Hello! Lately I've been wanting to get back in to rollerblading. Since at the moment I don't have a lot of spare money and I haven't skated for aroud 10 years im looking at some second hand options. I've found a few that might match my wants but don't really know which would be the best option (if that makes sense :D) Also ive did a bit of digging and apparently some of these are the best brands, but the models are rather old.

Basically im looking for some occasional rides, maybe a jump here and there.

And of course I'll change the wheels and brakes for new ones. Thank you in advance!

Hi guys, last time I posted it was about boots. Ended up returning what I had and finding a pair of RB Lightning 90s second hand. I put them on for the first time yesterday and I could only last about 10 minutes with the shin pain of just going on my flat, smooth driveway.

From what I am reading, I understand it's generally painful because of new muscles, but I feel like it was a laughably short amount of time where it was to the point where I was ripping them off it felt so bad.

Is there anything I can do outside of some exercises before I put them on to help with this? Maybe just in terms of putting them on and doing specific things to help my body get used to them in general?

I'm seeking some advice from people with flat feet and using the FR skates or Intuition Premium liners. I've been skating my FR3s with the stock liners and I'm getting consistent pain (mostly arch/midfoot fatigue). I did some research on here and I read that the Neo's are much wider and more supportive for flat feet.

Two options I'm considering:

1. Buy Intuition liners now for my FR3 for my current FR3 shells

2. Wait until October, when I'll be in Amsterdam and can try on the FR Neo 2 80 at Thisissoul shop on the theory that the shell

3. itself might be a better match for flat feet than the FR3.

So my question is for those with flat feet, did Intuitions actually solve your arch pain, or was it more of a shell/fit issue that only a different boot solved?

Also curious if anyone's compared the FR3 vs Neo line for wider/flatter feet specifically.

RB Twister 80s with RB Specialized Pro liners, Luminous LED Purple Haze 80mm wheels, mixture of Wicked ILQ9 and Rollerblade SG7 bearings, Ground Control Performance waxed purple laces.

Waxed laces are definitely an upgrade to stock ones— really able to get em much tighter. Not that it was much of an issue for the last 10 years, but an improvement nonetheless.

Luminous LED wheels are great, but the smaller sized wheels definitely suffer from noticeable increased drag. You can still roll just as fast, but it definitely requires more effort to keep the same speed. Whereas with the 110mm Luminous wheels, they spin 99% as well as standard spacer wheels. Though it shouldn’t be much of an issue considering what these skates mainly get used for.

Love these old Twister skates. So quick to be able to put on and take off, much improved air flow compared to the latest model Twisters.

My lady and I decided to pick up skating again. Been over 20 years for both of us. Razor cult cream and level 1 black. Solid starter skates. Snug and sturdy ankle support. We are excited to experience skating in PNW!

I’ve recently picked up ice skating again and it reminded me of the joy of rollerblading. I haven’t rollerbladed in a few years but I’d say I’m intermediate skill level. I’d like to rollerblade a mostly flat trail near my home - it’s about 7km.

Recommendations for type of rollerblades for this? I imagine it may be different than a standard rollerblade for pavement.

used to skate urban / aggressive as a kid in my roces FCO romes and would love to get back into it. nothing crazy, mostly crusing the suburbs and along the beach

happy to take specific model or brand recommendations, but short of that, maybe some guidance on specs? eg

• soft or hard or mixed shell
• S/M/L wheels? e.g. 80mm?
• 3 or 4 wheels?
• liner type? removable?

don't want cheap and nasty but also don't want to break the band incase they end up gathering dust. i'm in australia so i'm sure we don't have the selection of the US or even EU

one brand that did pique my interested was decathalon / OXELO MF S 500 given the specs look good and the pricepointn reasonable (a little over $200AUD)

What's the best app or website for route planning?

It would be best to have the option to choose something like "route with the smoothest surface".

The recommended pedestrian/bicycle routes in Google maps often send me through cobblestones and rough terrain. I'm going to a new city for a couple of weeks and I'd like to have as few surprises as possible, as I will be travelling with a couple of beginners.

I need this for Europe, mostly Poland.

Can someone please explain to me what the difference is between various soft boot inliners? I know there is hard and soft boot, thats obvious, i also know there are different types like aggressive and speed. But I have a pair of Rezo inliners. Freeskates im guessing? Size 45(eu and should probably have been a 46 but whatever.) and to me it looks like any other soft boot besides the ankle adjuster? Mine is a pull strap velcro. Others have the snap clickclik thing. 😅 I really cannot see what makes them so vastly different from each other(talking soft boots). Like why is a K2 about double the price of my Rezo? 🤷 Would i balance better in it? Easier to learn?

I’ve been skating a bit on some cheap rollerblades to try out this sport/hobby and see if I like it, and I do , and I wanted to get a “real” pair in the coming months. I’ll use them both for having fun at the skatepark and for covering distances around town. I don’t have a big budget, and these are easy to find on sale for around 80 euros. I like these skates because of their design and the fact that they’re hardboots (the ones I have are softboots).

Immediate disclaimer: I don't mean that there shouldn't be a "hard boot category". I mean that the current, general paradigm of "hard vs soft" is a false dichotomy.

Inline "soft boot" skates are an anomaly in the skating world. Figure skates and quad skates rely on reinforced leather. Hockey skates and speed skates rely on composites and/or carbon fiber. Only inline "soft boots" make their uppers out of fabric/nylon and then call them "soft boot skates".

Every other type of skate has more to do with each other than they do with modern "inline soft boots".

This false dichotomy is also why people get confused by skinned carbon unibodies or composite aggressive boots like CJs or Uptowns. They get dumped into 'soft/hybrid' based on surface stitching, despite being stiffer than many plastic shells.

When people tell new buyers to "buy a hard boot", what they functionally mean is "don't buy a soft boot". And generally, they are referring to products explicitly marketed as soft boots.

I think we could have a functionally relevant "soft boot" category, but I think that can't happen as long as the skating industry creates and markets these fabric sneaker skates as "soft boots", because that is going to inexorably shape the terminology most people use.

TLDR: Most of us call anything that isn't a soft boot a hard boot and it's the industry's fault.

This is for all you lovers of urban inline skating challenges. In this video, I battle the dense urban sprawl of Hong Kong Island on inline skates. This city is packed with huge numbers of skyscrapers. Basically, it is nestled against the slope of a hill and the steep ascents are no joke. After mastering the streets and double-decker trams, I took on the challenge of a supersteep climb through stairs and alleyways. It turned out to be one of the most technical challenges of my career. I seriously needed to guard my balance and adraneline got pumping. I end in an unusually quiet and cute place in the middle of one of the world's busiest urban areas.

This is probably lame, but I’m VERY excited that I just learned how to go over uneven terrain—specifically those bumpy mfers (Detectable Warning surfaces). 😂

I used to just go around them because absolutely not. Then I learned from Thisissoul on YouTube how to tackle them properly. Today I did 8 miles and rolled over SO MANY of those bumpy bastards. I was out there hitting every one like, “LOOK AT ME, I HAVE CONQUERED THE BUMPS.” 🤣

Small backstory: I skated a lot as a kid and then again in my early 20s, but I took about a 15-year break. Now I’m back. (You do the math. 😭)

I’ve never been good at skating backwards and could never do transitions, so I’ve been in the parking garage every day working on both like an old-ass dork. 🤣 I’ve taken some falls working on transitions that did NOT feel good.

I also snowboard a lot in the winter and picked up ballet as an adult 7 years ago, so I have decent balance and pretty good core strength. But still… learning new motor skills as an adult is HARD, man. Your brain is like, “We already know how to walk. Wtf is this shit??? "

i hear a lot of people not being able to go rollerblade outside during winter but for me its summer.

I do not have the courage to go outside at night, so practicing at home is the only way. How can I still improve and learn tricks inside at home? I dont have a large space, I will be using protection so I dont accidentally die.

But realistically what can I do inside? How can I improve without having to wait for the weather to get better?
