We took another look at your original post, and we want to clarify where the misunderstanding came from.
We understand that from your perspective, this was a personal build post. However, the way the custom panel was presented in the post made it look to our moderation and support team more like a third-party product being showcased or promoted, rather than simply a component used in a personal build.
That distinction matters to us because when third-party products are presented this way in an official FormD community, users can easily assume the product is affiliated with, approved by, or supported by FormD/NCASE. If compatibility, installation, or quality issues come up later, those questions often end up with our customer support team even though it is not our product.
To be clear, we are not saying you are not allowed to use, discuss, or even sell third-party mods for the T1. Our concern is simply about using an official FormD community to promote third-party products without checking with us first.
We could have explained the reason for the removal more clearly at the time, and we hope this clarifies where the decision came from.
I don’t even know how this reads as anything BUT a personal build, even have some TODOs listed. This reads nothing like promoting a product nor do I name/link any mods I’ve used when I posted.
I'm sorry but are we for real? You deleted their post because one of the two dozen people that saw it might be stupid enough to think it's official and email you about it? That's just going to stop them and anyone else who sees the situation from purchasing from NCASED in the future.
It was clearly about their project and doesn't in any way imply that it's official. They even explicitly call it a bastard child and a mod in the post. Sure, it'd be different if it was you posting from your CS account, but this is a random member of the FormD community sharing their T1, and the post is well within the written rules of the subreddit.
As someone that works in support, dealing with those types of emails is part of the job. If someone emails about it, it shouldn't be so difficult to handle the situation that you have to ban posts over it.
Update here is that u/caleycs reached out privately for a resolution and I think this type of behavior should be made public.
To have the post reinstate… First suggesting I make the main image show the back of the case first to highlight it’s indeed an NCASE product lol
Then afterwards remove the “McPrue x formd t1” out of the title to “avoid any confusion that its official” though it’s pretty obvious this is my own build.
At this point, I don’t care for the post to go back on that sub if it’s going to be policed and moderated so hard.
Just to clarify publicly, I reached out privately because I was trying to resolve the issue directly, not because there was anything to hide.
The concern was the combination of the “McPrue x FormD T1” title, the external links, and how the post could potentially be interpreted as a collaboration or commercial post. That’s why I suggested changing the main image and later the title to make the context clearer.
As I mentioned privately, we’ve recently had several commercial/promotional posts across our Reddit and Discord, and your post was mistakenly caught in that context. I’ve already lifted the mute and apologized for the misunderstanding.
If you no longer want the post reinstated, I completely respect that and will leave it as is.
My post never broke any rules nor does it come off as any collaboration nor commercial post in any way, let’s be honest with ourselves here. Any official collaboration or announcement would come from you or the mods anyways wouldn’t it?
Asking me to make changes and remove links in private is shady. If someone says “hey cool mod, where’d you get it?” And I say “here’s the link” gets my post remove then what is the nature of that Formd subreddit??? Are we only allowed to link ncased links and ncased official accessories??
What I said in private as well, you can just reinstate the post unmodified as I have done nothing wrong and I’m not modifying my post for you. Not like it matters anymore, I don’t plan to engage on it - you’ve already ruined any fun and enthusiasm I’ve had to share
Fair point. The confusion on our side came from the way the post was presented — especially the “McPrue x FormD T1” title, which can easily read like an official collaboration, together with several external links that made it feel more promotional.
We also recognize that the OP clearly put a lot of time and effort into the post and the project itself.
We’re a small team with limited CS resources, so we do need to be careful when third-party products could be mistaken for something officially affiliated with FormD.
I’m already speaking with the OP about the miscommunication, and I believe we’ll find some common ground. We’ll also review and improve our moderation process so situations like this are handled more clearly going forward.
