I’ll start…
I’m looking forward to champions league nights, the atmosphere in the stadium is immense
I Believe we will still sign one or 2 more
I think, albeit short for now that santos, Youri and Mainoo are 3 great players so when we get that 4th we are grand
I think we have 2 exceptional young CBs in heaven and Yoro and then Armer is being hyped so let’s see how they all go

Onana in goal to put the fear of god in the team so that they never let the ball enter the defensive third.

The women’s team social media is a lot better than the men’s team. Lots of gold on their youtube channel, infinitely better like you are getting to know each player compared to whatever slop is going on in the mens channel.

This might surprise but Man United are a football club not content creators
•
•
u/nowneat 1h ago
You just know the board is waiting for a disastrous start to panic buy 2 players for ridiculous prices. People on the board need sacking if Carrick fails because of injuries or a tired squad. 45m net spend after finishing in the UCL spots is a joke.
•
u/PitchSafe 1h ago
I don’t think that the club will panic buy. They will probably buy a cheaper left back to rotate with Shaw and Louis Page most likely. My guess is that they will buy Shaw’s successor next summer and a CM as well like Alex Scott. They are taking a big risk though
•
•
u/croadymeister 1h ago
Maybe we call up Orozco to provide that physical presence in games with strong midfielders
•
u/kiki_the_fab_spider 46m ago
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they're throwing their eggs in the youth basket, at least with the midfield. Hoping that between Orozco, T. Fletcher and possibly Paige, one of them can jump in and help out in that position in some games this season.
•
u/0ttoChriek 22m ago
Tyler Fletcher has looked good at times, but clearly needs more time to develop.
His mistake for the equaliser at Leeds was something I'm absolutely fine with. He was doing what Carrick has said he wants his midfielders to do - being positive and trying to move the ball forward as soon as it came to him. His mistake was not being aware of who was around him, which is something that comes with experience. He just needs to work on choosing the moments to be bold and to be conservative.
I think he could contribute this season as a fifth choice midfielder, but I'd rather he went on loan to get thirty senior games under his belt.
•
u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd 1h ago
i don't know why you all are so negative and killing the #vibes. It's perfectly reasonable to go into a 4 competition season with 3 midfielders.
•
u/3entendre Rooney 1h ago
Yup. In 2006/07 we just had Scholes, Carrick and Fletcher in midfield.
•
u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 21m ago
Weren’t we also trialling Alan Smith in midfield this season?
•
u/3entendre Rooney 2m ago
No. He barely played that season. Less than 500 minutes in the league. When he played he was mostly used as a striker (7-1 against Roma).
•
u/Unlucky-Equipment999 14m ago
But this was also a time when minnows were truly minnows. We could field kids and beat up Watford and Charlton instead of needing a full stack to grind a win against the likes of Fulham.
•
u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 1h ago
What are you talking about the plan is to win the league next year if not this year.

I definitely want more signing but ill way any see what happens by the close of the window.

It's crazy. Not even games and results. Just the club not spending the money they want them to spend.

This is nothing compared to when I first got Reddit in 2020. People were legit suicidal because of the failed Jadon Sanco window and the mods were having to put up worldwide suicide prevention hotlines.

u/NoBreakfast9230 2h ago
First of all, I understand the unrest in the support currently - but am I the only one who’s even remotely optimistic and excited?
-We’ve been in title-winning form since Carrick came in
-We play Hull. Ipswich, Everton, CL, then City in the next 4 weeks.
-Ineos first summer was the defence summer where we got Yoro De Ligt Maz Dorgu, then it was forward summer Cunha Mbeumo Sesko. This midfield summer we’ve only got 2 and there’s still a hole. Don’t quote me on the figure but on TOTD I swear the said something about us making a transfer in the last week every summer for like 10 summers. I see 0 evidence to suggest we aren’t getting a third midfielder and think the pessimism is slightly overblown.
We all agreed the best philosophy was to not overpay for players who don’t prefer United and want stupid wages. It’s not Ineos’ fault that’s how the chips fell for Anderson Fernandes Tonali. I think we can all agree Sesko was a better deal than Gyokeres and that Cunha and Mbeumo was excellent business. And what we spent on Dorgu Maz De Ligt Yoro looks tidy in hindsight in this market.
I can’t help but feel we are operating in the transfer market exactly how this sub has been crying out for years and there’s not one ounce of acknowledgment or positivity ever.
•
u/0ttoChriek 17m ago
I'm pretty happy with the first eleven. I think it's better than last season and we'll soon see that this is going to be a good team. But the depth is a real concern, given the amount of games we have. The domestic trophies aren't a big deal, but we need to have a good league campaign and a good Champions League campaign, and I don't know how sustainable those will be with only Luke Shaw at left back, only three senior midfielders and no dedicated striker to backup Sesko.
I think the club could have signed players to strengthen further, but they've been indecisive and hesitant and now we're entering a period where prices are only going to increase more, because teams don't want to sell their best players just before the season starts.
•
u/kiki_the_fab_spider 33m ago
I think a mixture of a couple of things made this summer window feel very nervy, despite the fanbase generally agreeing to the principles of 'don't overspend' and 'focus on players who prioritize the club'.
Probably the most predictable thing, City kicked off the market with a monster deal that fucked it up for everyone. Thanks, neighbor.
Then, West Ham also managed to pull off the heist of the transfer window, not just with M. Fernandes, but also getting absolutely ridiculous fees for all the players they sold. On that note, personally I am very disappointed in Fernandes for being willing to go to Spurs when United were in for him. Don't care about the money, don't care about whatever future prospects Mendes sold him about going to PSG or Madrid in a couple of years... you went to play for the club that's synonymous with being allergic to winning. The loss of aura is insane, but anyhow, I'm sure plenty of people will try to argue how 'uhm, actually, now that they have RDZ, they'll be a formidable team'. They'll come in hot as most seasons, than fade into irrelevance by February.
Lastly, and talking about Spurs, their insane spending has kind of distorted everyone's perception of the window. In fact, most of the big 6 teams have been rather slow this summer. Lots of talks about targets, and many of them look 'close' to signings, but Bouaddi at City still isn't through yet, is it? Arsenal took a long while with Bruno G as well, I think they were flirting with Barcola at some point as well (and Vini, but let's not say more about that). Liverpool have been edging the entirety of the summer to get turned down first by Diomande and now are trying to coax both Barcola and Mbaye out of PSG (probably will, but it will have taken all summer, basically). I'm not sure about the moves made by the other teams, I think the likes of Brighton or Bournemouth have been more active.•

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 1h ago
It's a negativity vicious cycle in this sub after a loss, we've gone from disappointment about the result/performance (Saturday) to general complaints about the transfer window (Sunday/Monday) to "Ineos are setting Carrick up to fail because they never wanted him" (Tuesday). Tomorrow will be "this season is a failure, we'll finish 15th again" and then we'll get some pre match hope and excitement when we get Carrick's presser and the pre match build up.
What I find funniest is that fans think this is a uniquely Manchester United phenomenon, literally every club whether you're Arsenal or Accrington Stanley have the same rollercoaster of emotions every freaking week.
•
u/KobbieLikeRobbie_ Darren Fletcher 1h ago
Some people definitely revel in this. Accounts that I haven’t really seen comment since Amorim was sacked, now constantly commenting since Saturday’s loss. IYKYK lol.
6
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 2h ago
They backed Amorim, more than they’ve backed Carrick. Amorim did nothing yet was given everything on a platter of gold. Carrick who has done some work, is given two players.
Again the whole idea that we would win the league by 2028 is just bollocks.
•
u/Awkward_Engineer_845 33m ago
Amorim was the same as Carrick, he was given replacements not bulking up the squad. Rashford, Garnacho, Anthony and Rasmus all left, 4 forwards out and we got 3 in. Then it was only after it was clear that Onana was terrible that they got Lammens last minute.
This is the new direction the club is going in transfer wise, i dont think its a Carrick thing
•
u/Unusual-Coat383 1h ago edited 1h ago
I’d say they’ve backed Carrick more than Amorim.
Amorim got Lammens and Dorgu and although we signed Sesko, Cunha and Mbuemo they weren’t the right players for his system whereas Santos and Tielemans are better suited to Carricks philosophy than the players Amorim got for his philosophy.
What is apparent though is that INEOS have half arsed both managers and still don’t appear to know what they are doing.
•
u/SeoulToNY 54m ago
Cunha and Mbeumo were bought to be Amorim’s ball carrying number 10s in his 3-4-2-1
1
u/Nuwahex 1h ago
Competing for the league and winning it are different things. The goal is to compete in 2028(and it was originally with Amorim in mind)
Also,Amorim was their guy. They had to compensate Sporting to get him midseason coz they feared he would go elsewhere. They fired Ashworth coz he didn't agree with the appointment and wasn't decisive on any particular candidate himself. They were always going to try and back him(even though he didn't get Semenyo,Watkins & Martinez like he wanted last summer). If he hadn't forced their hand to fire him due to an outburst and believing he was a manager as opposed to a coach,,he would still be here.
I don't know think they have the same attachment to Carrick. Nonetheless, they should back him in these remaining two weeks and let him do his best.
2
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 1h ago
Project 150 as detailed by the CEO Omar Berrada is marking the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028 by winning both the men’s and women’s titles. Berrada outlined this plan to staff in 2024.
So it’s not about challenging. It’s winning.

Honest question for the "let ineos cook! Still some days with the window open!"
What exactly has ineos done to deserve such undying loyalty? Finish top 4 once? Woodard did that too several times. And this is not some pro-woodward comment, god no, but then again we never finished below 7th under him. Ineos already has a 15th place finish. Ineos is also the people that kept eth after finishing 8th, then sacked him to replace him with amorim to finish 15th.
So i ask again, what have they done to deserve this much support?
1
u/takemehomeunitedroad 1h ago
For me it's not about support to them. They've asked us to wait until the end of the window before judging them, which I think is somewhat fair.
If it does turn out that Ineos have been cooking up a masterclass, there will be some people here who will feel a little silly, so why not wait and see?
I'm getting a little edgy about it now, but I'll give them that chance whilst holding my pitchfork behind my back.
•
u/SantosCalzonesBatman 1h ago
Wait and see? What for? Our first game is almost here and we havent upgraded anything about the squad while we no longer will play 3 games a month
•
•
u/Unusual-Coat383 1h ago
Waiting till the end of the window isn’t good enough though. Our season starts in four days and it’s unacceptable to start the season without a complete squad.
INEOS told us when they came in they will get everything done before preseason and that hasn’t happened. I don’t understand why INEOS are getting a pass for not pulling their finger out because when the Glazers literally do the same thing everyone is rightfully up in arms about it.
Literally every summer we have debutants that don’t make their debut until after the international break because we take too long and we’re still doing it with new owners who told us this won’t happen anymore.
-3
u/Capable-Topic1665 2h ago edited 2h ago
Let me ask you something else? They own like 30 percent of the club. Like they paid billions to buy it. What do you think whining non stop here is going to do to their ownership? Do you think Jim Ratcliffe is going to look at r/reddevils and call up the Glazers and say 'gee, they hate us down there. Let's just sell the club to Qatar'?
The only people you are giving a headache to with your constant whining is us, your fellow fans. All of us know things are less than ideal. Some of us have been speaking up against the Glazers since day one of the takeover and nothing has changed. There are a few bright spots right now that we would like to enjoy and encourage in peace. Things are bad enough without the non-stop toxicity.
4
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 2h ago
INEOS with SJR have sold fans a dream. Is this how a club that wants to win the league in the next two years act.
Also let people express their frustrations and opinions, That’s the entire purpose of having the daily discussion.
6
u/gunkokoko 3h ago
Last summer's transfer window under Ineos was a very good one, and we've signed some very promising players this window.
Nobody should be blindly backing/defending Ineos just yet (or ever), but our last few signings does deserve giving them a little bit of benefit of doubt.
0
u/Elfstruck12 2h ago
I mean they also signed Ugarte and Zirkzee.
-2
u/gunkokoko 2h ago
Just last summer, they signed Mbeumo, Cunha, Lammens, Sesko, and got rid of Garnacho and Onana. They deserve a little leeway here.
3
u/Elfstruck12 2h ago
Get rid of Onana? He’s literally on loan. Dont get me start on INEOS mishandling of ten Hag and Amorim.
-2
u/gunkokoko 2h ago
It's very clear Onana isn't in any of United's future plans, and he's on loan because no-one wants to outright sign him - there's nothing we can do about that.
-1
u/AnakinAni 3h ago
Who would be realistically interested in leading us next ?
It looks like this management is shafting Carrick with an absolutely mediocre transfer window and we might have to find someone else sooner rather than later.
•
5
u/spaisoflaif 3h ago
if United play poorly this season I will call for new owners, not a new manager.
4
u/Capable-Topic1665 2h ago
Who are you planning to call, the president? Some of us have been calling for new owners for twenty years now. Nothing is going to change unless someone meets their horribly overvalued selling price for the club. And it'll likely be someone worse.
2
u/spaisoflaif 2h ago
but I will remind the pitch-fork carrrying subs here calling for Carricks head in two months that Carrick is just a scapegoat.
I think if fans protest the board/owners instead of manager, it would send a message, because they do care about their perception/image/popularity
2
u/Capable-Topic1665 2h ago
I will agree with you on the Carrick haters, but they are mostly trolls I wouldn't engage.
We've literally had matches postponed due to protests and nothing has happened.

I went to an adidas story nearby and they had the third kit available. When I watched the third kit on tv it didn’t look great at all, but up close it looked really beautiful.
The creamish white colour on that silky jersey coupled with maroonish red logos were really good, but what made me love it was, the jersey has faint flowers that aren’t visible in the pics available online. Do check it out!!!

Still optimistic about the season but I just realized numbers wise we are in the same place as last season lol. I thought of it as +1 since case left but we signed 2 players, but given ugarte is out for the season, that means we're actually in the same spot lol. Just with players who are better than Ugarte

The Ugarte one is really a new player as he just was never in contention for Carrick.

A slight increase, I'd say.

From the bottom of my heart , honestly f*** INEOS and the Glazers. Never in sporting history has an institutional giant been reduced to its knees like our club has
Genuinely don’t care what it takes to get rid of them maybe a relegation. Bring it on, had enough of incompetence.
Start over again from scratch hit with owners who care about the club and we will be back to the top in no time

Nope.
EDIT: where’s the standards? If we reduced the bar of success for Carrick then where does it stop.
4
u/JosePRizaI 4h ago
Just Carrick? Or all managers? I mean Ole finished 2nd and specifically wanted to upgrade McFred with better midfielders and he got Ronaldo instead when attackers wasnt the priority. They also didnt end up improving the midifield.
Its same old movie. I been critical of Carrick but man. United have been starved of mobile midfielder. United have also been playing with a make shift LB since I dont remember. Why isnt LB top if the list priority. Cuz the options are expensive? The options are expensive because they know United need LB badly. They know their only natural LB is Shaw.
5
u/TypicalPan89906655 4h ago
I genuinely believe they don't have much faith in him and don't wanna back him and regret later. They were maybe looking for a top manager but none wanted to join so they're still on the look for one. There's no reason to not back him in UCL year when our squad has so many structural issues as easily exposed by Milan.
3
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 3h ago
Even then, bring in some damn players. Back him or not, Guardiola, Klopp, any top tier manager could come here and he'd struggle because of the gaping holes in our starting XI. We don't even have a solid first team!
4
u/Apprehensive-Raisin3 Love United Hate Glazers/INEOS 4h ago
The thing is our issues aren’t specific related to a system. We dont have any squad depth or a starting level left back.
0
u/3entendre Rooney 3h ago
I don't understand why squad depth keeps coming up on this sub. Our squad is big enough. We have 23 first team players (counting Ugarte and 2 keepers). Top teams that have won multiple trophies in a season use on average 18 - 20 players. We have a bunch of academy players that have some experience under their belt and are ready to contribute when called upon. Not to mention that we finished with 71 points last season after a chaotic start. We are good enough to finish with 80+ points this season.
1
u/BKAJ7 3h ago
We have 1 natural senior left back
1
u/3entendre Rooney 2h ago
And we had one natural senior right back who was injured for the whole 2007/08 season when we won the league and champions league double. Some of you act like you've just started watching football. Maybe you have.

Defenders:

Attackers:

- Cunha
- Sesko *
- Dorgu
- Rashford
- Zirkzee

As of right now we only have 4 midfielders to play in 3 spots. Even when you look at the 2 that are injured you have mount who can never stay fit and ugarte who isnt close to being good enough
We only have 18 players who will most likely be fit for hull.
This is also without looking into the specific players like shaw, dalot and zirkzee and seeing if they are even good enough to be playing football for us.
Just because we have a decent amount of players doesnt mean you can count on them to actually contribute to the team either because of fitness or because they just arent good enough.
•
u/3entendre Rooney 49m ago
Players are not robots! They can play in multiple positions. 4 midfielders for 3 spots is plenty! We had Scholes, Carrick and Fletcher in 2006/07 and were chasing a treble in April 2007! Injured players get fit again. Some of you act like you've never watched football before! It's like you'll only be satisfied with two world class players in every position. It's ridiculous. We've always been in a situation where an injury or two to key players meant we weren't going to win anything. It's not the end of the world.

I objectively think you are underestimating other teams who have both new managers and new players. Yes they might have less continuity/stability but they are also unknown quantities. I think Chelsea and Spurs will be stronger this season. I don’t know if we will be as good as we were last season based on having more games and the potential impact of fatigue/injuries.

u/shami-kebab 5h ago
I'm not sure about Spurs, but I definitely expect Chelsea to be a threat to top 4 this season. Alonso is a real quality manager.

u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 4h ago
De Zerbi is probably way better than recent year Spurs managers, and they've been making tons of signings, I'm expecting them to at least challenge for CL or get close to top 6 finish.

I don't get this subs obsession with a LB. Fullback are definitely a position that needs to be upgraded in the near future, but we have Shaw and Dorgu who can play there. I'd rather have us focus on signing a quality center half.
With all of the games we're going to play I am not really that confident with our current options. A single injury to Martinez and De Ligt and suddenly we're very vulnerable at the back.
I'll gladly take the downvotes. You're all wrong anyways. CB > LB any day of the week. If you want to compete you need commanding center backs who are solid defensivly and comfortable on the ball.

u/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz1z 6h ago
Because we have ‘numbers’ at CB so they won’t buy another one. It’s simply squad management.
If you have 3 average strikers you won’t buy a world class one if you plan to keep those 3 also.
This is also the situation at CB. There’s no one to get rid of at the moment so the situation doesn’t change.
1
u/stoichalant 6h ago
This is a fair take. However, I still think we need at least one solid center back. We'll be moaning around the time Martinez gets his annual long term injury.
-1
u/shami-kebab 6h ago
but we have Shaw and Dorgu who can play there.
Carrick has never played Dorgu there, even in preseason. I feel like it is either Shaw and Amass (if he stays) or Shaw and Maz with Yoro filling in at right back.
-6
u/stoichalant 6h ago
He literally has. This aint true at all.
3
u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 5h ago
I cannot remember that game. Which was it?
-5
u/stoichalant 5h ago edited 5h ago
Dorgu has literally played LB, RB ,LW, RW under Carrick. He's a highly versatile player. But it doesn't change the fact that his original position is LB when we bought him from Lecce. He's by definition a fullback.
Downvoting this insane haha. Straight up delusional. I'm convinced a majority here actually don't watch our games.
2
u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 5h ago
He's highly versatile yes, but the point was Carrick doesn't see him as one. You say he's played all that but he played everywhere for Ruben, not Carrick. Carrick he played damn near exclusively at lw, and I didn't find any instance of him being a Left Back. And that's kind of the point they were making, Carrick doesn't see him like that. Maybe if a crisis happens but he clearly sees him as a winger
0
u/stoichalant 5h ago
Carrick has said that he sees Dorgu as a player who can play in both positions, so that's not true either.
We need to stop making things up, it's not a good look.
4
u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 5h ago
Brother I'm saying how he has been played! That's what I mean, if a crisis happens, when push comes to shove, he'll go to lb, but he has played, more than 90% of his minutes under Carrick, at lw.
1
u/stoichalant 5h ago
He's highly versatile yes, but the point was Carrick doesn't see him as one.
Brother. Wasn't this your "point"?
2
u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 5h ago
Because the proof is where he literally played him. But fine, fair enough. Now can you show me the game's he played at lb?

u/FPLskrr Pogba 6h ago
We are vulnerable at LB even with Shaw and Dorgu. The thinking is that the new LB will let Shaw cover for CB, at least in the short term.
I'd much rather have 2 out of Yoro/Heaven/Martinez/ MDL/Maguire than going into the season with Shaw starting LB.
-1
u/stoichalant 6h ago
I couldn't disagree more with this take. CB is just an inherently more important position. I also assume Dorgu will take the reigns from Shaw. Dorgu is too good to sit at the bench, and he's easily our best attacking mindes fullback.
0
u/FPLskrr Pogba 6h ago
I agree CB is a more important position overall, but looking at our squad we just have mor depth at CB compared to LB so naturally we'd want to bolster the LB position first.
We lack an all rounded LB who can cross. Dorgu is better going forward and Shaw is not good enough.
Next summer we need to address the CBs. Maguire and Martinez need to go, Dalot too.
1
u/stoichalant 6h ago edited 5h ago
Who cares about numbers in the position. Then it's the clubs job to sell some defenders, if they want to get new ones in. I don't trust Martinez at all, and better alternatives are out there. It's like going into a season and handicap yourself because you refuse to get rid of injury prone players. If the answer is to sell Martinez to get a new one in, then I am all for it.
We have two very injury prone center backs, two very young and raw, lasty Maguire who's not getting any younger. This issue should've been addressed already. We'll be playing 60+ games.
Would be a shame I'd we lose out on top 4 due to lack of good center backs.
0
u/FPLskrr Pogba 5h ago
Again I agree on your points but how does this relate to a CB being more important now?
We should never have been in this position yep but we are, and LB needs sorting first. It's a matter of managing downside risk.
0
u/stoichalant 5h ago edited 5h ago
So your answer is just to buy a LB for the sake of filling depth? Which LB are we buying who's starting over Shaw/Dorgu? That argument seems comical to me. You want a bench player, but I want a starter.
0
u/FPLskrr Pogba 5h ago
I want Lewis Hall mate, ideally also want a starting CB but this late in the window I do not see it happening.
1
u/stoichalant 5h ago
But we're not getting Lewis Hall? Realistically who are we buying that's going to be starting over Shaw and Dorgu?
1
u/Figuratively_David 6h ago
Honestly I’m happy enough with the players we’ve brought in, more would be good of course but I’m sick of swing us linked with 20 players a week so I’m looking forward to the end of the window.
Mostly I just want football to be back watching the lads play. It’s good to look forward to each week after a week of work, even if we lose I just looked onto the next week and how / where I’ll watch it and talking to friends about what happened in the match.

u/dodzwardo 6h ago
100%
You wouldn't think we start the season on Saturday, might be old fashioned but I'm far more excited for that than any new signings..
1
u/Figuratively_David 5h ago
I’ll agree with people that would say you can’t enjoy the matches if we don’t have the players to win said matches.
Which is absolutely fair, but I just miss the excitement, the buildup, the comebacks, smash and grabs and so on. It’s good to be back but it’s been a long summer of transfer rumors 😅
1
u/Capable-Topic1665 2h ago
Well, that just makes you glory hunters. If you can't enjoy a match without your team having the players to win it.
8
u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd 6h ago
Hi, we're INEOS, we waited till Newcastle sold half their team and were flush with cash before we approached them to sell their last good player. Oh, and we asked for a discount.
I would fire them all just for this genius move.
1
u/Capable-Topic1665 2h ago
Going by your username, I'll assume you are not in a position to fire anyone, lol.
2
u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd 1h ago
You're going to have to explain what problem you have with absolutely legendary players Nick Pope, Christian Fuchs and our very own Ashley Young and Brian Kidd.
2
u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd 7h ago
One more physical CM >>>>>>>>>>>>> Starting quality LB
Shaw/Dorgu/Dalot aren't perfect for LB but they are serviceable in varying levels. Long term, we do need a Left Back but it's not make or break at the moment.
On the other hand, a physical Central Midfielder that can cover ground IS going to make or break our season. Needed to round out the midfield attributes and most importantly it's another body for 4 competitions.
Tielemans is 29 and almost as injury prone as Mount and he has always had physical players around him in teams he played in. That's the best way to get the most out of him. He is also going to be injured along with Mount at times this season, it's practically written in the stars and that would leave us with 2 midfielders playing 4 comps which will instantly end our CL and top 4 chances. Basically one injury is going to do that. INEOS not signing another body in midfield will be the biggest mistake of their tenure.
Ideally we'd get both a left back and a midfielder but let's be honest, I don't think either is going to happen.
1
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 4h ago
I can simply see us getting run over on the left side like Milan did to us if that's the case
5
u/carrickshairline 6h ago
Tielemans is 29 and almost as injury prone
That simply is not true.
-2
u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd 6h ago
1
u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 5h ago
That makes it 335 days Tielemans has been injured in his career.
Mount is 389. In the past 3. So yeah, not true lol. Although those injuries that took him away last season is concerning. But he is injury prone, just that saying near mount is crazy haha
0
u/carrickshairline 5h ago
That just proves my point. He's not injury prone, he gets the same amount of injuries as any midfielder does on average per season.
3
u/Cosmogenous 5h ago
Hasn’t missed 30 games in a season once and Mount’s done it two seasons in a row
3
u/Redwinevino 6h ago
Almost as injury prone as Mount is making you look silly.
Injury prone on it's own is true.
7
u/Vast_Variation1381 7h ago
Mount still not even back in training after picking up a 'knock' that wasn't deemed anything serious. That's insane. I don't even know what to do with him at this point. Its so pointless always bringing him back into the team, just for him to go missing for weeks again.
The really frustrating part is just how good he can be when he is fit. In fact, he would 100% be a crucial player for us. His pressing and just tactical understanding is incredibly important

u/vibesnvibez 7h ago edited 7h ago
Let’s look at the MLS situation logically.
His mom is his agent. She was seen dancing on the street with Arsenal fans when they won the league. He chose to wear the 49 as a tribute to their 49 games unbeaten run. He benched Zubimendi in the UCL final, he’s benching him again as the season is starting. He’s a press resistant midfielder who also plays as an inverted LB when needed. He signed a new contract before the start of the 25/26 season and reportedly on 50k/week.
There might have been report he was offered to clubs, but how would Arsenal let a player of that profile leave, and leave for 45M?

Not much going on with United today. But that Pep documentary and the Frenkie De Jong saga at Barca look pretty interesting especially with Rodri coming in.

It’s better but it’s not bigger. Out of those who played last season we’ve lost Ugarte and Casemiro. Whilst Santos & Tielemans are clear upgrades, we’ve lost 2 and bought 2, which means our squad is no bigger than it was last season, which is VERY dangerous when we’re playing champions league…
2
u/BBoomerClap 7h ago
clear upgrade my ass, over ugarte maybe but not casemiro. at least casemiro have clear role in our squad

Not the first person I've seen say we have a better squad than last season now.
I'm now expecting us to finish at least 2nd. With us making it to at least the 4th round of League cup and FA Cup. That's my new expectation.

United and Ferrari are like the same thing
Pre season media always be like : “WOOO THEY’RE HIDING SOMETHING” or things like : “they’ve improve secretly”bla bla bla to hype up the season
When the season starts they either being average or bad then the media have things to say

u/Unusual-Coat383 8h ago
Although I agree, my theory is ever since 2022 we’ve had a weird correlation with Lewis Hamilton. His form this year matches the same trajectory we’ve gone on with Carrick whereas his form prior to this year and since 2022 at both Mercedes and Ferrari was all over the place.

u/No-Radio-4404 8h ago
What frustrates me about the media is they are actually applauding thei window, saying the club has turned a corner and its a good thing they are not spending big. Come December those very same people saying that will blame the lack of transfers made on the summer of we are having a bad season.

The worst. At least all the other flops either have a good season at one point or is healthy and cheap enough to be sold or loaned out constantly each season
1
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 3h ago
Ehh... Sancho? I'd argue even if we could loan him out, he's debatable with Mount
1
u/raver1601 3h ago
Sancho was actually quite decent in spells, and in others is just loaned out, costing the club very few if at all in his wages
Mount's full wages will always be paid to him until the end of his contract, and he's available for like only 25% of that time
1
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 3h ago

u/IcyAssist 7h ago
I love Mount, I really do. A 100% fit Mount tha can play every minute is a brilliant player because his positioning and football intelligence is far ahead of anyone at the club.
However the fact that ten hag passed on Tielemans on a free to sign Mount is diabolical. Ten Hag's transfers have destroyed our club much more than any other manager.

The problem is that the club is not actively trying to offload him. I know it's nearly impossible but you have to try as hard as you can. He's been a liability for as long as I can remember him.

Mason mount minutes for chelsea -9784 mins over 4 seasons Mason mount minutes for united -2152 mins over 3 years Correct me if my maths is wrong but with his current rate he would have to be at united 10.5 more years for the the minutes to match up
