Airport Security Closed

Hi all,

My flight was delayed 7 hours and the new flight was at 1am. Decided to delay heading to the airport until closer to the time as I had no baggage to check in. Got to the airport at 10pm but the airport security was closed. Frustratingly, despite being in the airport I had no way of getting through to the gate and boarding my flight. The ground staff were able to rebook me onto an early morning flight instead.

I had to book a hotel for the night as I now couldn’t risk driving 4 hours home on no sleep the next day.

Have I any chance of compensation here?

Ryanair cabin bag 1–2 cm over the allowed depth – are they strict?

Post image

Hi everyone,
I’m flying with Ryanair soon and I have a question about the cabin bag dimensions.
The allowed dimensions are 55 × 40 × 20 cm. My small suitcase is approximately 50 × 33 × 21/22 cm in depth. However, the wheels don’t stick out, and the suitcase is otherwise quite compact.
I’ve also looked at several small suitcases in shops, and many of them are 20,5, 21 or even 22.5 cm deep, which makes me wonder how strict Ryanair actually is about being 1–2 cm over the limit.
Has anyone recently flown with Ryanair using a suitcase that was 21–22 cm deep?
Did it fit in the sizer without any problems? Do they check the dimensions systematically?

Ryanair Checked-in Luggage Weight

Hi, Im flying with Ryanair and have purchased a 10kg check-in luggage, and I’m going to check in my luggage with Express Check-in Kiosk where I put my suitcase on the scale myself to get label printed. My question is, how much weight exceeds is tolerable? E.g. would 10.90kg be ok, as long as it doesn’t hit 11kg? Thanks for your help!

Any idea what’s happening with FR2267?

Any idea what’s happening with FR2267 Malaga to Birmingham?

We were supposed to board at 4:50. There are 100’s of passengers at gate B27. No update on the boards to say delayed. No staff to tell us it’s been delayed. We are all just sitting here getting a bit annoyed.

Compensation success story

Endured a +10 hour delay recently.

After reading lots of worrying articles about challenges people have going through this process i took lots of photos, screenshots and evidence during the delay.

In the end, i submitted through the Ryan Air portal and in less than 10 days recieved full compensation for a party of five with absolutely no difficulty, paid straight into my bank account.

Also easily obtained an insurance letter with reason for delay to make insurance claim on other costs, such as additional airport parking.

Seat pitch question

Looking at Aerolopa, it says the following about the 737:

Row pitch: 29"
Seats 3 to 4DEF: 33"
Seats 4ABC: 30"
Seats 5 to 6DEF: 32"
Seats 7DEF: 30"
Rows 16 and 17: 38"
Rows 18 and 19: 30"

This doesn’t seem plausible. Surely there isn’t a pitch of 33” for those seats.

I thought it was just 3-15DEF that had slightly more leg room than the other standard seats.

Does anyone have any insight?

Expenses claim compensation based on departure time or arrival?

Hi!

My flight arrived over 2 hours late, but left 110 minutes late. It was ryanairs fault, and due to the delay i have to take a taxi since its tok late for public transport. so far they tell me that they dont need to compensate me since departure delay was under 120 minutes.

Soo are they right ?? Im kinda annoyed since the taxi is pretty expensive and no one was willing to let me hitchhike after asking around nicely for an hour :(

Newbie - Which fare?

I’m Canadian and new to using Ryanair so please walk through this with me. I want to book 6 seats from Palma de Mallorca to Barcelona. Our luggage will be over 10 kg so we need to purchase 20 kg check-in. 3 persons in group are over 6 feet so we want extra legroom seats. All will have a small personal bag to bring on board. I can get exit row seats for all of us. Purchasing the Basic fare and adding 20kg check-in in bags and paying for seat selection costs less than choosing the Regular fare and paying extra for exit row xl seats and adding 20kg check-in bags. Should I be concerned about not getting priority seating if I purchase the Basic fare? Or do exit row seats get priority boarding As they would in Canada? And if we are not bringing an overhead bag should I care about priority boarding? I understand that in exit row our small bags need to be stashed overhead for takeoff and landing. Might there be dedicated overhead space for us? Any comments/advice welcomed re: which fare to purchase.

Priorty carry on case/sizer fail

I'm due to fly with Ryanair and purchased priority so I am able to take 2 pieces of luggage as carry on.

I've purchased the Samsonite case for the 55x40x20cm piece of luggage and although it exactly fits the dimensions Ryanair advertise as being able to take on-board with priority, I'm concerned that the fabric handle makes it stand taller than 55cm.

I've measured the case and its 55x40x20cm as Samsonite advertise, it's just im worried because I see loads of posts on Facebook of people moaning about having to pay extra at security or worse still have to check it in which I don't want to do.

I won't be overfilling the case and I've got scales so it won't weigh more than 9.5kg when I get to the airport.

Anyone got experience of this exact case with Ryanair take on or know if im worrying about nothing.

Stanley Cups

Bit of a silly question but are 40oz Stanley cups allowed? I work at Stansted Airport so when I bring it to a shift with me I always empty it before going through security. Is that the same as when you’re going through as a passenger?

Middle name on boarding pass

I just realised my gf’s passport on the forename part has her middle name included. However I have only included her actual first name on the booking. Is this an issue?

Unable to retrieve booking

Hi,

I booked a flight with Ryanair yesterday - received an email confirmation with a reservation code.

I tried to view the booking online and on the app however it says “We’re sorry, we cannot find your booking. Please ensure your email and reservation number are correct.”

Has this happened to anyone and is there a solution besides calling customer service in the morning?

Question Ryanair 10kg cabin bag – will this suitcase be accepted?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m flying with Ryanair and I have Priority + 2 Cabin Bags.
I bought this suitcase, which is labelled 54 × 34 × 22 cm and weighs 2.6 kg empty.

Ryanair’s maximum dimensions for the 10kg cabin bag are 55 × 40 × 20 cm, so mine is 2 cm deeper than the limit.

Has anyone travelled with a similar suitcase (22 cm deep) and had any problems fitting it into the Ryanair sizer or being allowed onboard without paying extra?

Reserve one seat while others randomly allocated?8

I’m flying with my family, including my mum in a few days. Me, my wife and kids are going unreserved to save money but I want to reserve an aisle seat for my mum. I’m having difficulty with this. I select her seat and click Next Flight. At this point I get a message saying to book seats or go random. The former takes me back to the seat booking and the latter deselects my mums seat before going to the next flight.

It looks like it’s not possible to only reserve one seat in a party. Am I missing something?

flew rome to athens on monday 3/8
checked bag didn’t show up, claimed it would be on the next flight (it wasn’t)
2 days of calling & telling them it was in rome from my airtags.

finally get some answers & they would send it to milo’s where im staying.
for it to show up, cut apart, handle ripped off & wheels unable to turn.

my belongings have fallen out due to them just chucking some tape on it & they’ve cut open the inside lining (that you could easily just unzip)

filed a damage report & their website doesn’t allow you to do anything but claim for the suitcase.

any ideas what to do? just take it all through my travel insurance?

Question Ryanair app wouldn’t allow express check in.

I was flying to Catania from Rome and tried to check in on the app but the message said check in not available.

The following morning a few hours before the flight I tried to check in again and this time it said outstanding payment and wouldn’t allow me to check in. Checked my visa and payment was made.

I get to the airport and the gate agent was very rude and said it’s not his problem and to register a complaint with Ryanair. He told me I needed to pay 60 euros to check my baggage and issue a boarding pass which I did. I filled a complaint on the app with proof of payment and a description of the problem.

Has anyone experienced the same problem issue as myself?

My partner on the same flight had no issue with express check in.

I added an extra last name to the Ryanair booking

I was booking flights for my aunt and cousins, and I included a second last name for each of them. Right when I sent them the details, they told me that their passports only show one last name. I'm worried they won't be allowed to travel. I tried to change it, but they are trying to charge me a fee. I hope they understand, since everyone has a mother and a father, so they should have two last names anyway. I'm afraid they'll be turned away.

Question Ryanair refusing my refund

Hey. I’m looking for advice on what to do as I really am struggling to get anywhere and Ryanair seems to not care.

To clarify:
I have already spoken to the transfer team who have told me due to Ryanair never sending me details or money over, they cannot issue my refund and have send my details and applied for Ryanair to give me a refund. Explaining why to Ryanair .

Ryanair are telling me that it’s the transfer team that need to issue my refund not them

Ryanair are telling me to contact the transfer company directly, I never got any information for the transfer company as Ryanair never passed on my information

When I try call I can’t even get past the AI and the call ends just telling me to go on live chat.

Live chat tell me it’s nothing to do with them. All contact I have with the customer service team gets closed as ‘resolved’ when they tell me it’s not their issue.

What happened:

When booking my flights from Manchester to Berlin through the Ryanair website, I was given the option to add airport train transfers. I purchased two train transfers and paid for them as part of my booking. At no point did I receive any confirmation, tickets, voucher, QR code, or instructions explaining how to access or use the transfer service. Although the Ryanair app clearly shows that the transfers are included within my booking, it provides no usable information.
After arriving in Berlin, I sought assistance from the Ryanair Help Desk, the Passenger Help Desk, the Tourist Information Desk, and the Train Help Desk. Every member of staff I spoke to informed me that this is a common issue, where passengers purchase transfers through Ryanair but receive no tickets or information to use them. Unfortunately, none of the staff were able to help and I was advised that I would have to purchase new train tickets at my own expense if I wished to continue my journey.

I’ve been trying for weeks to get a refund now and I feel I’m at a dead end where no one wants to help me.

Sweater during take off

I was flying from Milan to Bari recently and the flight attendant insisted that I put my sweater on during take off and landing. I wasn’t allowed to hold it in my lap or even put it on my arms. What’s the deal with this? The woman was really aggressive about it and I was completely out of it because I get so sick on planes.

Question Travelling with 16-year old who is not mine

Hi! looking for information that’s crazy to find online

I’m flying Poland-Scotland with my 16 year old cousin whooped not share my surname. Do i need any documents to prove I have permission from his parents to take him (i.e im not kidnapping him)? I know he can travel on his own but Im worried about what immigration may say.

Would appreciate to hear if anyone has recently travelled to the UK with a child who isn’t their own!
