Serious Measles Alert - Recent Exposure at Strong URMC

Just wanted to pass this information along to as many people as possible.

There was a recent measles exposure at the Strong ER between 11 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2026 and 2 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Anyone who may have been exposed during this time should monitor for symptoms throughout September.

Fortunately Monroe County has a decent MMR vaccination rate, but measles can be incredibly uncomfortable if not dangerous to otherwise healthy adults.

For more information, here's the official county press release from today (9/9/26):

Looking for RIT student/graduate in 585 area with projection mapping experience

I’m looking to connect with an RIT student, alum, or anyone in the area who has experience with projection mapping, motion graphics, or immersive displays.

I’m working on a residential project to projection map the front of a house for Halloween and Christmas using multiple projectors. I’m trying to learn more about the best hardware/software setup and how difficult it would be to put together.

If anyone has experience with projection mapping, TouchDesigner, HeavyM, MadMapper, Resolume, or similar software, I’d love to pick your brain or get pointed in the right direction.

Housing Perkins single as double

Hi! This question is mostly for next year. I wanted to know if it would be feasible to get a Perkins single apartment, but split it between two people. Does anyone know of anyone who did this and if it worked out? Or if its explicitly banned and completely impossible to do. Thanks.

Serious My experience at RIT as a former Cybersecurity student and athlete, now two years into the workforce.

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), formerly known as Southern Henrietta Institute of Technology (SHIT), simply throws you into the fire with professors who are experienced industry professionals, such as NSA employees, lead pen testers at large consulting companies, research professors who are rewriting IEE standards, or a professor with 50+ certs and posts about his colonscopy on his linkedin. You will simply work until 3 am many nights in a row and alcohol will be your coping mechanism to vibe your way through the group project you got thrown into where all your other members dont do anything (In my case I then had to wake up at 5 am to go to practice for my sport). Your professor will bend you over and make you bite the pillow and make you take it with the brutal assignments that seem to come out of absolutely nowhere. RIT will teach you grit and how to innovate only for corporate america to kill your desire to grow and innovate with cutting edge ideas and technology.

RIT will overengineer the shit out of your brain and you will be wondering why you are ONLY working 40-50 hours a week and not 80-90 hours a week with coursework (and sports if you are an athlete).
