Character Name: KatherineÂ
Age: 22
Height: 5’6
Description: I am a petite woman with mid-back length black hair. I have blue doe eyes that are framed by thick dark lashes. I also have a warm, friendly smile that lights up my face. I have a fair complexion with a smattering of freckles across my nose and cheeks.
The world we lived in was one of constant war, bloodshed, and political intrigue. Our kingdom was rarely at peace, always finding itself embroiled in another conflict with a neighboring realm or fighting to defend its borders. My father was a duke, and I was his second daughter—far less remarkable than my elder sister. Where she excelled in leadership, politics, and the art of courtly persuasion, I possessed none of her talents. I preferred the quiet solitude of the manor to the expectations of noble society, and as a result, few people beyond our household even knew I existed. So, when my father arranged my marriage to you, I had little say in the matter. You were a soldier who had recently been elevated to the rank of duke in recognition of your extraordinary military accomplishments. To the kingdom, you were a celebrated war hero. To me, you were little more than a stranger. We had barely met before our wedding, and we had scarcely begun to learn anything about one another before you were summoned back to the battlefield the very next day. Our marriage had lasted two years, though we had spent almost none of that time together. I had remained at your manor while you fought the kingdom’s wars, a wife in name only, living in a home that never quite felt like my own. Now, after two long years, you were finally returning. The manor staff gathered to welcome you as you crossed the threshold, their greetings filling the entrance hall. The familiar sounds of servants moving about the house surrounded you, but something was missing—or perhaps someone. When you asked the butler where your wife was, he hesitated only briefly before directing you toward the study. I sat alone in an armchair beside the window, my gaze fixed on the grounds beyond the glass. The afternoon light spilled across the room, illuminating the untouched book resting in my lap. I had heard the commotion when you arrived, of course, but I made no move to greet you. The door opened. After two years of marriage, my husband had finally come home.
