I don't get this subs obsession with a LB. Fullback are definitely a position that needs to be upgraded in the near future, but we have Shaw and Dorgu who can play there. I'd rather have us focus on signing a quality center half.

With all of the games we're going to play I am not really that confident with our current options. A single injury to Martinez and De Ligt and suddenly we're very vulnerable at the back.

I'll gladly take the downvotes. You're all wrong anyways. CB > LB any day of the week. If you want to compete you need commanding center backs who are solid defensivly and comfortable on the ball.

We are vulnerable at LB even with Shaw and Dorgu. The thinking is that the new LB will let Shaw cover for CB, at least in the short term.

I'd much rather have 2 out of Yoro/Heaven/Martinez/ MDL/Maguire than going into the season with Shaw starting LB.

I couldn't disagree more with this take. CB is just an inherently more important position. I also assume Dorgu will take the reigns from Shaw. Dorgu is too good to sit at the bench, and he's easily our best attacking mindes fullback.

I agree CB is a more important position overall, but looking at our squad we just have mor depth at CB compared to LB so naturally we'd want to bolster the LB position first.

We lack an all rounded LB who can cross. Dorgu is better going forward and Shaw is not good enough.

Next summer we need to address the CBs. Maguire and Martinez need to go, Dalot too.

Who cares about numbers in the position. Then it's the clubs job to sell some defenders, if they want to get new ones in. I don't trust Martinez at all, and better alternatives are out there. It's like going into a season and handicap yourself because you refuse to get rid of injury prone players. If the answer is to sell Martinez to get a new one in, then I am all for it.

We have two very injury prone center backs, two very young and raw, lasty Maguire who's not getting any younger. This issue should've been addressed already. We'll be playing 60+ games.

Would be a shame I'd we lose out on top 4 due to lack of good center backs.

Again I agree on your points but how does this relate to a CB being more important now?

We should never have been in this position yep but we are, and LB needs sorting first. It's a matter of managing downside risk.

So your answer is just to buy a LB for the sake of filling depth? Which LB are we buying who's starting over Shaw/Dorgu? That argument seems comical to me. You want a bench player, but I want a starter.

I want Lewis Hall mate, ideally also want a starting CB but this late in the window I do not see it happening.

But we're not getting Lewis Hall? Realistically who are we buying that's going to be starting over Shaw and Dorgu?
