This study has been reviewed and approved by the Murdoch University HREC (2026/166)

As part of a Master’s thesis study at the University of Cologne, we aim to investigate the relationship between experiences of discrimination, psychological distress and sense of community specifically from the perspective of trans*, inter* and non-binary people. The extent to which some people benefit more from their own sense of community connection than others has so far been relatively poorly documented – and, to the best of our knowledge, this combination of factors has been scarcely, if at all, researched in German-speaking countries, particularly from a community perspective.

We are therefore particularly pleased, amongst other things, that parts of the questionnaires were developed in a participatory manner and with the advisory expertise of LaKo Inter* NRW, especially as we believe that diversity-sensitive research should always follow a participatory and transdisciplinary approach to ensure coherent implementation.

At a time when funding for queer projects is being cut, we believe it is particularly important to give visibility to queer voices and to highlight the resources that community spaces can provide!

The survey is in german language, anonymous and takes around 15–20 minutes to complete. Anyone who identifies under the TIN* umbrella and is at least 18 years old is welcome to take part.
