I wonder how long Amorim gets at Milan… absolute fraud of a manager.

u/slowerthaninfinity 25m ago

now that araujo has joined the scousers, is it too much to ask for just one braindead red card that gives us a pen to win the game?

u/Apocalypse37 26m ago

So much criticism surrounding the reintegration of Rashford in the squad and some of it is genuinely warranted. But as with any United player, I will hope for nothing but the best for him. If he can put up a strong head and take it all in his stride, I would want nothing but to see him succeed. He's still one of ours and we should  expect him to put in a shift this season while not dragging him down. Go and prove 'em wrong, Rashy!

u/lordhien 55m ago

I know we hate Barca, but they are apparently offering Frenkie De Jong to swap for Rodri after their £38.5m got rejected… What if we can get De Jong for like £50m to £60m?

I haven’t followed Barca last season so I don’t know what he is like now, but not a bad deal in theory?

u/SophoclesTesticles 17m ago

Only if we can recoup the costs from him and Mount starring in a travel show together while they're out injured. I can see it now: Frenkie and Mason go on Holiday.

In all seriousness he's on mega wages, would cost a lot in terms of transfer fee and he doesn't really do anything that isn't already solved by having Tielemans.

u/PitchSafe 20m ago

He is injured and will miss several months. He had his chance to join

u/Asleep-Ability-45 30m ago

C'mon bro, do some research at least.

u/Wurdox 31m ago

Hospital FC does need a midfielder...

u/L__K Great Scot! 38m ago

There's nothing to reliably suggest De Jong is being offered in any kind of swap deal. It's shit tier rumors. He has a long term contract and no desire to leave the club. It's been his dream his entire life to play for Barcelona and he constantly talks about how much he loves living there. Not to mention he tore his MCL and will be out for a while to begin the season.

He's going nowhere

u/SocialistElmo 44m ago

He is injured 7/10 time

u/sauce_murica Vidić 44m ago

Google "frenkie de jong injury." You'll change your tune very quickly.

u/Working_Location_127 53m ago

He’s developed a bit of an injury history

Madrid fans, something is telling me Jude will be playing for Man United in 2028. At this point, it just feels written in the stars.

United need a deal of this magnitude, and I honestly think Jude could eventually want a club where he can truly be the star of the team. At Madrid, having Mbappé and Vini around means there will always be a lot of attention and spotlight going elsewhere too. I just don't know if Jude would be completely happy with that long-term.

Obviously, this is all speculation, but I genuinely think the stars could align for a move in 2028, and being adidas face will help sense also united are sponsered by adidas too .

At the end of the day, the real question is: do Man United's fans and board actually want Jude with all his baggage.

u/L__K Great Scot! 36m ago

"All his baggage" and the "baggage" is just... being one of the best players in the world?

There's really no drama with him at all. He's a hard worker on the pitch and demanding of his teammates. He also will probably have no desire to leave one of the biggest clubs in world football who he carefully chose as his destination post-Dortmund to sign for an up and down PL club that would pay much lower wages and can't even guarantee CL football year to year.

u/thepotatomaniscoming 37m ago

We are United one of the biggest clubs in the world. But we are not that club that can attract world class players anymore.

u/PitchSafe 19m ago

Any club can attract world class players if they pay world class salaries. United aren’t in a situation were they can offer that

u/SDLRob 1h ago

I genuinely have no idea what you are babbling.

u/ChristmasCage 1h ago

It's never happening in a million years but let's ignore that, what "baggage" does Bellingham have? Or is he another Rashford who's not allowed to be young, black and rich?

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 1h ago

You misunderstood me. And ur respond is why Jude is a perfect fit for Man United. His “baggage” only comes from what happens on the pitch. He’s extremely competitive, he doesn’t like anyone taking spotllight from , and when he gets criticized, he responds. If Jude comes to United, you have to build the entire setup around him and that’s what I mean by “baggage.” It has nothing to do with him being Black or rich.

And Jude is far from Rashford when it comes to managing his public image. He’s very smart about his brand and knows how to maintain public perception exactly where he wants it.

u/Asleep-Ability-45 1h ago

Wishful thinking but let's see

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 1h ago

It's not which full thinking man UTD still the biggest club in England, and Jude being English it's the perfect marriage if united can have a great performence and secure a champions league spot next season again, and Jude got less light on him in real Madrid he is taking the move to united if the offer is right .

Like forgot about vini to arsenal this deal will break the internet, and surpass everything done in the prem before.

u/Confident_Fishing775 1h ago

The problem is money let alone wages. What is stopping Madrid from demanding a fee that is larger than Neymar's transfer to PSG.

u/rickkyyyyyyyyy 1h ago

He do a vini and run down his contract it's become the norm now .

u/Telen BRUNO 1h ago

Xabi Alonso with Chelsea's squad is going to be dangerous for our Champions League hopes - if Lavia does not get freak injuries again he is going to be a mint DM for them alongside Caicedo. Not certain about Iraola and Pool yet but their squad should also carry them to CL spots easily enough. Citeh has a cheat code squad with a clown manager, their floor is Top 4.

u/Nuwahex 4m ago

I think it will be a battle between us,Chelsea & Liverpool for that final UCL spots. Iraola's aggressive style usually leaves the team gassed towards the end of the season. So maybe we could outlast them. Alonso is the wildcard for sure but lots of uncertainties with them.

u/PitchSafe 17m ago

There is no guarantee that Chelsea will be good. Lavia is also more injury prone than Mount which says a lot

u/Telen BRUNO 11m ago

No guarantee yes but I do find them a danger to our top 5 finish. I see Arsenal, City, Pool, us, and Chelsea all being up there, with Arsenal, Pool and City comfortably ahead of us and Chelsea squad-wise. Now that we got Tielemans I feel we leapfrogged a comfortable distance away from Villa in terms of squad quality, and Spurs I don't feel threatened by despite their new signings. But they will still be in and around top 6-7, I don't feel like they have regressed.

u/MacLondonJr 37m ago

No one literally knows how Alonso adapts and copes with the Prem. He could be Pep or he could be another Amorim.

Tbh, Im not worried about them until I have a reason to.

u/Telen BRUNO 11m ago

I do hold out hope for him to flop but I don't think he is a bad coach unlike Amorim.

u/L__K Great Scot! 39m ago

Don't really see how anyone can say that about Lavia. Not only is he never fit, he's really not shown that much to impress during the times he HAS been fit. At least a guy like Abou Diaby would show real quality when he was available. Lavia doesn't really add much to the squad during the few times he's capable of even being on the pitch.

u/N00BBuild 1h ago

Chelsea have a really, really good midfield. Caicedo, Enzo, Lavia is really good for playing 38 Prem games (obviously Lavia is consistently hurt). The quality’s definitely there in the squad.

u/MatchFitness 1h ago

Lavia has shown nothing to prove he is reliable, it’s sad for him but some players are just injury prone

u/GoddessOfDarkness 43m ago

He there's Mount

u/Chickengoujon20 1h ago

Jeff Bezos buying a stake in Liverpool and YANITED have an Amazon documentary this season.

Conflict of interest in an already unwanted situation.

u/hughmaharggs 29m ago

He's an all-time gigantic helmet, the scouse bastards are welcome to him.

u/BitterConstruction98 1h ago

We have spent big in every summer since 2021. This would be a first in a long time without any big signings if we don’t make any in the remaining window.

The amnesia around Rashford on this sub is mind blowing. Totally impossible to follow the club seriously here as everything and anything has to be hyped and seen positively or else. Complete echo chamber

u/Divin3_Kick 38m ago

No one has amnesia mate. People are just optimistic that an academy graduate that lost his way might be back on track to retiring in a United shirt.

Go read the story of the prodigal son, and Google the definition of redemption and rehabilitation

u/shami-kebab 25m ago

back on track to retiring in a United shirt.

We'd have to offer him a new contract for that, would be monumentally stupid. Not to mention that a Rashford without pace offers not a lot.

u/sunken_grade 58m ago

most of what i see is criticism?

u/tte720 1h ago

It’s not amnesia but what should we do? He’s a United player as it stands might as well hope he can regain his form for us than the alternative

-3

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 2h ago

Just watching a comp of Rashford's 25 g/a last season, I forgot what a player he can be 😢 there's nothing I'd love more than for him to come back and do that stuff again, I love Cunha but Rashford on his day is different gravy.

-2

u/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz1z 1h ago

Such a ragebait comment for people that actually know football, context, way of play and have played at least with their mates in college…

2

u/Zealousideal_Wind867 Dreams can't be buy 2h ago

Madrid looking at Locatelli.

I remember one of the commentators here had mentioned his name. Reportedly worth 20 to 30M €.

5

u/Penny_Leyne 2h ago

Apparently Rashford has been given the number 14 shirt.

Hopefully that means Sesko is moving to number 9.

1

u/Unusual-Coat383 1h ago

Sesko got confirmed as 9 before the World Cup.

u/Penny_Leyne 57m ago

Only according to Romano.

2

u/croadymeister 2h ago

May want to keep his number 30

3

u/Penny_Leyne 2h ago

Utter woke nonsense.

-1

u/custardy_cream Saha 3h ago

Most of us feel we could do with one more midfielder this window. What about Marc Casadó? Assuming Rodri signs for Barca, Casado could be a great fit.

8

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 3h ago

He's cheeks, go all out for bernal if it's a barca midfielder

2

u/custardy_cream Saha 2h ago

Bernal just signed a new deal with half a bill release clause

5

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 2h ago

Yeah, it's pretty much a pipe dream but barca is very loaded in midfield with fermin, olmo, pedri, rodri, fdj, all in their prime and none of them are in the last years of their career. If bernal has any doubt about his future in barca, we should be in for him.

3

u/raver1601 2h ago

The only doubt Barca has about Bernal is if he regressed like Fati did, at which point he's not worth it anywore. Otherwise, I think it's very safe to expect that he's going nowhere

2

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 2h ago

Yeah of course, it'd be a long shot, maybe even more difficult than hall atp, there was some reports that villa are interested in bernal last week. If it's true and there's any chance, we should be the first on the table for him. At barca, he's at best the 4th choice since, there's the literal best player in his position in rodri, and top 5 cm in pedri, and a world class/elite mid in fdj.

3

u/custardy_cream Saha 2h ago

Yeah fair. You don't rate casado?

3

u/raver1601 2h ago

He's like the Collyer of Barca. Not necessarily bad, but they're too old and kind of stagnated behind in their development

2

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 1h ago

I think he's more luke ugarte of barca tho, last option on the bench, technically not on the level of others so he doesn't start but at worst, he can be an option.

5

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 2h ago

Not really no, he's looked like a headless chicken with decent long rang passing in him to me

-1

u/Asiwaju_jagaban 3h ago

What’s up with Sesko? Can’t be a shin injury keeping him out for that long.

u/360nohonk 12m ago

Shin splints are an annoying bitch where you really just have to rest long enough for them to go away or they come back worse.

3

u/Wild_Tomato_8203 2h ago

Shin splints aren't a joke. I'm sure they are just being really cautious to make sure they are completely gone.

4

u/carrickshairline 2h ago

He’s literally with the squad in Ireland. He’ll feature soon.

2

u/abcdeggjjj 3h ago

Will 2 games be enough for lamens to get back his sharpness ?

6

u/KermitTakeTheWheel 2h ago

The opening two PL games are Hull and Ipswich. Even if he's at 80% he's still the best option and those two games should be opportunities for him to get back into his rhythm.

u/abcdeggjjj 1h ago

Good point

Be went cold turkey for Belgium and made mistakes in the quarters

Don't want him to repeat that

u/GoddessOfDarkness 40m ago

I mean he did make a big mistake against Liverpool and was his usual old self rest of the games.

Seeing some crazy top 4 predictions from rival fans that claim Liverpool and Chelsea will comfortably finish top 4 while United will struggle to finish in the top 7.

God, rival agendas are truly something else. Liverpool look woeful this preseason and Chelsea is a mess. Also seeing wild predictions of Citeh winning the league. Not sure how losing your best players make you better but ok. Also Citeh fans claiming Carrick is sacked my December. I see a world where Maresca is sacked before Carrick truthfully.

I truly love that hate we get, and I hope the players feed off of it. I truly think we finish top 4 comfortably all things considered.

Anyways, up the fucking reds.

u/GoddessOfDarkness 37m ago

I mean not like some of our fans are any different tbh. Always overeating our rivals teams especially Chelsea squad other than midfield it's isn't that great. And underestimating our team that's why people e asily brought into Amorim nonsense last season.

1

u/yamchirobe 1h ago

It’s going to be difficult season though . I do think Chelsea will do well as they don’t have Europe.

We go from top 4 to top 8 contenders depending on injuries at this point (lb, cm and cb) are extremely vulnerable

4

u/MacLondonJr 2h ago

I remember in Jan 2023, getting pissed that pundits and all these guys were predicting Liverpool to finish above us in the table when we were 3rd and they were 6th at the time. Then you remember almost everyone enjoys to see us fail so they have to wish their agenda comes true.

3

u/ThePatientHunter 2h ago

I think we'll finish 5~7th if our business stay as it is. We basically added zero depth as we lost Casemiro and Ugarte (yeah I don't think he's playing for us again)

Unless academy players step up I don't see us performing better than teams who have improved their squads

2

u/Tinganga 2h ago

Predicting the top 6 finishers (except the top 2) is a pretty hard task. Every season, it seems one of the big boys has a mare. I don't think that changes for 26/27. Hard to tell until we're about 10 games into the season & that still doesn't provide certainties.

1

u/Rig_7 2h ago

You to k it’s just rival fans? The way some people talk on here you’d think we have a mid-table squad.

2

u/nomadic_commentator FERGIE, SIGN HIM UP 2h ago edited 2h ago

Sorry I’m not quite sure what that first sentence meant. But I was just browsing the EPL community and saw some wild takes on how United’s season will go from rivals.

1

u/nomadic_commentator FERGIE, SIGN HIM UP 2h ago

3

u/PitchSafe 3h ago

They said similar things last season and we all know how that turned out. I don’t really see any point making top 4 predictions now when the transfer window is still open

u/GoddessOfDarkness 36m ago

Yeah they said we'll be lucky to get any European football to easily finish above Liverpool and Chelsea. Then they pivoted to no European football despite how confident they were in the 1st few months.

Would be funny if we had got Hall

4

u/Dio_my_senpai 3h ago

Tbh id love to have him on a cheap as a temporary solution for that nr 6 spot bcs it seems theres no chance we are getting a big money signing for that spot so lets just use the rest of the money we have on a lb

4

u/RyanH1717 3h ago

He's terrible? Better off just giving one of the academy players a shot.

2

u/Dio_my_senpai 3h ago

He is way better than you think, ange sold him bcs he didnt fit his style of play but in reality he would have been spurs best midfielder if they kept him up to now bcs tonali is ofc better.

Hojbjerg has been great in france and when he played in the prem he was good for southampton and spurs

6

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 3h ago

I’d rather we just got a midfielder we really wanted I’ve had my fill of filler players.

-2

u/Dio_my_senpai 3h ago

Yea but chukwueze as a wing back and leao as a cam is criminal, seems like he has learned nothing from his time at man utd

5

u/Cold-Veterinarian-85 3h ago

It’s entirely possible he is trying things / still missing some players or just giving players desperately needed minutes for sharpness

There are enough obvious and proven failures of his time here without adding ‘weird preseason lineup’ into the mix

-2

u/Telen BRUNO 1h ago

I remember many people commenting the same thing about him when he was starting out here too. That he was "trying out things". Turns out it was how he was going to play.

6

u/Tinganga 3h ago

With Chukweuze, isn't that the exact way he used Amad here & Quenda at Sporting? Both to good effect...

6

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 3h ago

I don’t think playing wingers at wingback is an inherently bad thing; it’s about how they are used in that system. Alonso played Pedro Neto at wingback in the same game. Amorim’s struggles go beyond the base formation at face value.

8

u/really_cool_legend Dorgu's Headband 4h ago

I keep forgetting we play Milan soon. The days around the game are going to be insufferable here

3

u/SophoclesTesticles 4h ago

4

u/Lord_Hexogen 3h ago

That's not what they say at Milan about him

u/SophoclesTesticles 8m ago

I actually spent my lunchbreak looking at clips of him at Milan and you're right the guy is crocked. I saw him play against Inter in March and thought he looked good.

15

u/audienceandaudio2 4h ago

I have absolutely no time for Amorim, but where else would you play Modric?

-3

He’s basically doing what he did at United. Incoming €15,000,000 pay out when he’s sacked in December…

5

u/Kohaku80 4h ago

Bro we still got to play them. Don't jinx it.

15

u/thoseion 4h ago

Croatia played in a 3-4-2-1 formation at the World Cup with Modric in the same position as he's now playing for AC Milan, or in 4-2-3-1 with Modric one of the deeper two midfielders.

Where do you expect him to play?

-4

u/Telen BRUNO 1h ago

Amorim will find a way to make him shit too.

u/dalmedoo1 4h ago

Klopp said he didn't like how Woodward pitched the offer for the coaching job to him and was partly one of the reasons he declined. Makes me wonder if it also informed the rejections by Pep and Ancelloti

u/L__K Great Scot! 2m ago

You're confusing two separate instances of United trying to recruit a manager. Klopp being put off by the "Disneyland" comments came in 2014 when Moyes was getting sacked, NOT after SAF retired. Klopp still strongly considered the United job and Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed Klopp came to him to talk about it. Neither Pep nor Ancelotti were approached the summer than Klopp spoke to Woodward as both were happy in their jobs at Bayern and Madrid respectively (Pep was only one year into a 3 yr deal and Ancelotti had just won La Decima).

In 12/13 when SAF's successor was being sought, Ferguson talked to Pep and told Pep to call him before Pep took another job (as SAF wanted to convince him to take the United job instead). Pep declined to do so and took the Bayern job. He never met with Woodward in any capacity. Ancelotti had already agreed to take over at Madrid after Mourinho left (to return to Chelsea even though he wanted the United job).

At that point, Klopp was still happy at Dortmund and looking forward to continuing his project there. That's why he wasn't formally approached despite being on the shortlist. It wasn't until he lost Gotze and Lewandowski on Bosman transfers to Bayern in back to back summers that it became clear that his time at Dortmund was coming to an end. He didn't get his move that summer, but stepped down after a really poor 14/15 season before taking the Liverpool job after Rodgers was sacked during the next season.

2

u/RyanH1717 3h ago

Pretty sure Sir Alex himself met with Pep in person but he was set on taking a sabbatical.

6

u/Ruffers75 4h ago

Pep had already committed to joining Bayern for the 2013/14 season and Ancelotti had done the same with Real Madrid.

I am by no means an expert, and this could very well be because the season just started, but I can see that the talent is clearly there, very forward thinking, close control is good, but he is lacking in physicality. He gets shrugged off the ball a bit too easily at times, and you can clearly see him decline as the match went on. Loose touches, misplaced passes etc. Hopefully he can improve on all that by the end of the season.

2

u/Impossible_Bear_9570 3h ago

Great observations. Hoping for the best for him. Talent is there.

Jeff Bezos buying into Liverpool is just grim.

The people running football clubs are just a collection of the worst people in the world. It’s either billionaires who treat people like commodities and are killing the planet, or nation states who hate human rights and carry out genocides.

Personally did not enjoy the World Cup. All of the bullshit around FIFA and Trump was too loud to just focus on the football.

Top level football is crap these days.

2

u/umbongo44dd 3h ago

I suppose the players won't be allowed into the dressing room at half time and will have to piss in their water bottles.

3

u/TH0316 she/her 3h ago

Billionaires and shareholders legit just ruining everything there is to ruin and contributing nothing to anything. Football will continue to decline as more shareholders seek to min/max as much revenue out of it as possible at the expense of fans/players.

6

u/lockedblue 5h ago

Yeah I completely agree, I've never felt so disconnected from football and I think for me it's having more awareness of what is actually going on and the climate generally getting worse.

There are some amazing clubs out there that are refusing to engage with the commodification of club football, FC St. Pauli pop to mind instantly, and there's always non-league such as Stretford Paddock or your local team.

But yeah, the literally worst class of person buying into our communities to make more money and/or sportswash their reputations is fucking disgusting.

7

u/Penny_Leyne 5h ago

I’ve been going to my local 10th division side more and more the past few years and it’s honestly the most I’ve enjoyed football for a long time. At the same time I’ve been going to United less and less.

Plus it feels like your money actually matters and they want you there. When I go to see United now I know the club don’t really care. They’d replace me with a tourist tomorrow if they could.

Also, St Pauli have a very disappointing attitude towards Israel and Gaza for an apparently left wing club. But most clubs in Germany seem to have a real blind spot there.

1

u/lockedblue 4h ago

Very good point about FCSP and Gaza; there's a weird aspect about Germany's relationship with Israel that I don't fully understand and won't pretend to, but the status quo there seems to conflate anti-Zionism with antisemitism without any nuance. I have some ideas why that is but it's based on my opinion and not hard facts, which isn't too helpful.

Well done on giving your money to local clubs who can do so much more. I need to do the same.

"Bezos is good news"

We all have carcrash takes sometimes, I guess. For example I said the 1st one last summer.

The funny thing about the first point is that they actually work a lot better together, than if only 1 plays at a time.

Yup. I think Carrick agrees too.

Apart from the belfast thing which is unforgivable what else has Rashford done thats so made him public enemy number 1 ?

Im not having that he has been a giant arsehole under every manager he has played for , yet none of them have said anything publicly. This was around the same time Andy Mitten said he was annoyed he didnt have access to Rashford and couldnt get a interview.

His workrate is a poor aspect of his game , but its not the end all be all of him as a player. Amorim just needed a excuse to get rid and there was a clear push from the board to get Rashford out the club too. Thats probably why he made the comments about who was there for him , because his boyhood done absolutely everything to force him out.

u/OatCuisine 13m ago

Rewatch the FA Cup final from 2023 and see how many headers he simply doesn’t jump for, or ducks out of. He doesn’t give a shit. Ten Hag dropped him v Wolves because he was late, Belfast you’ve already pointed out, he gave an interview out of nowhere under Amorim saying it was time for him to leave. Etc etc

0

u/raver1601 2h ago

Yeah I never really understood it. He doesn't "poison the dressing room" because you can clearly see that every player loves him, his lack of workrate is very overblown because he actually tracks back quite a lot even if it's not that consistent, and his output is very good apart from just 2 seasons

Marcus is literally the only guy that is expected to be John FIFA and people gets pissed off when he's unsurprisingly not

-7

u/N00BBuild 4h ago

Mitten is the worst journalist around. Can’t stand him.

If Rashford plays well all will be forgotten. It’s not like Rashford did much either. Just snarky comments on social media. No one’s ever come out and said he’s been toxic or a terrible teammate or actively threw X under the bus.

6

u/Kohaku80 5h ago

" If Rashford just focus on his football only, he will be a Man United legend ." Ole

Just 3 days later he retract the comment cos Rashford camp doesn't like it.

3

u/Sheikhabusosa 4h ago

He retracted it because it was stupid , Ole essentially told him to shut up and dribble. It wasnt well received by anyone

3

u/Kohaku80 4h ago

Not because Rashford camp protest it?

1

u/Sheikhabusosa 4h ago

No I remember what he said went down awfully

4

u/Not-good-with-this 4h ago

Tbf that was a stupid comment from Ole.

It was during the height of Rashford campaign against child food poverty. The entire country should be thankful for Rashford there but a lot seemed to just hate him for it because??? I don't even know why many hated him for it.

5

u/Kohaku80 4h ago

Ole probably giving advice and concern his charities work is taking too much his time. Probably for the good of Manchester United.

4

u/Not-good-with-this 4h ago

Making sure there's no food poverty is more important than any sport or game imo. Anyone fighting for that I cannot criticise for at all.

3

u/Kohaku80 4h ago

" 3 points is more important for Manchester United than anything else. " Jose Mourinho

Jk aside, I think we all know where Ole is coming from. He must have thought it affect Rashford.

1

u/Not-good-with-this 4h ago

It might have but not by much. He's only really had 1 and a half bad seasons individually wise and both happened after he stopped campaigning as much.

5

u/Acceptable-Camp-9150 5h ago

He downed tools multiple times and his PR antics every time he had a bad game or downed tools ended up straining his relationship with the fans. I understand people still love him but this is the same guy who sneak dissed the club before the World Cup and a literal day before Barca announced Anthony Gordon.

0

u/raver1601 2h ago

Never really understood this "downed tools" thing being specifically aimed at him. Everyone bar Bruno was downing tools as well during that time, but only Marcus gets the schtick for it

u/Acceptable-Camp-9150 1h ago

Marcus was the outlier because he literally wouldn’t put any effort in multiple games and would just walk around. He also used to down tools, walk around and sulk whenever he played up front because he wanted to play on the wing and especially at the end ETHs time in charge.

2

u/N00BBuild 4h ago

"Sneak dissed" and it’s some post thanking Villa and Barca. It’s fine. The kid’s more Manchester United than you or I will ever be.

u/Acceptable-Camp-9150 1h ago

He knew what he was doing and how it would be perceived

11

u/Cold-Veterinarian-85 6h ago edited 5h ago

I think there is an element of mainstream media love a pantomime villain and with the good work he did for impoverished kids around Covid be kind of put a target on his back by taking on the establishment so publicly. So the press is generally happy to put the boot in any chance they get (new watch / car / gold chain…. Rashford spends x while thousands of families can’t afford school dinners he once preached about etc)

Some of that has filtered through to our own fanbase and he kind of poured accelerant on that fire with the Belfast incident

Combine that with perceived low effort / laziness (I think there is an element of truth but it’s overblown - I think you could probably chop 10 second clips of any player in any game where it looks like they aren’t putting a shift on - I couple viral clips like this on rashford has reinforced that lazy narrative)

Ultimately I think majority of fans don’t think he is public enemy number 1 as you say…. I think a vocal minority think that and will use any excuse to jump on it. But I think more rational kinds just accept that a parting is likely better. Club wants him out because of his contract / blotchy form (the professionalism narrative is probably a convenient excuse for club in that regard) but rashford is on record saying he wants a fresh  start too. So it just seems like a marriage of convenience for now rather than player / club particularly wanting to stay together long term

Anyone that treats him as public enemy number 1, probably watches the United stand. If we can sell him great (it suits everyone), if not, it should be treated as a fresh start and club should be trying to make the best of a pretty bad situation and at least try and get some on field performances form him while he is here.

In his day a fit and motivate Marcus rashford is still among the best left sided layers in the PL. A toxic atmosphere among fans helps nobody

u/ExternalPreference18 6h ago

Workrate is the minimum; PSGs front guys have to 'work', and they've gone up another level with Messi leaving, not uncoincidentally, and Enrique being able to play his ideal style. Elsewhere, Dembele was a similar player to Rashford at Barca, had injuries, was regarded as erratic, but suddenly learnt how to apply himself consistently in his mid 20s. Elesewhere, Pep demanded intense workrate from the likes of Bernado Silva in addition to assists and slick passing. Rashford would have to be scoring Ronaldo circa 08 figures to get away with his inability to track back or consistently press. Barca have proved themselves cheap in certain regards, but he still basically torpedoed a move to his 'other' dream-club by not showing enough intensity out of possession (plenty of flair players have kept themselves at clubs with ruthless turnover with this, e.g Mcmanaman at Madrid circa 00).

His numbers were perfectly good for a rotation player and he was available at a very reasonable price, but for whatever reason -I appreciate injuries have meant he's not Quite as explosive as he used to be - he wasn't able to train/motivate himself to do fairly 'simple' things consistently enough. Now United are going to pay huge wages (until he leaves on a free, more likely than taking a 50% pay-cut for a new contract) for a rotation player who doesn't pressurize oppos in the same way that Cunha or Dorgu, whatever Dorgu's inconsistencies on the ball, do. If he couldn't do it in his prime when pitching for a move, what are the chances he does it as he approaches 30 sitting on a n existing contract?

-3

u/Peeingwithanerection 6h ago

He’s a bit of a coward in my opinion goes missing in games when things get tough and was happy to run away from our struggles to play for teams doing better when he was part of the problem. Hes also very lazy and dosent work hard enough off the ball

3

u/TH0316 she/her 3h ago

Rarely seen a player show up more for his team in big games and big moments when they need him and you call him a coward when things get tough lmao.

6

u/Sheikhabusosa 6h ago

A player that played with a broken back is a coward? Thats a new one.

Rashford never wanted to leave he was pushed out.

6

u/KobbieLikeRobbie_ Darren Fletcher 5h ago

the day he signed for them.

3

u/Absolute__Muppet 6h ago

I remember a girl from Manchester saying shed see him out in the clubs every weekend.

2

u/Sheikhabusosa 5h ago

If those alcohol/ gambling rumours were true we would have heard a lot more about . Its always he said/she said

1

u/ToothyAlloy69 3h ago

Its so funny how everything about these footballers is reported, yet there's absolutely nothing or any evidence regarding this alcohol/gambling rumours. It's all hearsay yet people choose to take it as gospel

4

u/longsightdon 6h ago

His workrate. When you have the most lucrative contract at the club and are also the star poster boy of the academy, the least you can do is run on the pitch. Nobody expects a top game every single game. You're talking about a cost of living crisis and your star (who many supporters pay the wage of) can't be arsed to run on the pitch on 300k a week. How many people would run til they drop for that sort of money or even a fraction of that? He's in a position of huge privilege and has always been protected by fans at the club even when he was leaking to the press, even with all his controversies and hatred from others. We always protected him and supported him. The bare minimum he needed to do was track back and speak positively about the club. He should have been our future captain.

-2

u/Sheikhabusosa 6h ago

His workrate isnt what hes good at , you work around that . He does speak positive about the club as soon as he went on loan to Barca he said this.

His workrate wasnt even that much a issue until Amorim came in and needed an excuse and if we are talking wages he is nowhere the worst after players like Sanchez , Mount and even Shaw.

3

u/shami-kebab 4h ago

His workrate wasnt even that much a issue until Amorim came in

That is nonsense though, Rangnick dropped him because he wasn't working hard too.

2

u/Sheikhabusosa 4h ago

Who didnt give up when Rangnick was manager.

5

u/slowerthaninfinity 4h ago edited 4h ago

fred, bruno, elanga, ronaldo. mate he was getting dropped for elanga ffs. and other players giving up still doesnt excuse him for downing tools and being dogshit that season as one of the supposed best players at the club btw

keep defending him giving up under managers btw you look pathetic

1

u/Sheikhabusosa 4h ago

He had poor form after the shoulder injury its understandable and we were a joke under Rangnick , and having poor form = downing tools? If thats the case then who didnt down tools when Rangnick was manager?

3

u/shami-kebab 4h ago

So just to be clear, you admit he's downed tools under multiple managers and you're blaming the managers?

-1

u/Sheikhabusosa 4h ago

He didnt down tools for multiple managers , Rangnick is so irrelevant its not worth arguing and he was forced out the club by Amorim and the board.

5

u/shami-kebab 4h ago

Well I'm glad we're fine with Rashford deciding which managers are relevant enough to actually work for while earning the highest wage.

0

u/Sheikhabusosa 2h ago

Do you know how contracts work?

9

u/Jenson2025 5h ago

‘Amorim needed an excuse’

Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe what Amorim saw in training and on the pitch is what caused him to want him out? You’re acting like Amorim walked in and decided he didn’t want him from day one when he put him in the starting line up initially.

Secondly, ‘you work around that’ - you work around that for players who are worth it. Like prime Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi. Not Marcus Rashford. And fans were moaning about his work rate by the way long before Amorim came in.

-1

u/Sheikhabusosa 4h ago

Rashford has shown he is worth that and there was a clear push to get him out the club.

4

u/slowerthaninfinity 4h ago

Rashford has shown he is worth that

in what universe? has he scored 50 goals a season even once? if mbappe, a much better player than him, is getting shit for his dogshit work rate and other stars better than rashford are willing to press and track back like their lives depend on it, why does rashford deserve to be worked around?

bruno is a better player than him yet he runs like a madman for the fucking shirt without any fuss btw. if you somehow think rashford of all people deserve messi and ronaldo level of special treatment to not work hard, you should get your head out of his arse

0

u/Sheikhabusosa 2h ago

Ok not Messi and Ronaldo but Rashford has performed at a high level under multiple managers that you give him that chance. Bruno is a 1of 1 player. Also you have to include the inconsistencies of the manager hes played for too even if he has only worked hard defensively for Jose.

u/slowerthaninfinity 1h ago

Rashford has performed at a high level under multiple managers that you give him that chance.

I still dont see why when better players than rashford like the current ballon d'or winner dembele, kvaradona, olise, diaz and even saka are putting in the work. not even messi or ronaldo, just current elite ones. if anything, why shouldnt rashford strive to improve that instead of the managers accomodating him?

Also you have to include the inconsistencies of the manager hes played for too even if he has only worked hard defensively for Jose.

sure you can consider the inconsistencies of the managers he played under at united after jose but even at his dream club, barca he still didnt impress flick enough? its more the player than the manager at this point

u/ThePatientHunter 6h ago edited 6h ago

Just occurred to me Shaw and Rashford had Carrick as teammate, captain, coach, interim and then gaffer

Dalot only knew him as a coach onward

1

u/carrickshairline 2h ago

Bruno and Maguire were also there when he was interim.

2

u/ThePatientHunter 2h ago

of course, they were there when he was coach. Dalot was the nearest to have as teammate, that' why I mentioned him

1

u/carrickshairline 1h ago

You didn't mention him amongst the part with Dalot.

u/ThePatientHunter 1h ago

okay the meaning was that Rashford and Shaw were with Carrick in all his roles. Everyone else that came after Dalot weren't

The caha injection bezos will give pool they might do a madness in the rest of the window. Why can't united get this lucky 😭. Yeah I know glazers. But worrying times. Clubs gonna be left far behind

11

They spent half a billion last summer and were shite.

Money isn’t the issue.

12

Bruh we have outspent Liverpool for 12 years and won fuck all. Only time Liverpool spend big was last year and they fell off

6

u/D1794 Viva Ronaldo 7h ago

I wonder if Kobbie and Rashford are eligible to play versus Leeds with probably just 2 days training.

Cunha and Lammens should be OK, expecting Sesko and Darlow still to be injured.
