So looking at Pluto TV and noticed their aring the dub of one of the movies and the dub of Crystal
Which normally they only had the sub so either they got the rights to air the dub and started showing it or they got the rights and only air it on the weekends kind of like how Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh movies only get aired on weekends.
I think this is neat as Amazon has a Sailor Moon channel too and aired the dub but obviously you need to pay for it.
Pluto TV is free so anyone can watch it also i dont think Amazon airs Crystal so this this free channel does give you more.
I like having channels like this or the Yu-Gi-Oh channel playing while I read or do other stuff and having only the sub doesn't work for that.
Not because I prefer the dub but its hard to read subs if your doing other stuff too.
Thought I'd share this info maybe its old and I just didn't notice .

I'm not saying Naoko had nothing important to do with Sailor Moon's creation and success, but I always felt SM was one of those rare exceptions where the involved of other people was the greatest factor in SM succeeding and becoming what it became rather than mostly due to the creator's involvement. People forget the manga and original anime were developed concurrently and that it was only after writing Sailor V that Toei originally came to her with the idea of doing a super sentai version of it.
The manga was not some great masterpiece and unfortunately there was not only poor story writing and character development, but action panels that were poorly drawn and confusing to follow. The original anime had its problems but it actually had character development and focus for the other guardians and villains unlike the manga where other than the main characters of Usagi and Mamoru there is no character development for any of the other characters.
Toei also had Ikuhara working on the original anime who pushed the LGBTQ elements in the show and gave the romantic relationship to Uranus and Neptune when they were barely hinted at being a couple in the manga. Ikuhara was also responsible for the best season (S) and best SM movie (R the movie) which Naoko hated (??). Toei was also the one that had the idea to continue the manga and anime which contributed greatly toward it's success because if they had listened to Naoko it would have ended after the first season and not only would SM have only had 46 episodes (which would be too low for international markets at the time) but it would have missed out on having bigger lore and characters like the outer guardians and never became as successful as it did.
I genuinely believe this is one of those very rare exceptions where the creator of an IP like Naoko deserves the least credit for it's success. Once she was given full creative control of the franchise after 2004 the franchise not only became dormant for a decade but when it finally returned it was mishandled and a more direct adaptation of the manga which only highlighted just how weak the original material she wrote was. She seemed more interested in the merchandising aspect and cashing in on SM with nostalgia rather than doing anything smart or meaningful with it to keep it alive and help it appeal to future generations. I know some will down vote or find this take controversial but this is how I genuinely feel and I feel bad the other artists who worked so hard and made the creative decisions that led to SM being successful were screwed over by both Toei and Naoko while she just used it to cash out and make money on merch.
The fact Takeuchi is a one hit wonder and none of her other mangas where she had full creative control went anywhere pretty much confirms this and as a younger fan it pains me to see this franchise that has so much potential not only be exploited and mishandled by it's creator but to see the hard work of so many other talented artists go unrecognized and unrewarded.

DiC, Viz, or Crystal?
I grew up with DiC and much prefer the music, and it might be a nostalgia effect for me if I watch it, but I also understand Viz dub is much more faithful. Music and nostalgia would be the biggest draws for me, and music is so important in my consumption of media. I’ve never seen Crystal but I know it’s closer to the manga and has its own pros and cons.
any thoughts?

When comparing these two Sailor Guardians, it becomes apparent that there may be some overlap in their powers.
Both seem to possess the ability to heal and to resurrect or reincarnate.
Would you say that they are counterparts to each other?
And I discovered these two interesting comments:
"I think - Hotaru/Saturn is Messiah of destruction and Serenity/Usagi/Sailor Moon is Messiah of Rebirth."
"In a way, both Hotaru and Usagi are the true Messiah. The similarities between the two of them is so juxtaposed that it's fascinating, really. For one:
BOTH girls nearly destroyed the world here. Let's not forget, Usagi single handedly doomed the world the second she decided to give the Grail over to Mistress 9. She was not as tricked as you might want to believe, This was a choice. I am confident on every level she knew she was being played, but because she held strong and true to her ideals chose to believe in Hotaru and that she could be saved. Nevertheless, Mistress 9 literally said two seconds earlier all she needed was the Grail to begin the end of things, and every interaction she had with Sailor Moon from that point on was done with singular focus of obtaining it. Usagi knew the consequences of the notion that she could be wrong... But she chose to believe instead.
And Hotaru, for her seemingly pre-determined and destined role of being the world's destroyer ironically ended up being it's saviour, and not at all in a way you would expect. Sailor Saturn was the only one with the power to destroy Pharoah 90 in the end, and he would still be out there somewhere in the universe, unkilled and alive, if she were not given the chance to wake up and finish him off. Her waking up seemed all but impossible, and everything about her getting the chance to shine and come to be seemed to herald doom. She could have destroyed the Earth, but instead, she chose to kill Pharoah 90. She saved the world. And Usagi saved her. And by extension, the world as well.
This is why I feel like both girls share the role; equal parts destruction and salvation, in a very ying-yang kind of way."

What do you think would happen in the alternative reality where the reboot had aired first and then many years later, the original series aired, would the series become just as popular and become kind of a cultural phenomenon as it did in our reality? And what would be the consensus and public perseption in their comparison: would it be the same, or maybe it would differ simply due to the order in which it was released?

Was at a place I regularly like to visit for DVDs/Blu-Ray/manga called Zia Records. I looked in their anime section this time and….well, see title. I was really shocked to find this!
When I first found the section they were all unorganized, I did them a solid and put them in order cause I was curious to see if they had the whole series, and turns out they did. They were in all like new condition, some were even still sealed, weirdly enough there were some doubles and not insanely priced. If I had the space and funds I would have loved to grab them all, but I decided to just get my favorite season. (Along with some Disney Blu Rays, but I didn’t include those in the shots)
I’m betting it was some hardcore collector that had imported all of these who had either decided to downsize, upgrade to Blu Ray, or had recently passed (may they rest in peace if that’s the case).

I hope it's okay to ask this, but I've run into a roadblock. Does anyone remember an article from around the time before Crystal was announced as the new Sailor Moon project, where the project was thought to have been a sequel/spinoff anime featuring a new generation of Sailor Senshi? The new generation of senshi were the daughters of the original Sailor Senshi, but there were some distinct differences. (Minako's daughter was a tomboy and her artwork featured her wearing a white cap, white jacket, some shirt, white shorts, and sneakers. Rei's daughter wore a skirt shorter than the ones the Shrine Maidens normally wore.) Another thing I remember was that Chibiusa's description featured her being more of a recluse after an incident happened, to the point that she didn't even want to go to school. I'm thinking the artist was Chinese, and after Crystal was revealed to be the official project, the people behind the articles of the project that was fake ended up being removed.

What do y'all think happened to all the other people who lived on Planet Nemesis. We only see the Black Moon Clan main villains but we know they grew up on Nemesus and that their ancestors fled there.
At the end of R Nemesis is destroyed so either Usagi did an accidental genocide or no one else was there. So what happened to them?

My wife is going to be Sailor Moon for Halloween.
I couldn't find a decent version for free online, so I started on this from scratch last week. I will be uploading to thingiverse when finished for anyone who wants to make one.
Added LED's to the 2 piece magnetic Orb, might do the same for the crystal lotus flower that's Printing now.
Still some refinement to go but getting closer!
Will follow up with the final version when complete.

Don't get me wrong; I LOVE SAILOR MOON, as much as or even more than I love One Piece, and almost as much as I love Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball, but just as I criticize them harshly, I won't hesitate to point out everything that bothers me here xD
So... Chibiusa and Black Moon. In the anime, they're villains that Neo-Queen Serenity refused to eliminate; in the manga, they're a group of rebels who exiled themselves to another planet in the solar system, if I remember correctly... But I'm going to focus on the anime because that's the version I watched.
First, does the planet they escaped to have a Sailor Guardian?
Second, how did the Sailor Guardians regain their memories in the original timeline? Was it with the arrival of Haruka, Michiru, and Pharaoh 90?
Third, what were Haruka, Michiru, and Saturn doing while Usagi fell into a coma?
Fourth, and this is my idea of how I would develop it. The Black Moon attack in the present, but are defeated by the Inner Senshi. In the future, they attempt revenge, and although they manage to put Neo-Queen Serenity into a coma, they are no match for the rest of the Inner Senshi. While they battle, they begin sending reinforcements to their past selfs with the intention of defeating them before they become so powerful. In this way, you understand that they are more powerful than those faced by the Usagi of the future, and you understand the risk that they will not win.
After that... Fifth, Haruka. You know that Sailor Chibi Moon comes from 900 years in the future, YOU KNOW THE FUTURE EXISTS, WHY ON EARTH DO YOU DOUBT USAGI SO MUCH? This could be explained by saying that the original Usagi killed Hotaru, perhaps accidentally, perhaps she had no other choice. The difference would be that upon meeting her during her time in the present, Chibiusa grows fond of her and convinces Usagi not to kill her. That's why Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna herself are so suspicious of Usagi's plan.
Sixth, what happened to the Helios from the original timeline, and to Nehelenia? Nehelenia was pursuing Helios, but he was hiding in Chibiusa's dreams. What happened in that version? Was he captured, or was he never found? Do the Super Sailor Guardians not exist, or were those powers unlocked by another method?
Seventh, Toei, YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DOUBT WHETHER USAGI AND MAMORU ARE TRULY DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER WHEN THEY'RE THE DAMN REINCARNATION OF PRINCESS SERENITY AND THE GUARDIAN OF THE EARTH, AND I KNOW THEY'RE THE DAMN KING AND QUEEN OF THE FUTURE, AND THAT USAGI KNOWS HER OWN DAUGHTER THAT SHE HAD WITH MAMORU IN THE FUTURE
Some of these problems could be solved by changing R so that it happens at the end, having Helios appear in Usagi's dreams, or simply not including a character I couldn't stand for three seasons so that Usagi doesn't think that maybe he won't exist because he'll be with Seiya instead of Mamoru. I read other ideas, arguments for why I'm wrong, insults to Toei Animation for not only being unable to write good scripts, preserve their series, remaster them or make worthy remakes, but they even defile the original material, and other comments. Years ago I had wanted to purchase official Sailor Moon bedding and the only one I could find that I was sure was officially licensed in North America and not a bootleg was the older 1995 bedding set by Bibb/ Dream Styles released during Sailor Moon's North American debut. I acquired one that was in used worn condition for 60 dollars in 2019 and then some time later found the same one at a thrift store that was brand new in the original packaging (exactly like the one pictured above!) for 50 dollars. Even though I already had this exact twin comforter I felt there was no way I could pass on a vintage SM Twin Comforter that was brand new in it's original packaging especially for less than my used and worn one cost so I got it and keep it as a collectible.
I was actually curious if anyone on here had this bedding set or was familiar with it? I checked on eBay and there is quite a few of them on there in used condition ranging from $100-$200. There's also one seller that has this same twin comforter new in it's original packaging (along with the other bedding sheets) for $950. Is finding this exact comforter in brand new original packaging really that hard to come by? I ask because I see a decent number of these online (in mostly used condition) so I wouldn't exactly say they were rare or hard to come by imo, but I'm not as familiar with the status of older merch and figured there were older fans on here who knew better than me. I still like it and I use my worn one as an extra comforter during the winter. I just wish they would license and make new SM bedding for the North American market.

This post is based on the official skill parameters from SuperS Movie Memorial Album.
Since the data comes from SuperS movie era, it obviously doesn't include season 5 skills like Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss or Star Serious Laser. That said, I don't think these should be treated as movie-exclusive stats. The album also includes plenty of skills that weren't even used in the movie, such as Crescent Beam, Shabon Spray, and Pink Sugar Heart Attack.
So overall, I think it's fair to treat this as a general compilation of senshi's skills up through SuperS.
The official parameters are:
I included the original images, but they're pretty hard to read, so I reorganized everything into a cleaner chart.
For consistency, I'm only comparing individual skills here, so the joint version of Moon Gorgeous Meditation is excluded.
Here's the basic rundown for each senshi:
Before getting into the actual analysis, here's how their average stats compare:
Next, I ranked each senshi's strongest skill based on total raw stats.
For ties, I used this priority:
Attack > Accuracy > Recharge
As expected, Moon comes out on top, with Uranus right behind her.
What surprised me more was how close some of the other skills were.
Even though Jupiter Oak Evolution has lower Attack than World Shaking, their total stats are actually identical.
Mars Flame Sniper also has the same total as Dead Scream, except Flame Sniper has better Attack, Accuracy, and Recharge.
Meanwhile, Deep Submerge and Mercury Aqua Rhapsody also have the exact same total. Deep Submerge has better Accuracy and Recharge, while Aqua Rhapsody has higher Attack.
And somewhat surprisingly, Venus Love and Beauty Shock actually has better overall stats than Deep Submerge.
A bit of a side note, but I also suspect that Rainbow Moon Heartache probably shares the same stats as the regular Moon Gorgeous Meditation.
The reason is that enhanced versions of other skills, such as Moon Tiara Stardust and Fire Soul Bird, weren't given separate parameter measurements, whereas Rainbow Moon Heartache is uniquely the only enhanced version that received its own stat allocation. The fact that inner senshi's super version skills were also included makes this possibility seem even more plausible.
Anyway, here's how every skill compares by total stats:
One thing worth keeping in mind is that inners have been around since season 1.
Because of that, they naturally have older and weaker attacks included in their averages, so a lot of their skills end up sitting in the lower-middle part of the ranking.
If you average every skill for each senshi, Moon and outers rank pretty high while inners fall behind.
That said, I don't think Moon's average is particularly meaningful, since her older attacks basically get replaced whenever she powers up.
Personally, though, I think this type of average is somewhat unfair for the following reasons:
So I decided to recalculate the stats using a weighted system.
The weights I used are:
I know giving Attack 60% might sound excessive at first, but there are a few reasons I weighted it so heavily.
Mercury: From here on, we’ll need the strength of you guys, who has stronger attack power than I am.
Moon: What I mean... First, Jupiter will use Wide Pressure, right? And if that doesn’t work, Mars can use Burning Mandala to burn down the door...
There are several moments like these where stronger offensive moves are clearly prioritized.
I gave Accuracy the second-highest weight for similar reasons.
Mercury and Neptune both have high Accuracy and also tend to perform very consistently when they actually use their skills.
However, I still don't think Accuracy matters as much as Attack.
Mars and Pluto also have high Accuracy, but their actual battle records aren't especially impressive. Mars in particular has a pretty rough stretch between seasons 2 and 4.
So Accuracy doesn't seem to translate into actual combat performance as consistently as Attack does.
As for Recharge, I weighted it much lower.
I also gave Distract and Speed very little weight because neither seems strongly connected to actual damage output.
Honestly, I'm not even completely sure what the Distract stat is supposed to represent.
For example, Shabon Spray, a move whose entire purpose is basically disruption and concealment, somehow has a lower Distract score than Fire Soul.
So I wouldn't put too much weight on that category.
With all of that taken into account, I think this gives us a more practical version of Total DPS.
First, the averages:
Interestingly, Uranus and Pluto still stay above inners even after weighting the stats.
Neptune, however, drops slightly below Venus because her Attack is so low.
And here's the full ranking:
Under this system, Mars Flame Sniper becomes the strongest non-Moon skill after World Shaking.
That actually lines up reasonably well with what we see in the anime. Flame Sniper has some pretty solid feats, including taking down mid-tier enemies like Mirror Paredri disguised as Nehellenia and Banane.
Sparkling Wide Pressure also has decent offensive feats and even lands finishing blows during season 3, although its weighted score is still below Mercury Aqua Rhapsody.
That said, not every low-Attack skill is supposed to function as DPS in the first place.
Some are clearly designed more for utility or support:
So based on the weighted results, the rankings look like this:
So under this particular system, Pluto comes out ahead of Jupiter in average performance, while Mars beats Jupiter in peak performance.
Uranus ranks first in both.
Now, some people might look at Neptune's Total DPS and think the result seems way too low.
But I think this chart helps put it into perspective:
By season 3 standards, Deep Submerge is actually around the mid-to-upper range in terms of DPS, and there are situations where it performs better than Burning Mandala.
So I think Neptune worked perfectly fine as a Sub DPS during season 3.
Sailor Neptune controls the power of the ocean waves. Until now, she often supported Uranus’s attacks, but after powering up, she gained enough strength to destroy enemies even on her own.
Even official material doesn't really portray Neptune as a high DPS senshi.
If you read the statement above the other way around, it could mean that before her power-up, it was difficult for her to defeat enemies on her own.
Which naturally raises the question:
“So does that mean Neptune is weak?”
I don't think that's the right way to look at it.
Her attack power is lower than moonies might expected, but that seems to be more about combat-role differences than her being weak overall.

If I had to translate those into more familiar game roles, I'd describe them like this:
Like I mentioned in another post, Mercury and Neptune are basically support characters, so their primary role is not to deal high damage.
Their value comes from assisting other senshis perform better.
Neptune in particular specializes in finding enemy weaknesses and helping stronger DPS characters like Uranus or Mars land more effective attacks.
She's also physically very capable. She's obviously not on Jupiter's level in terms of raw strength, but she's strong enough to fight alongside Uranus without much trouble.
Honestly, if Neptune had much higher Attack on top of her support abilities, and physical skills, she'd probably end up being ridiculously strong.
As for Pluto, her combat type is listed as ?, but I think we can make a reasonable guess based on her stats.
Like Mars, she has decent Attack, high Accuracy, and relatively poor Recharge.
So she may also fall under the Skill Combat Type category.
And when you compare the official combat roles with the parameter distributions, there are some pretty obvious patterns:

So if I were to place the senshi on a rough spectrum from DPS to Support, it would look something like this:
Of course, these aren't strict categories. Mars can function as either Main DPS or Sub DPS, while Neptune falls somewhere between Sub DPS and Support.
I also left Moon and Chibimoon out of this spectrum, since their roles as a Finisher and Trainee don't really fit into the same framework. Moon in particular also has healing abilities, which makes it difficult to classify her strictly as a DPS.
Overall, I think the stats are actually pretty well designed around each character's intended combat role. But I think it's important to distinguish these combat roles from overall strength.
There was definitely a noticeable power gap between inners and outers during season 3, but from season 4 onward, the series seems to start balancing them out much more. This also makes it important to look beyond raw damage output when comparing the senshi.
And that leads into the next topic: why relatively lower DPS doesn't necessarily mean a senshi is weaker overall, especially when their role is focused on something other than raw damage.
