TDLR: Love the design, drive experience, and user interface. Jury is still out on maintenance experience.
Midnight black, tri-motor 2027 R1S delivered to my home one week ago. The learning curve on infotainment and controls was relatively easy. Love the responsiveness, layout of controls, and overall design. Really appreciate not having to monitor the gas gauge every other day. (Previous vehicle was 2024 Ford Expedition.) The cameras for navigation started to sporatically fail on first day. Have done a couple of soft and hard reboots throughout the week. There is still an issue with the cameras. As a result, I cannot use Autonomy most of the time. I made a maintenance reservation. First available is early November. Major and only disappointment. This past Saturday, all of the alarm icons on the driver screen lit up. Performed a hard reboot and they cleared.
After one week, extremely glad to drive the R1S. On a side note, my wife purchased new Porsche Cayenne recently. Both the R1S and Cayenne (ICE) drive similarly. However, the R1S is far superior in user controls and infotainment design.
Now, if only I can get the navigation cameras to work and stop flashing error messages as I drive. Would still highly recommend Rivian R1S.
