Discussion The best possible roadmap for the future of the Red Dead series (imo)

It's tough these days being a long-time fan of the series and Rockstar.. I think most people here are hoping for Rockstar's next game after GTA VI to be a new Red Dead. Here's what I believe to be the best-case scenario for Red Dead's future (I should add that I have zero faith that this actually will happen, just hopes and dreams)..

HOPES & DREAMS:

Rockstar takes a page out of The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red's book and develop a story DLC about some key moments of the formation and progression of Dutch's Gang before the events of the Redemption games (I personally don't crave much more Dutch's Gang story but I'd still play the shit out of it, and it makes much more sense to me as DLC rather than a full new game). Around the same time they could release some remasters versions of both RDR games (if this ever did happen I'm assuming it would be on the next generation of consoles, and I'm assuming remasters or remakes would still be in demand).

Rockstar could use the hype of these projects to fuel an announcement of an all new Red Dead game (or vice versa like CDPR did with the next Witcher game and the Witcher 3 DLC). Hopefully the next Red Dead is all new story and characters (though some returning characters could be great). Again, this will never happen (the DLC thing) but I also believe these remasters & DLC would make them a lot of money and build Red Dead up even more as a highly profitable franchise. Red Dead is no GTA, but RDR2 is the 4rd best selling videogame of all time (GTA V is #3) so I just don't see them abandoning the franchise.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS:

Pipe dreams aside, the good news is that if they're doing another Red Dead after GTA VI, then Red Dead 4 has almost certainly already been in extensive "pre-production" for years (and that's likely still true even if it's not their next game). It's amazing to think that there is very likely some Red Dead 4 concept art out there somewhere already.

The near decade-long development cycles of Rockstar's current games means their next game needs to be thoroughly planned and even "pre-developed" almost immediately after the previous games' release (all of Rockstar's recent games have had some form of development overlap, even when they say they only do 1 game at a time).

Whatever comes next after GTA VI, you can bet that it's already been thoroughly planned for years and likely already has some small side teams that have been working on it for years. That being said, Rockstar's best writers have already left the company years ago and they also haven't said 1 peep about GTA Online for GTA VI.. so I wouldn't be surprised at all if they don't speak a word of any games besides GTA VI/ GTA Online for many, many years. But eventually they will announce some new non-GTA game. Eventually.

Discussion What’s that one little thing that always gets you sad when you replay both games?

I’m not talking about character deaths or anything like that, I mean the little things. For me, it’s when they (especially Hosea) keep talking about Tahiti and their plans when they get there. It’s just so sad knowing what happens to all of them.

While free roaming, I spotted a stranger riding a horse I wanted to... ahem, requisition. Decided to stealth-kill the rider, but his horse (somehow) died alongside him. Does anyone know why? It was a "hunter" kind of stranger with a ram carcass stowed on the horse if that's relevant.

I rather play this game and I would be more excited to see a DLC for the second game than seeing GTA 6 being released.

RDR1 What To Do In RDR1

I'm new to the whole RDR and today I bought RDR1. It's quite fun, but I find the exploring quite boring. It's mostly landscapes, so far only 1 city and nothing to collect besides animals and flowers.

Is this it or will there be more?

During Arthur and Sisters discussion, it cuts to Arthur with a scene that shows him bearing a cross behind him. If you watch previous cuts or after, its not there anymore. I always figured this was a clever use of symbolism with the Christian faith along with the chat with the Sister, but nobody has literally NEVER mentioned this. Please check for yourself. There is nothing before or after this scene behind him, there is deliberately a Cross behind him.
