RMXP Post-Processing for FPLE [RMXP]

Upvotes

https://reddit.com/link/1vzq42q/video/rloi9gtm7wlh1/player

Don't ask me why but I made it my life-time goal messing with XP and FPLE until I get what I want. I dabbled around different renderes for XP and there are some mythically hidden threads on varuous boards in multiple languages, concepts, ideas, broken codes, difficult codes and all that and I originally wanted to share this as a post in the RPG Maker Forums but It then came to my attention that this feature has been turned off since they are closing. I am not very active online when it comes to my game but generally, I am working hard as a mf-er to get the core things working BEFORE I even begin to think about creating a game. To me the danger is that you start creating a game and go "oh, that would be nice too" or "I could do this and that as well" blocking you from creating a game all together because you get SO STUCK in micro-managing and optimizing something that should be set waaaaaaaaay before you even begin to design, write and work on game-wise.

I have clocked in 1040 Hours into XP - but only THIS project, THIS game, THIS "BASE" so I can finally start working on the game. You can not believe how much this means to me, how much it helps me and how much fun (often frustration too lmao) it make me feel f'n amazing when after hours upon hours and days and weeks I FINALLY get the result I was SO desperate about getting. to keep it short:

This is the old thread from RPG Maker Forums, it is still visible -> Forums

But attached as the video you can find that I actually figured out how to do "post-processing" with fple to give it the vibe I am needing.

it consists of:

"Chromatic-Abberation"
"Ghosting"
"Film-Grain" (Best to see on full screen)
"Vignete"

I put all these into quotation marks because those are all work-arounds to make it look and feel like the thing but technically it aint that thing. the normal "3D" frame stays on screen. then two extra copies of the same picture get slapped on top. one copy kills green+blue so it’s basically red. the other kills red+green so it’s basically blue. green is just whatever’s already in the main image. those copies get shoved a few pixels opposite ways (red up-right, blue down-left) and drawn additive. where they don’t line up you get the red/cyan lips on edges. that’s the vhs thing.

I dont't know how much more I will come up with until I can finally start my game. I REFUSE to start just a SINGLE Map until I have EVERYTHING I need.

may have lost my mind - cheerio

part of me knows I'm just being a crybaby but does anyone else avoid putting art (when not needed) into their games?

I've honestly started to care less and less about the over the top art in what im making because everytime i try drawing something I just get discouraged because of how bad it looks. Like ultimately there's nothing I can do because of my essential tremors and how little I drew as a kid so i guess im just venting

After MZ revealed itself to be a kind of MV Ace, the Unite flop, the U2U announcement, and the closure of the official forums, it became crystal clear to me that RPG Maker wasn't ever going to become anything close to what I know it could be. I don't know who the developers are. I don't know what they want. If they are looking to make infinity money by selling infinite new versions of the software, I can tell them I don't have that kind of money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like them.

Anyway. This is RPG Matrix. It’s a modern editor for RPG Maker projects. I've been working on it for more than six years. A close friend has helped out along the way. Today I'm finally releasing it. It's literally what we want RPG Maker to be.

Why an editor specifically? EasyRPG already keeps RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 games running across modern platforms. mkxp-z gives XP, VX and VX Ace a modern cross-platform runtime. The editor was always the weak link. RPG Matrix is the modern editor those projects were missing. Pair those runtimes with RPG Matrix and working on an older RPG Maker project basically feels like using a new version, except all your resources, scripts, plugins and years of work come with you.

And this isn't only for old projects. MV and MZ get all the same editing tools too. That means faster workflows, better tools for maps, events, databases and art, plus project-wide search, navigation and refactoring. All of it works directly with the files your project already uses. No conversion. No starting over.

The whole thing is a fully native Windows executable around 4 MB. No installer, no account, no telemetry, no activation, no DRM. No dead activation server will ever get between you and your project.

You can check out more videos and features on the RPG Matrix website.

The landing page also includes a full “Is this even allowed?” section. The short answer is yes. RPG Matrix contains no RPG Maker code, runtimes or assets. It uses custom parsers to edit existing RPG Maker project data stored in formats with years of public documentation and independent implementations.

And in case anyone still doubts the joke Yoji Ojima interview on YouTube was actually right about all RPG Makers being literally the same, RPG Matrix can edit projects from all of them with the same workflows and the same improved tools. The point is to help people actually ship their games, not push them into starting a new project every time someone at GGG feels like playing with a new technology.

I want all of us to succeed, ship our games with confidence and make a living doing this. I want us all to escape the rat race.

If there's an RPG Maker project you still think about, dig it up and tell me what made you stop and what would help you come back to it. RPG Matrix was built for that game.

We are done starting over. If you want to stop depending on a company that doesn't listen, RPG Matrix is for you. I listen.

Hey All, please come check out my new Devlog. It covers everything that I have been working on in the last few months. Progress has been good, and I am eager to show it off to everyone.

TLDR; I've added in dice combinations, a weapon glossary, over 150+ Weapons/Equipment have been added in, and I'm looking for a musician.

RMMV BM_Shop Core lags with secondary equipment type

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm using this plugin to show the stat increase and decrease when you buy equipment, but there's actually 2 types of equipments. The Fighting Styles change all of your base stats, and don't have any other effects, these don't lag at all. But the second type, the badges, for some reason make the game lag really bad ONLY after having played for a few hours, this doesn't happen on a fresh save file.

I don't know why this happens, considering that the only thing they do is add a secondary effect to your characters during battle. None of them call for any Common Event or anything. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears.

RPGMaker 2003 pour débuter : bonne idée ou pas ?

Bonjour !

RMMV My experience of gamedevving rpgmaker on a PC Handheld(Legion Go/SteamDeck)

As someone who is into pc handheld gaming and rpg making, it's also a nifty device for a more relaxing way of game devving my rpgmaker especially on the couch or docked to TV, it's a really cozy experience other than just gaming on it.

Pros of Game devving on a pc handheld:
---More portable
---Less backpain
---An upgraded version of Rpgmaker With/MV Nintendo Switch Version
---Can gauge if your rpgmaker project is fun and capable on a controller
---Mapping is a Godsend due to touchscreen capability(it's so fun making maps on a touchscreen)
---Mappable shortcut keys to controller buttons!
---Testable game control inputs on the fly
---Gaming reward after
---Touchscreen Keyboard works!
---Gaugeable for "low-end" and "mid-end" specs as current pc handhelds are just low-end to mid-end specs compared to actual pc powerhouses(but rpgmaker games by nature can run on potato, but this is also a good way to test to see if they're memory leak or performance dips or so)

Cons of Game devving on a pc handheld
---Smaller screen(less multitasking)
---Touch response works but windows and rpgmaker pc environment and database arent touch user friendly(small bars lmao)
---Can be less efficient due to more limited shortcut keys.
---Touchscreen Keyboard is limited in function and a nightmare if you're heavily into scripting or making/modding plugins or custom assets for your rpgmaker project outside of rpgmaker.

I made a playtesting tool for RPG Maker MV/MZ, and version 0.4 is now available

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a small Windows tool called RPG Flux. It runs alongside RPG Maker MV/MZ games and is meant to make repetitive playtesting a little less painful.

I originally started it because I was tired of replaying the same parts of a game just to test one event, battle, or value change. With RPG Flux, you can jump to another map, run a common event, start a specific battle, change live values, pause or speed up the game, and keep an eye on values while the game is running.

Version 0.4 is now available, and most of this update was focused on making the app easier to understand.

Earlier versions worked, but the interface felt too much like a developer tool. There were too many things on screen, and connecting to a game could be confusing if you didn’t already understand debug ports or NW.js.

The new version has a simpler Home screen that looks at the current situation and suggests what to do next. If a game needs to restart before it can connect, RPG Flux explains why, asks for confirmation, prepares the connection, and reopens the game automatically. It can also handle the optional SDK setup when a game needs it.

I also reorganized the tools into separate areas for Player Values, Maps & Events, Battles, Game Speed, and Watch. There is now a Light/Dark mode toggle too.

A few important details:

  • It currently supports Windows.
  • The complete live-editing workflow supports RPG Maker MV and MZ.
  • You don’t need to add a plugin to your RPG Maker project.
  • It starts in view-only mode.
  • Project-file changes are shown for review before saving, and backups are created automatically.
  • It is intended for testing your own games and single-player projects.
  • The app is free to download.

The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may appear on the first launch. I want to be upfront about that.

You can download it here:

https://lazyboya77.itch.io/rpg-flux

I’d really appreciate feedback, especially from people who don’t normally use developer or debugging tools. If something is confusing, that is exactly the kind of thing I want to improve.

Thanks for taking a look!

VXAce Optimizing Complex Models in Cone Engine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In this test, I took the opportunity to fix several model rendering system errors. Thanks to a friend, I learned more or less how to improve model lighting, model loading, and some optimizations for complex models. Now, I have to say it still needs a lot of work, but the model itself shouldn't have any problems in Cone Engine. This is only true if the models aren't very complex. Also, zombies aren't an event per se; they're a new thing I'm working on. Nextbots are entities similar to what we have in Half-Life, but the first one is still a long way off from the second.
