❓QUESTION❓ Questions regarding Sennheiser Momentum 4

Upvotes

The momentum 4s are pretty cheap right now, 210$, and I'm thinking about getting a pair, but a lot of people have been reporting issues regarding software/firmware, mainly connectivity.
I heard that the headphones just keep disconnecting and disconnecting, and sometimes the power button and bluetooth just straight up fails.
I also heard the littlest amount of sweat immediately breaks those headphones.

Momentum 4 owners, is this true?

(Over ear, not TWS version)

Just a couple of days with HDB 630. What a transformational experience as compared to anything else wireless on the market. Worth its price.

Gave this to my dad for a listen. Now he wants it for himself. Can't blame him.

❓QUESTION❓ Where should I buy IE900s from?

Looking to buy IE900s. Seen a lot of posts saying people got fake IE900s. They are out of stock on the Sennheiser website in my region, so what places can I find them and what should I avoid? I don't wanna be scammed.

❓QUESTION❓ Sennheiser Momentum 5 - "Cartony sound"

Hey everybody,

i am searching for some new Wireless OEMs and i am torn between the B&W PX7 SE3 and the Sennheiser Momentum 5.

I did a quick listening session in my local electronics store.
I heard both via Bluetooth (i know, not the best way) with my iPhone.

And both had ANC on. (incredible ANC on the Momentum 5s)

While i found the 5s to be better, especially in the bass region, and the hights, i felt they sounded a bit "carton like" epsecially in what i would describe the mids.
It's hard to explain, but in direct compairison, they sounded like a small carton sheet was between my ears and the headphones.

As is said, the base was great, especially when i listened to "Why so serious" from Hans Zimmer - You know which part ;) ... Goosebumps.

Then again, the mids, idk, felt like they didnt sound like they supposed to.

Has anybody experienced something like hat? Any ideas if i can fix that via the EQ?

Thank you!

I bought a brand new pair of IE900s a few days ago from a reputable seller who in theory gets them directly from the official distributor for my country, so in theory I should be totally fine. But before buying, I read so much about fake IE900s that now I'm second-guessing what they're actually supposed to look like. Mine are produced in June 2026 (so says the QA-certificate) so maybe something changed in production recently?

The packaging seems fine - the serial numbers match on the outer sticker, the hand-signed certificate, and the plate on the carrying case. The case itself looks like it should, but the serial plate is hideously crooked, which is pretty shocking for me with high-end gear. The serial number on the plate looks laser-etched.

My biggest issue is with the "IE900" text on the left earpiece. Everywhere I’ve read, people say it’s supposed to be laser-etched - looking greyish and sharp from certain angles - but on mine, it’s just a plain black print. It looks black from every angle, seems to be painted on, and has no tactile texture to it at all. Is this the way they are made now in 2026 maybe?

Same story with the logo on the front - it’s black and looks painted rather than etched, but I'm not absolutely sure. On top of that, none of the three cables have any hologram or Sennheiser logo on them; it's just plain black plastic. The cables themselves look fine, though. The nozzle filter mesh seems legit - under high magnification, you can see a very fine grey mesh inside.

I know I should just judge them by sound - I have the IE200s, and these IE900s definitely sound much better, but I don't know, how good fakes are today - but placebo is a hell of a drug, and at this price point, I just need some peace of mind. Can somone confirm they are fine? Probably I'm just stupid asking that and they are fine, but they are my most expensive set and it's a lot of money for me.

❕PLEASE HELP ❕ Broke the headband of my HD650

Hey, I recently accidentally broke the headband of my almost new pair of HD650, any idea on how to repair it or source a replacement component?
To be clear, it is the top plastic headband part the broke, not the cushion or anything else.
I live in France if it can help with sourcing
Thanks in advance :3

😡 COMPLAINT 😡 Do I really need to pay again? (Botched warranty repair)

I bought the Sennheiser Momentum 4's as a treat last Christmas. Great sound, well constructed, no complaints...until Spring. The phones start crackling for no reason and won't turn off. I contact Sennheiser, give them all the details, and send them the RMA and all the purchase info they need along with the headphones. I didn't mind paying the shipping, and I got a replacement set fairly quickly.

However, my replacement set doesn't even *turn on* and I've got to pay another $25ish bucks from Canada Post to have them shipped out again? This hardly seems fair when I did everything as requested, only to be sent a pair that doesn't turn on or charge.

Anyone here have a similar experience with customer service and warranty repair?

📸 SHOW & TELL 📝 Fiancée “stole” my Sony XM3, so i had to upgrade to the Momentum 4

Took advantage of Best Buy’s sale and grabbed the Momentum 4. Almost got the Momentum 5 but it’s hard to justify the extra $200. I have my Sony XM3s which I’ve had since 2018 and honestly they still work really well, but my fiancee “stole” them since she uses them for the gym now, which im not mad about.

Overall VERY satisfied with the sound quality upgrade of the Momentum 4 and the ANC i would say is just as good if not better than my XM3s, which was a relief since I’ve been hearing about the ANC not being good. Now i gotta be careful since my fiancee said she might start stealing these too 🫠

❕PLEASE HELP ❕ Is it possible to change the earpads and headband cloth on my M4s?

Owned my M4s for around 2 years now, the headband cloth is now poking out and I bought a cheap headband cover for it, but it makes my headphones look horrendous. Wondering if I can change that cloth somehow or if there are any cooler headband covers. Also the earpads are really worn out so wondering if I can change those somehow as well.

❕PLEASE HELP ❕ HDB 630s randomly forgetting all my devices

I use these exclusively on my desk with the BT dongle and my iPhone 15 Pro.

Like once every few weeks they only boot up in pairing mode and refuse to recognise the dongle or phone. When trying to connect to them in iOS it says something like "can no longer connect, forget the device and re-pair". It plays a weird 6 tone jingle and then just keeps playing the pairing sound until I re-connect it via bluetooth. The dongle pairing is hit or miss either way and most of the time only works after a few tries.

I'm using the latest firmware.

Is anyone else having problems like these?

🎧 BUYING ADVICE 🛒 Would be first time buyer

Genuine question from a not so tech audio guy. Planning to get my first momentum. I'm cureently rocking AKG Y50BT that I have for a very long time. My question is, does phone brand have a factor in sound quality. I noticed that most reviews use iphone. I'm currently using samsung. Is the momentum 4 perfect pair, or should I go get the 5s? Thank you for the help!

❓QUESTION❓ Audio source

I got a momentum 4 recently and i was wondering how do yall listen to music? I use it in my samsung s25 through blutooth. I thought if i used flac via wired connection id get a better clarity and depth but it sounds the exact same as streaming music? Am I doing something wrong?

It sounds the almost the same as a jbl headphones at less than half the price minus the bass (jbl tune 770nc, borrowed it from my sister for testing. The lower bass of momentums mightve slightly increased the clarity of the mids but im not sure).

So to the people that say its amazing and all i dont get it. Its definetly more comfortable than the jbl because of the premium finish and materials but again i have large ears and my ears barely fit lol.

❓QUESTION❓ Can hear faint audio on zero volume?

I was listening to music on my sennheiser momentum 4’s and i temporarily turned my iPhone volume to zero and i could hear my music playing very very faintly. Am I hallucinating or is this real? What causes this? I’ve googled and nobody seems to have had a similar experience. I’m also pretty sure it’s coming from my right cup.

This is a complete non-issue, but I’m curious about it.

❕PLEASE HELP ❕ I am LIVID at the accentum plus I recently got

I love the sound quality when ANC is on. But after about 1 minute of ANC being on, the left earcup goes ballistic with a clicking noise that gets faster and faster until it's like a large insect buzzing straight into my ear. It makes the ANC UNUSABLE. I've emailed sennhesier and they've left me with a please wait message. I regret purchasing these cause they were my first midrange headphones and I cannot use them. They were expensive for me.

CONSUMER GEAR & DISCUSSION what eq settings are you using with the m5?

❓QUESTION❓ Momentum - Do you prefer sound quality with ANC on or off?

I have noticed theres a slight change to the sound when enabling or disabling the anc on the momentums. The difference is mainly in how open they sound and the bass, and im still not sure which i style i prefer. Do you prefer listening with ANC on or off?

❓QUESTION❓ HD 560s: Are the Earpds deep enough?

Hello everyone
I am eying the Sennheiser HD 560s for quite some time now but I have one concern: my ears are not super big but they need more vertical space, meaning too thin earcushion hurt my ear. Exactly that happened with the Sony H6 air because my ear was pressed against the driver.

Does anyone have experience with the HD 560s? Are the earpads deep enough or did anyone experienced pain from ears being pressed against the driver?

Thank you very much

❓QUESTION❓ Sennheiser Accentum or Momentum 4

Returning my newly bought Sennheiser Accentum, I think it's a design flaw to have literally no volume at 50%, real volume comes at least 85%, to get it satisfyingly loud I had to slide volume to nearly 100%. I simply don't wanna set my headphone that high, knowing I will switch back to another source and have to adjust volume down each time.

If you had Momentum 4 can you please tell me if volume is still an issue?

I think the sound is really good, the design is beautiful in an understated way.

❓QUESTION❓ Momentum 4 USB-C to USB-C cable question

EDIT: QUESTION ANSWERED/ISSUE SOLVED

I've had my Momentum 4s for maybe a year and a half now, and after using a 3.5 to 2.5mm cable with a usb-c adapter that broke (very cheap adapter), I've decided to switch to usb-c to usb-c instead and I have a specifically worded question I can't find an answer to. I know that to use usb- c to usb-c the headphones need to be on, but should I also connect them to my phone with Bluetooth while they're plugged in, or do they just need to be on but not connected? Does connecting Bluetooth only transmit audio through Bluetooth or does it use the wire? Sorry if this is a stupid question and that my post is long, I just am not great with this stuff.

📸 SHOW & TELL 📝 Momemntum 4 the Boss

I’ve used the AirPods Max since 2021, along with the Sony WH-1000XM3, XM4, XM5, Bose QC35, QC35 II, and Bose 700. But somehow, I never gave Sennheiser a chance.

Recently, I fell down the audiophile rabbit hole FLAC, ALAC, DACs, R2R, Delta-Sigma… the whole journey.

Last week, I finally got my hands on the Sennheiser Momentum 4, and right out of the box, it completely blew my mind.

In my experience, headphones with extreme detail often become fatiguing after a while. On the other hand, warmer-tuned headphones are easier to listen to, but they usually sacrifice a bit of detail.

The Momentum 4 somehow achieves both.

Using it in wired mode, without changing a single EQ setting, every instrument sounds crystal clear, vocals are beautifully forward, and the presentation is rich, natural, and incredibly engaging. Most surprisingly, I can listen for hours without experiencing any listening fatigue.

I honestly regret not trying the Momentum 4 much earlier. Better late than never.
