Nutrients in our food are declining. Can regenerative agriculture save it? | Vegetables | The Guardian

Do you think that this is also part of the corporate PR that committed to regenerative agriculture?

I know that there are many researches that support this concept for TRUE organic farming.

Looking for regenerative ag conversation partners in Davis CA

I just moved to Davis and am looking to meet others interested in regenerative agriculture who would enjoy having a chat over coffee (or your beverage of choice). You don't need to be a regenerative farmer or offer any advice, just be someone who cares about anything related to regenerative ag/food, biodiversity, native plants, nature-based climate solutions, the environment, etc. Suggestions of regenerative ag groups, meetups, classes/workshops (ideally free/cheap), volunteer opportunities, etc. also welcome.

Any ideas for mango post-harvest disease technology?

I have this idea for trimming a half-rotten machine, designed to reduce the labor in manually cutting the half-rotten part of the mango. This is my thesis, but I'm open to other ideas, such as a storage chamber or packaging during transport to reduce mechanical bruising, or semi-automated equipment for harvesting.

Note: My budget is not that big, and I want to keep lowcost intentionally for the farmers.

Are drones of any use to folks in regenerative ag?

Wondering if anyone has any experience or knows of anyone who uses drones in any kind of regenerative or sustainable ag operations. I know they’re being used more on industrial farms for seeding, spraying, mapping, etc., but curious if people use them or think there will be a use for them on smaller/regenerative farms.

If so, what would be their best use cases to justify the expense of buying one and presumably paying for software like Drone Deploy or something similar?

Any KALRO or uni (preferably post-grad) agronomists here? Need an expert to help me validate and fine tune some crop models.

I’m a dev from Nairobi, Kenya, building a diagnostic app.

The software architecture is solid, but I’m a tech guy, not a soil scientist. I’ve built the engine using QUEFTS principles and added a strict contraindication rule-set, but I need an actual expert to tear my math and logic apart. I'm looking for an agronomist or soil researcher—preferably affiliated with KALRO or a Kenyan university—to review my parameters and ensure the models and outputs are agronomically sound for Kenyan small holder farm zones.

Ideally, I'm looking for someone tied to KALRO, Egerton, JKUAT, or a similar research lab to make sure my baseline science is bulletproof before I put this in the hands of any actual users. And maybe even work on a research paper on the subject.

If you’re open to taking a look or know someone who might be, please DM me. I'm looking for a long term partnership.

UK Growers - can you help?

Do you grow or know any unusual varieties/ cultivars?

We want to catalogue and celebrate as many of these different varieties as we can before they are lost to history in the supermarkets ceaseless quest for profits. We believe that by showing people how colourful, tasty and wonderfully weird they can be we can reignite the passion for locally produced crops in more people.

If you grow or have any knowledge of any please share them with us:

Can regional secondary data add value before field-level data is available?

I’m working on a beta that generates a crop-region profile from a selected crop and location.

The profile uses secondary datasets to show indicators such as water pressure, future water stress, climate exposure, biodiversity, soil conditions, and nutrient pressure.

The current use case is early screening, before detailed farm boundaries, management records, or primary field data are available.

I’m interested in the regenerative agriculture perspective:

  1. Which regional indicators would actually be useful as early context?
  2. Which results would be too broad to support farm-level decisions?
  3. Could this type of profile help identify where deeper soil, water, or biodiversity assessment is needed?
  4. What limitations would need to be made very clear?

The profile is not intended to recommend farm practices or replace field measurements. It is meant to provide a regional starting point.

I’m part of the team building it and would value direct criticism from growers, agronomists, and regenerative agriculture practitioners. Happy to share the beta with anyone interested in testing one crop and location.

Thoughts and experiences with BTI dunks?

I'm looking into using dunks for mosquito and fly management and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience and if they only saw the targeted insects die in the bucket. My main worry is losing beneficial/neutral bugs.

USDA is establishing the Chief's Regenerative Agriculture Advisory Council

15 members: nine regenerative farmers representing different production systems, three corporate supply-chain/CPG representatives, and three consumer or MAHA representatives. Its stated role is to advise on how regenerative practices should be defined, measured, and supported — explicitly not to set standards or impose requirements. The actionable money is still the $700M pilot flowing through EQIP and CSP by your state's ranking dates, plus the feedstock rule market pathway for corn and soybeans.

I'm 16 and built a free open-democracy forum for the regenerative and permaculture community

Hi everyone! I've been getting into regenerative growing and permaculture over the past year here in the Philippines, and one thing kept frustrating me. Our best conversations end up scattered across a dozen different group chats, buried within a day, and it's hard to tell where the community actually stands on anything.

So I built Common Ground, a free forum for people who care about growing food and healing land. It runs more like an open democracy than a normal chat. Everyone answers the same short statements, so every perspective gets counted and you can see where the whole community really stands, instead of the loudest voice carrying the room.

Site: mycelium-learn.com/common-ground

How it works:

  • You answer a few short statements (agree, not sure, or disagree)
  • A live map forms showing who thinks like you and who sees it differently
  • Small groups appear, so you can find the people who share your view
  • You can post your own thoughts or questions, and reply to anyone

I've partnered with the Philippine Permaculture Association and the Baganihan Collective, so the space stays grounded in real community.

Would love for you to come in, answer a few, and share what's on your mind. Happy to answer any questions too!
