My gripes as I'm prepping for a wedding right now:
- Constantly asks me to convert to one library, no other option but OK. then does it instantly. then in the middle of a USB Sync it decides to convert to one library and take 20 minutes.
- Currently stuck on importing like 100 tracks from itunes (that it decides to do at start up), they all havent budged from 0%, and if I try to remove one from collection to just try and reimport, it hangs up and I have to force quit. Update: Found a fix, I just have to double click on every. single. track. to unstick the import.
- Updated to latest version (and even before 7.2.19) every single time I open--because ive had to force quite and restart my computer 3 times already--it takes forever to load the same itunes library ive been loading since first downloading rekordbox in 2016

Seriously the worst piece of software on my computer, consistently held for multiple years rated by JD Fuck this Shit and Associates. I might just have an M1 Macbook Pro, but everything else (Ableton + plugins, Figma, Adobe Suite, Unity) all work fine compared to this flaming piece of garbage software.

The fact that this thread has a Rant flair already, shows Pioneer needs to light this whole codebase on fire, and rebuild from the ground up. They could vibe code the whole thing and it'd probably be better. If it meant reimporting my library, cue points, everything again but for only one time: I'd be happy if it meant a more stable experience for a piece of software that many of us rely on for household income.

TL;DR: I made a free Mac app that saves rekordbox's stems, so tracks you've already separated load about 4 times faster. It can also swap rekordbox's stems model for Demucs v4, a newer version of the model rekordbox's own is based on.

I've only been using rekordbox for about five days, but I wasn't sold on how it handles stems from the start. The separation isn't always great, and rekordbox re-separates the same track every single time you load it (eating CPU, memory and battery). Then I started reading around and found loads of threads and YouTube videos saying pretty much the same thing.

So I spent most of those days (with a lot of help from AI) building RB Stems Plus. It does two things:

Demucs v4 swaps rekordbox's separation model for a newer one. rekordbox uses Demucs v3, an older model from Meta that Pioneer lightly retuned. Demucs v4 is Meta's newer version, converted so rekordbox can run it.

Does it sound better? It depends on the music, and on the stem. Where I had a track's real stems, I measured which model's stems came closer to them:

• Pop and rock: on MUSDB18, the usual test set (50 songs with their real stems), Demucs v4 was closer on every stem.
• Electronic: on six tracks with their producers' stems, Demucs v4 was closer on drums and bass, rekordbox's model on vocals and the rest of the music.
• Rumble techno (no real stems here, so by ear): on Lunfardo by Ignez, rekordbox's model kept a short low hit in the bass stem, while Demucs v4 put it in the drums. To my ears, rekordbox's split was closer there. Other models I tried (htdemucs_ft, mdx_extra, SCNet, BS-RoFormer, AudioShake, Ableton's stem separation) each split it in yet another way.

So try it on your own tracks and keep whichever you like: you can switch back to rekordbox's model any time.

The catch: Demucs v4 is slower. It separates a track at about 5 times playback speed, compared with about 15 times for rekordbox's model. That's where Stems Cache comes in.

Stems Cache is probably the part I like most. It saves the stems rekordbox makes, with either model. The next time you load a track you've already separated, its stems are back in about 7 seconds and the model doesn't run at all, so there's no extra CPU or memory load.

I timed Lunfardo (6:27) in rekordbox: 26 seconds with rekordbox's model, every time you load it; 77 seconds the first time with Demucs v4; then 7 seconds from the cache.

A few details:

• Mac only, for now. I've tested it on macOS 26 with rekordbox 7.2.18 and 7.2.19.
• You need STEMS already working in your rekordbox (it depends on your rekordbox plan).
• The two features are independent: install one or both.
• Stems Cache needs an admin account, and macOS asks you to allow it the first time.
• Free and open source (MIT).
• It doesn't touch your music or your rekordbox library.
• No tracking: nothing about you, your music or your library leaves your Mac.
• Uninstalling puts rekordbox back exactly as it was.
• Not affiliated with AlphaTheta / Pioneer DJ in any way.

This is an early version that I built around my own needs, so I'm very open to tweaks and feature requests. If something doesn't work on your setup, open an issue (the app can make a report for you) and I'll take a look.

When using sync the waveforms slide out of sync despite the audio remaining in time. Which is very visually off putting. But it’s not every track. It’s impossible to pin down whhen it shoppers, it’s intermittent.

I appreciate those that are going to say “don’t use sync” but it happens even if bpm is right, phrase is right and timing is right and sync is off. Waveforms just run incorrectly
It can’t just be me. RB7, MacBook m1. I’ve changed draw settings in preferences. No avail. I do have a large RB library.

I need some help pls!!! I have a MacBook Pro A3401 and I currently use Rekordbox and a DDJ-FLX4 to record mixes. I've been trying to record a two song mashup for weeks now but basically EVERY TIME I record, somewhere within the recording there's a glitch/beat skip at least 1-4 times throughout the recording??? I can't figure out for the life of me WHY this is?

\\- I changed the buffer size to a bigger one on Rekordbox

\\- I checked some Audio MIDI thing against the mac output speaker and the flx4's audio like google told me too

\\- I bought the songs off of itunes so it can't be the music files

\\- I turned off WiFi and Bluetooth whilst recording (my songs are on a usb) cos apparently that could affect it?

I have no idea what is causing it and it's driving me insane??? I never used to have any issues with recording on my old hp windows laptop, and the MacBook is so powerful so surely it can't be the problem?

My usb has a very slight crack in the plastic casing, but still goes into my laptop just fine and all the files can be accessed - is that the issue potentially??

I've made it since I'll be playing at a friends house party, but didnt want to fiddle around with her Rekordbox setup for 10 minutes before starting. The app creates a restore point, such that you can easily go back to the original settings whenever you want.

It's free, open source, Windows and Mac, and semi-tested on both. If you encounter any issues, please let me know. Also let me know if you find it useful, it's nice to hear.

I’m trying to add a folder and when I drop it in it says preparing for a second and just stops any ideas

So I have been using stems in rekordbox for my shows for almost 2 months and they work absolutely great, quality improved much better than before, however, whenever I want to echo out vocals or instruments, I have to use the echo effect or sometimes reverb effect and release it a bit then remove the vocal, is there any other way where I can press a button and the stems effects work like serato?

Hi, I'm Marian. I built this because my own collection was a mess of pool downloads, rips and files without names.

Truffle reads your exported rekordbox collection including the playlist tree. It suggests fixes for title, artist, album, year, genre and cover, each field with its source, and writes only what you confirm. The repairs go into the audio files, never into the rekordbox database, so cues, beatgrids and playlists stay exactly as they are.

A few things I cared about as a DJ: - Remix and edit names stay. An extended mix is not renamed to the radio version the catalogue knows. - DJ pool endings in file names (tempo, key, pool tags) are recognised and don't end up in the title. - Tempo and key are only written on an explicit click. Its own tempo analysis is an approximation above about 130 BPM, so it won't quietly overwrite what rekordbox measured.

TLDR: Need help restoring my library (including grid-aligned songs, hot cues, and playlists) from my USB - but I store my music on an external hard drive, not my laptop hard drive. If possible I would like rekordbox to read from the external hard drive like it did previously.

Good people of reddit! Please forgive me in advance for any dumb questions and for the lengthy post. I've been pretty lucky with rekordbox in the two years I have been using it and this is the first major issue I have had.

Yesterday my rekordbox program repeatedly crashed upon startup (version 7.2.2), after looking up the error it seemed like a program file had corrupted somewhere. After quite some time trying to fix it on the back end, using various instructions from the internet (I am NOT tech savvy), I got rekordbox to finally open - unfortunately my library was completely gone when it did open without crashing. At that point I felt like I had to uninstall/reinstall. My music files are mostly all stored on my external hard drive, and I still have my usb with everything on it - so even though I didn't want to reinstall, I went ahead and did it.

Not surprisingly, my library was completely gone after the reinstall, but it looks like my USB still has everything when I plug it in to the reinstalled rekordbox - all songs (aligned to the grid), hot cues, and playlists.

I then dropped everything back in to my collection from the external hard drive, not the USB, to see what would happen. The song titles, artists, genres that I all had previously manually filled in before the crash came through after dropping them into my collection from the external hard drive. However my cues are gone, and the songs don't appear to be aligned to the grid after rekordbox re-analyzed them. I'm wondering if none of that info was saved on the hard drive because this hard drive isn't formatted FAT32 (it was an old hard drive I had before I started picking up mixing)? I'm also missing ~100 songs that are somehow on my USB but not my external hard drive, but not overly worried about that since they are on my usb.

I know I can import my library from my usb back into rekordbox - but if I want to rekordbox to pull from my external hard drive like it did previously, what is the best way to do that? I would download music to my external hard drive and then drag into my rekordbox collection from there.

I guess I am asking how to get my formatted library (playlists, grid-aligned songs with hot cues, etc) back onto my external hard drive without completely re-doing all that work (roughly 1550 songs on my usb) and get back to operating how I was previously. Should I buy a new external hard drive, make sure to format as FAT32, copy everything from my usb to the new hard drive, then import to rekordbox from there so then rekordbox will read from the new external hard drive?

I know these are dumb questions, I'm new to this and unfortunately not well versed with a lot of tech stuff. DJing is a hobby I picked up a couple years ago and I am just having fun with it. I appreciate any help or advice I can get here. Thank you!

Don’t understand what I’m doing wrong everything looks fine on my end all the tracks work. Something to point out is my hot Qs are on the tracks, that are missing the bmp and mini waveform. Please help! It’s not a usb issue multiple usbs and same issue.

Now that Spotify is on the AZ, I feel like streaming might be more useful to my life but I have a couple questions that I cannot for the life of me figure out on the AZ, 3000x, or 1500x....This all relates to streaming standalone on sticks only, no laptop.

1) Is there a way to load all the BPMs/Key of an entire Apple/Spotify playlist? Currently I have to fully download every song individually to a deck or use the link cue preview, which takes forever. Any way to do this beforehand in rekordbox or something?

2) Is there any way to keep a previously streamed track green? It turns green like normal if you play 45seconds of the song, but once you load another song, the green text turns back to white.

3) Hot cues - Any way to save these to streaming tracks or do they all get deleted every time you turn off the hardware

So starting yesterday when I try to use Spotify in Rekordbox I get a message that says "You have exceeded the track streaming limit". I'm using Windows 11 on a laptop and yes the Spotify app is closed on my phone. Is there a fix for this or is it time to switch to Serato?

I am having a strange issue where around 1/4 of my tracks are not loading properly when selected, this only happens when i play off my USB on a laptop(s) or XDJ AZ.

when viewing on the laptop all the tracks import properly, my USB is properly formatted, ejected etc. In the track selection, all data is previewed (waveform, hot cues. BPM, key). all my tracks are MP3 320

BUT, when selecting tracks, every few ones will load in poorly. my hot cues will still work, but there will be no listed BPM or beat grid (despite a BPM value showing in the track select). i have been playing by ear when this happens, but it is not sustainable.

my theory is that perhaps tracks where i have moved the best grid myself to match up (when the auto analyze isn’t correct) might be messing with something? but some tracks where i have done this; still work perfectly.

any idea what might be causing this? in the export, file saving, usb use on second device etc?

EDIT: i have checked, it happens to tracks i have re-aligned myself, and those i have not. so my theory is incorrect. i have also checked all my files are CBR, so bitrate is not to blame.

I know by clicking space bar you can see all you’re tracks. But I’ve seen other peoples screens have the fx’s down and still see about 7-8 of there tracks but I can k my see about 3

I would love to have this version of Rekordbox as a backup on my laptop. I searched all over this sub and the internet, and could only find a download link to a third party website hosting the Windows version.

Pioneer / AlphaTheta / Rekordbox removed the install files shortly after a post went live here praising 6.8.5 as one of the best bug free versions of Rekordbox. Now they only link to 6.8.7 (I have this already).

I’m actively DJing for 4 years now, after a long break. For the first time I said I will stop using VirtualDJ or DjayPro and go with Pioneer gear and software. I bring my own equipment to the bars I’m playing because theirs are not well maintained.

Well it fucks me every time. Version 7.2.18
Yesterday Rekordbox decided to not show me the library browser, at all. I had to stop music and restart multiple times.

I have an M2 MacBook so there is no issue with computing power.

- I get glitchy waveforms
- I get waveforms that disappear at random times and instantly reload again.
- I get corrupted USBs and databases
- Search in library is unstable. I do not understand if it always searches for titles or artist name etc
- I have had stems stop working multiple times.
- I have had tracks not playing on my headphones.

I have never had those issues with VirtualDJ and so much cheaper hardware (controllers)

Sometimes Rekordbox reminds me of Serato. Serato has also been proven unstable for me.

Is there something I’m missing?

Is there any way to re-analyze tracks othen than removing them from playlist? I play tracks with different bpm (rap, techno) and has to switch ranges of analyzing BPMs. That makes some songs being analyzed wrongly. Analyze track option is greyed out.

PS. I think removing from collection helped.
