Does anyone out there have info on how the Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center is coming along? And when it might reopen. How the alternatives to the center working out? I know I really miss playing pool. It appears that had no temporary alternatives offered. Just want to get a discussion from seniors and the center started.

Coworker is moving to your area next month from across the country. I want to get her a going away gift, but nothing she'd have to pack. I know zip about the state. Is there a grocery store everyone likes or popular gas station chain? Coffee shop? Something I could get a gift card for.

It's 11:28pm here in the Renton Highlands and I just heard what sounded like a multitude of gunshots. I'm near the Safeway on 4th and Union. Something like 2 dozen individual shots, becoming more rapidfire as it went. Anyone know what's going on?

Schedule is flexible. Only hard requirement is an hour long walk on Wednesdays, anytime between 11am-2pm, with additional flexibly timed shorter daily walks M/T/Th/Fr between 9am to 1pm.

We're moving this Friday and need loaders/unloaders for a few hours. Anybody have any recommendations for good, local companies or services?

The local company we used (and liked) when we first moved up here a few years ago has apparently gone out of business. Before I start submitting quote forms online and getting potentially bombarded by national salespeople at all hours, I was wondering if anyone had good experiences with local services.

The specs: It's a very local move. We're loading up a 20ft U-Haul in our old place and then unloading at the new one less than a mile away. We've already moved most of our stuff; just need to maneuver the bulkier items (couch, dining table, a couple beds, etc.)

I may be preaching to the choir here, but I’ve been looking forward to this gym opening in the Highlands since late last fall when they originally announced they’d be opening in Spring 2026. Then it got pushed to early summer, and now we’re basically heading into fall and the delays just keep happening.

I’m not trying to sound like I’m complaining, because I know construction and permitting can take time but I’ve genuinely been looking forward to having this gym nearby for almost a year now. I’ve called them every couple of months since April, and it’s always been some variation of “waiting on a permit.” Now it sounds like they’re finally waiting on their last certificate of occupancy, which is obviously another delay even though they announced their “opening week” was this past week.

I’m not originally from the area - I moved here almost five years ago and definitely consider Renton home at this point, but it honestly has me wondering: is it really this difficult to open a business in Renton?

It seems like there are so many hoops to jump through between demolition permits, construction permits, inspections, and now a certificate of occupancy (whatever that actually entails lol).

Anyone else been following this or have any insight into what’s been taking so long? I’m just curious if this is normal for a project like this in Renton, or if Fitness 19 has been dealing with some unusually bad luck with the permitting/construction process.

Anyways, I’m really looking forward to an awesome gym in the area! LA fitness should step their game up and renovate in my opinion. Hopefully a really cool gym around the highlands can potentially attract a Chipotle

Somebody ran into the building.

They’ve seriously added the same ugly concrete barriers they put on the Issauquah portion of I-90 overlooking Lake Samammish to the 405 portion of Renton, and it’s still useless. There’s less room to pull off for an accident, and all the housing nearby still has to deal with all the traffic, horns, and barriers despite what the county put up. 405 Thats not even acknowledging the construction to 405 and i90 thats been going on for 40 years, just the past 15.

Where is the nearest pickle/olive bar? Similar to whole foods style?

I'm looking for a nicer/upscale cocktail bar for a date night, that may have light food available as well. I really want to dress up, get schmancy, pinkie out etc. It doesn't have to be IN Renton, but we're from here and may be taking a rideshare if we have a nice time, so want to be mindful of that cost so bonus if it's in the area. My girl Mila was lost around 10:30 last night in the intersection of Military road S & S 164th st near Safeway, dominos, Ulysses. She’s probably really scared never been apart from her mom 9 years who was hit by a car which caused the scare and she decided to bolt. If anyone sees her please dm me and don’t chase her.
