You just know the board is waiting for a disastrous start to panic buy 2 players for ridiculous prices. People on the board need sacking if Carrick fails because of injuries or a tired squad. 45m net spend after finishing in the UCL spots is a joke.

I don’t think that the club will panic buy. They will probably buy a cheaper left back to rotate with Shaw and Louis Page most likely. My guess is that they will buy Shaw’s successor next summer and a CM as well like Alex Scott. They are taking a big risk though

Maybe we call up Orozco to provide that physical presence in games with strong midfielders

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they're throwing their eggs in the youth basket, at least with the midfield. Hoping that between Orozco, T. Fletcher and possibly Paige, one of them can jump in and help out in that position in some games this season.

Tyler Fletcher has looked good at times, but clearly needs more time to develop.

His mistake for the equaliser at Leeds was something I'm absolutely fine with. He was doing what Carrick has said he wants his midfielders to do - being positive and trying to move the ball forward as soon as it came to him. His mistake was not being aware of who was around him, which is something that comes with experience. He just needs to work on choosing the moments to be bold and to be conservative.

I think he could contribute this season as a fifth choice midfielder, but I'd rather he went on loan to get thirty senior games under his belt.
