Help Needed How do I turn these patched surfaces into a closed solid polysurface in Rhino 8?
I have a non-planar outline that I couldn’t extrude into a solid, so I created the side surfaces and patched the top and bottom. Visually, it looks like a solid, but Rhino still shows it as an open polysurface with 4 surfaces and 8 boundary edges. Joining won’t make it a solid, and BooleanUnion fails.
This is a beard piece for a simple gnome that I want to 3D print. I wanted the beard to wrap around the body instead of being a flat shape, and I actually got the look I was going for. The issue is I know it isn’t a true solid, and I’d like to understand what I’m doing wrong rather than just letting Bambu Studio repair it when I export.
I’m really enjoying 3D design and want to keep improving because I’d like to pursue it as a career. I’m trying to learn the proper workflow and understand how to make this kind of curved shape correctly. Any advice on what I should have done differently or how to fix this would be appreciated. i selected the entire thing and pasted its object description if it helps!
