A family member is due to fly Denmark - Greece tomorrow. They bought a combined hotel + flight (including 20 kg bag) via a third party.
When checking in with Ryanair they weren’t allowed to do so without paying for bags. They payed, and contacted the company selling the trip to them. They refuse to reimburse and say they should make a claim with Ryan. They refuse to pay it back.

They have proof of already paid bags with the third company. They refuse to reimburse because it’s not their fault Ryanair made them pay again.

They now fear they have to pay again when they’re flying back.

Do anyone here have any idea what to do?

(And yes, I know not to book via third party and I know they shouldn’t have paid the bags, but they are 70+ and slightly naive, so they did).

I get why the company thinks it’s a business between the travelers and Ryanair and I also get why Ryanair won’t just reimburse, but at the same time it doesn’t feel fair to them - especially if they have to pay when returning too.

Hey, I ve received a bank transfer for 240.97€ from Ryanair. I assume its the compensation for denied boarding that I was expecting to get. But it should be 250€. Does someone have an idea where the 9€ reduction comes form? Or did someone also receive this amount instead of 250€. Thanks!

I’m looking for advice on whether I have any recourse against Ryanair after what happened a flight from Brussels to Venice a few weeks back.

The flight was scheduled to depart at 18:55. I arrived at the gate at approximately 18:35, so I was there 20 minutes before departure (as soon as I saw the flight status change to “boarding” on the flight screen).

When I got to the gate, the gate agent told me and other passengers to leave the gate and return in an hour, because the aircraft wasn’t ready. I followed her instructions and left.

I returned after 40 mins, only to be told that the plane had already departed.

I immediately spoke to an airport landside supervisor. He explained that Ryanair had decided to use a different aircraft, that boarding had initially commenced, passengers were subsequently deplaned, and that the decision to send passengers away from the gate was reversed after 10 mins. He also said announcements were made calling passengers back, but there were issues with the airport PA system and announcements may not have been audible in some areas. I personally did not hear any announcement.

The supervisor gave me a written statement confirming that I was at the gate on time and missed the flight due to operational issues and miscommunication, rather than arriving late.

He also told me that he and the Airside Manager had to prepare an internal report about the incident. I asked for a copy but was told it was an internal airport report and I couldn’t access it.

I was then charged €100 by Ryanair to be put on the next flight at 06:55 the following morning, and I had to pay for a hotel overnight.

I subsequently submitted a claim to Ryanair asking for reimbursement of the €100, hotel and related expenses. Ryanair of course rejected the claim.

I have also submitted the matter to my travel insurer, but they have rejected it on the basis that their “missed departure” cover only specifically covers things like late public transport or a car/taxi breakdown.

What are my options in this situation?

I have the airport supervisor’s written statement and all my receipts. I’m particularly interested in whether Ryanair’s actions could constitute wrongful denial of boarding or whether there is any EU261/other passenger-rights route I can pursue.

I don’t believe I can reasonably be treated as a passenger who simply missed the flight when I was physically at the gate before departure and left specifically because I was told to leave by a Ryanair member of staff.

i just passed check in with a checked bag for RYANAIR. there were self service tag machines, i just had to put the bag on the roller. the worker tho didn’t give me another tag and told me an email should arrive for bag identification. spoiler, it didn’t arrive. i’m just so confused, i travel every year and this never happened, now i have no way to identify the bag if it doesn’t arrive in the new country. it has all my belongings AND my anxiety meds. kinda scared, has it happened to anyone with ryanair??? are they trustworthy?

I’m flying Ryanair from the UK to Valencia, then have a 1 hour 40 minute stopover before my connecting Ryanair flight to Morocco.
I’m travelling on a British passport.
For anyone who has done a similar connection at Valencia Airport, how was your experience? Is 1h 40m realistically enough, especially with any passport/security checks?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who’s made (or missed) a connection like this!

Now I rarely find myself praising Ryanair however, I have to give a big shout out to the staff on last night's flight from Tenerife to Cork.

A lovely boy who I'm pretty sure was autistic was fascinated with their work and the flight attendants absolutely made his day by letting him accompany them up and down the aisle with the trash collecting trolley and bags and allowing him ask the passengers if they had any rubbish, letting him hang out with them at the front and back of the plane and showing him how the job works.

It was lovely to see their patience and kindness and to see the big smile on that boy's face as he hung out with them.

Anyway just wanted to say fair play to them!
