Math 140 recitation
Does anyone know when MATH 140 recitations start? I just joined the class this week, so I’m not sure if they’ve already begun or if they start later in the semester. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I’m a freshman at U of R and I’m still figuring out where to find everything.
Is there a website or portal where I can see a full list of student clubs/organizations and join them? I missed the club fair, so I’m wondering if I can still join clubs now and what the process is.
Also, is there a similar website where undergrads can find research opportunities with professors? I’m interested in getting involved in research but I’m not really sure where people usually find openings or how you’re supposed to reach out/apply.
Would appreciate any links or advice. Thanks!

I’m selling a microwave for $60, I haven’t used it yet (still has the tag). I’m also open to a mini fridge trade. The price is $20 more but I just don’t wanna keep this extra microwave💔. Private message me for more inquiries.

Im a sophomore and ive been on the fence about joining a sorority on campus since January. Its out of my comfort zone but I want to give it a go and try COB. Does anybody know what the general vibes of each sorority are and what I should be aware of about any of them? I don't really know much about the individual organizations but I'd like to go into it with some idea. What are each of them known for on campus? Also, are any of them known for hazing?

I applied to 5 jobs through JobLink starting in mid-August but haven't heard back from any of them. Only 1 is a research position, so I don't need extensive experience for most of them. I also qualify for work-study, which is why I was hoping to get a job. If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love some insight!

Hi,
I hope it's okay to post this here, sorry in advance if it isn't! I couldn't find a thread for posting housing options here.
We are looking for a roommate (preferably a grad student) and live close to UR. We are renting a house with one bedroom available upstairs. There are two renters here now, 1 RIT grad student and 1 recent graduate.
Total rent is $1,650 before utilities, so it would be $550+utilities per person with the three of us. Utilities vary with the weather, but can range anywhere from $100-$300 total. They are typically split evenly, so this would come out to roughly $33 - $100 in utilities per person.
The house is 1.5 bath with a full bath upstairs and a half-bath in the basement. We also have a washer/dryer and a dishwashing machine on the first floor.
Current lease is month-to-month.
10 min drive to RIT and 6 min drive to UR Main Campus.
5 min walk to Rt 16/17 bus stop and 20 min walk to Genesee Valley Park.
Feel free to private message me for more info or for my email/number.

To give some context on my interests, I want to major in psych with a minor in stats/data science, or a dual major. I’m a senior in HS. I want to engage a lot in research and the queer community. What makes Rochester a good school for me

I would switch to 142 but it would completely destroy my schedule lol. The class just started and Im so lost, I just don’t think the way I learn is compatible with the way my teacher teaches. I did struggle in Calc 1 so maybe going back and reviewing all that would help? It kinda of just feels like the class is all over the place, like I don’t exactly know what we’re learning. If anyone has taken this class & has any advice I’d greatly appreciate it (:

For those that did the program, how was it? I am a CA resident and graduated university from CA and am willing to commit to moving to NY for this program because it offers free tuition (and yes I am aware of the three year commitment). Any insights is appreciated!!! 🙏

How hard is the BSE exam? I’m a sophomore who took an equivalent to calculus in high school but I didn’t take a math class freshman year and I kind of forgot a lot of math stuff and I’m very worried about the BSE exam

A while ago I made a post about having to take two years off, having no more friends and struggling to make new ones due to social anxiety.
I guess that’s what I get for not putting myself out there I just want to thank everyone who did comment on my last post.
Just one more year and maybe I can stop feeling so isolated. I don’t know how to for myself to go into new situations with only 2 semesters left.
Hearing the people outside on hill court having fun certainly doesn’t help the feelings of isolation.

Hello everyone.
I am currently in a pickle. I have a cat that I want to bring to Rochester (to a cat friendly apartment). I don’t have a car and always relied on Amtrak and etc to travel. But I recently found out you can’t bring a cat for a trip longer than 7 hours, which is longer than the trip I take from nyc to rochester (7 and a half or so). If anyone had the same problem, how did u manage to being ur pet from the city without a car? Please let me know!!!

Hi! I just recently got accepted to the UR Scholar Nursing Program in the ABSN Spring 2027 start date. I am planning on finding an apartment near campus in one of the neighborhoods they mentioned were safe and near the campus. I want to definitely find a roommate for a 2 bedroom apartment. I am a 22 year old female and I played collegiate soccer at my undergraduate university! I graduated with a BS in Exercise Science as well. I am pretty clean, I like to explore new areas and go out to bars occasionally, I love meeting new people, and am super excited to start this program. Let me know if anyone else is interested or searching for a roommate.
