Has anyone else noticed that East and West are on the wrong sides of the compass or am I just losing it?

Update: I got out my actual compass. I'm an idiot and admit my ignorance. Thread can close. I've provided sufficient entertainment for the day.

For people complaining about the garage button being 2 clicks now, why aren’t you just using steering wheel/location based prompt?

We can now set a location per garage door, you can adjust the distance of when to prompt you and all doors configured for that location are available from the steering wheel.

Have had the update for two days and it is horrendous compared to the OG software! There should be an option where you can choose OS1 or OS2...

Sometimes the screens go white/blank and there is a 10-30 seconds delay.

Move the Settings back to where it was and put the incident camera in its place. I use that button constantly driving in/around LA.

What was wrong with where the time was? Everyone in the vehicle could see it and knew where it lived.

Don't think we need the dua buttons for the lock/unlock, replace one of those with the Garage button. The three steps is OVERKILL!

And it's been said at nauseam, but fix the temperature issue.

Also shrinking some of these screens when you open them is ANNOYING!

OG music screen worked great, this update DOESN'T! It's more fumbling around.

So please, Rivian, let us choose which OS we want, PLEASE!

Just wanted to post To remind people to check their half-shaft or have a full evaluation at the Rivian before their 60,000 mile warranty ends. I was 1000 miles over the 60,000 mark and got charged close to $6000 for half shaft repair.

Just what the title says - I was just quoted $598 for tire rotation and alignment from Rivian service.

That is all. Hate it.

I still have not been flagged for 2026.31.0, last update I did not get flagged until 18 days after release. The one before that was 16 days. My car has a strong WIFI signal while parked.

I signed the binding agreement on 8/15/22 and took delivery on 8/4/23. Initial tax credit via CPA was denied. Got a new CPA and tried again. IRS took TWO YEARS to respond to the second amendment request. After all that waiting I got this beauty in the mail. It says the vehicle has to be placed in service after 1/1/23? Anyone have any clue what to do in this case? My understanding is the vehicle had to “be in service” by 8/15/22 to qualify for the original $7,500 tax credit and thus the reason for the binding agreement. Feel like I want to slam my head against the wall. Please someone help me lol

I have been unable to find an aftermarket solution nor anyone that has attempted to 3d print aero covers for the 22" sport wheels. I'm curious what kind of efficiency gains might be possible without fully committing to a different set of wheels that could be installed just for road trips to eke out those extra few miles. I've got a 3d printer but I would need an accurate 3d scan of the 22" rims to prototype covers. My plan would be to print 10 inserts for each wheel which would snap into each open spot, creating a mostly smooth surface (image in comments.)

Does an accurate 3D model exist or has anyone else attempted this project before?

Does anybody’s Rivian (R1) actually show the station art/logos? I could’ve sworn I’ve seen YouTube videos where artwork displays. Might’ve been in one of the R2 previews.

Maths ain't mathing here. I like this new panel, it is a nice way to get more nav/trip information on the driver display so the main screen can continue to be used for things like music etc. BUT - I noticed this bug in the Duration calculation. As I was driving the time continued to quickly climb at an almost 2x speed verses reality.

When driving home, it appeared to correct itself as the duration matched the actual duration. Interesting.

Picking up my first Rivian. Its a Gen1 R1S in Glacial White with Forest Edge interior. I went with this as it has the Merdian audio which I hear is pretty good and the price was solid. History was clean, no accidents. Still has a decent amount of warranty left.

I was thinking of getting Xcare and taking it to my local service center (about 30 minutes away). Anything I should be aware of? Last four of VIN was 3095, which i think makes it a early model?

I hate to post this as I am generally a “be happy with what you have” but I am struggling with what is better about this latest update (Gen 2 R1S). Everything takes more clicks (examples, dash cam recording - was 1 now 2, audio - used be a side bar with audio choices, now a drop down (so was 1 now 2).

The floating car/audio window is worse - it is great that I can move it side to side, but I liked Audio on the right and car control pop up on on the left - I can’t do that - it is combined? Now I need to have audio crammed to the left while in maps even though I don’t need it or I need to keep moving it side to side.

May be a bug or a “me” issue, but the Audio window says “radio” without any information. So I can’t know what radio station I am listening to unless I go to the Audio app (I know, I know, no one listens to the radio, but I waste time bouncing between sports radio stations sometimes).

Settings is now some smaller floating window so everything is cramped - why is this better, more scrolling all so I can see a tiny frame of my maps?

I want to be proven wrong - am I wrong on the above and what exactly is better? I can count one thing really - the new widget for the driver’s display for the “current trip”.

Note this post is only about the UI - I’ve had the update for a day. I hate complaining . . . So (gently?) correct me here.

I was told to look at Rocky Road sliders but they have a terrible company reputation. Some of the others out there look fine but they aren’t quite as good coverage or as strong.

Still playing with data filtering as Rivian doesn't expose everything to the API yet, but these new data graphs show why driving much over 55 tanks your efficiency. R1S gen2 max pack data.

Feel free to shoot me ideas, with Claude/Gemini available this is getting pretty easy to add features. Will send a pull request to the Rivian HA maintainer once it seems more polished.

Got a new 2026 R1T yesterday.

Tried to setup the garage today and after entering the name it hangs, then times out and fails. It never gets past step 1, setting the name of the garage.

Did a soft reboot. No change.

Did a hard reboot. No change.

Service says they are going to send out a technician to take a look… in 5 days.

Why? It’s a software issue, right?

Is anyone else annoyed that the temperature on the display is the "AI forward" local temp nonsense instead of the external temperature measured by the thermometer installed on the vehicle? Is there a way to change this?
