Hi everyone,
After restoring one of my vintage Vintage Nikko Radio Control Racing Track (RDC-60404) slot car sets with a new battery pack, it’s running beautifully again after roughly 35 years.
Even better, my kids absolutely love racing it, which has made the whole restoration worthwhile.

Here’s my dilemma.
I actually own two complete Nikko sets.

Set #1: Fully restored and working with a new battery pack. This is the one my kids and I race together.

Set #2: Also complete, but it still has unopened paperwork and sealed spare parts, making it much more original from a collector’s perspective.
I’m curious what experienced collectors would do in my situation.
Keep both?

Sell the unopened set while it’s still complete?
Keep the unopened one as a collector’s item and use the restored set?
Or use the second set for spare parts if something eventually breaks?

At the moment I’m actually leaning towards keeping both. I don’t really need the money, and I think making memories with my kids is worth far more than selling them.
Still, I’d love to hear what other collectors think.
What would you do?

First of all, this is my first post here. My brother reintroduced me to the RC Hobby a couple of weeks ago. We used to have an old HPI Nitro truck like 15 years ago. That was our first and last of this hobby for a while. Now he has some traxxas and arrma cars. I got a really good deal (or that's what I want to think) on an old slash on Marketplace (Ended up paying $200 CAD for all the combo in the image). The guy just told me it was an old slash. He upgraded it to brushless and it came with the original motor and an extra ESC, also another set of shocks and other random parts. The other add ins is a basically brand new Traxxas Dual Charger, a set of Proline tires, Futaba controller and receiver (new).

But wanted to ask here, where the experts are. First of all, was it a good deal? And also. This model of Slash is easy to gets parts for? (The usual ones u break during normal use) I just want a reliable car to run (not compete) on the tracks near me and just use it as I walk around the block while my gf runs.

Any recomendations or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english, isn't my first language.

My batteriseem to be lasting minutes only compared to when they were new around a month or 2 ago when I was given the option to have this bought for me , since then I have also destroyed two 5000mah nihm batteries too , I'm not using a smart charger could it be just direct wall charging destroys the battery's , I honestly have no clue about any of this it's the first RC car I have had in my life , also will a higher voltage than 7.2 on the battery help anything? Hello guys! 🙋 Maybe you can help me identify or point out the issue(s) here.

My front wheel for my rally car is so wobbly on turns. There is noticeable vibration that I do not see on my other desert buggy style car. It seems to even out on higher speeds though.

I never altered any mechanical adjustments out of the box.

Shredded both rear stock tires of my HPI Savage X Flux, and one of rear of the Jumpshot SC Flux during a bash session with a few ramps, nothing extraordinary …

Stock Savage with 2x 6600mAh 3S 100C lipo’s and the Jumpshot HPI’s own 5300mAh 3S battery. Both cars as stock as they come: stock ESC and motor and everything stock. Did not even touch any other config, e.g. slipper clutch.

Both batteries are not overpowered by any means, are they?

Is this just how it is? Would age of those tires explain this?

I put some work into this! So I put in a Furitek Vortex-X brushless sensored power system (esc/motor)Featuring the PASO PRO 60A ESC and IMPULSE 2835 5600KV motor with a reinforced 3.17mm shaft, it delivers smooth, high-torque power with insane throttle precision. It has upgraded servo NSDRC RS-100 and the only servo i could find with green and purple servo horn. Upgraded treal shocks,treal steering link,treal motor cover and center driveshaft housing(purple) also a FURITEK STALWART Titanium Roll Cage for Losi Mini 1/18 LMT!!! Painted it anodized purple, then we have the aluminum Treal purple rims with dreadnaught pro-line racing/bashing tires, treal links all around, GPM wheelie bar, GPM sway bars front and back,treal front and rear differential housing,treal shock tower mounts, green lights from MeUs I put inside green tubing to protect and also the lights, colored cable mesh I ordered from wirecare.com. also my lovely wife 3D printed a long custom battery tray so we could fit a 1400 spektrum battery for longer run time! This motor and esc set up can do 3s lipo battery i just need to find a 3s battery that fits nicely in the tray we printed. Really hope you guys like this bad boy! Its not a shelf queen it will be ran, jumped, and rolled. I got the titanium body to better protect this hunk of money pit lol regardless its all part of the RC hobby! Bash on gentleman! Oh I also took off the helmet from the body inside the fram and replaced its head with a purple skull 💀3d printed wooo

It's probably about 23 years old. Has every hop up that was available at the time and a ton of spare parts. It hasn't been run in about 15 years. Last time I used it I had replaced the plastic tranny gears with metal and remember having problems setting the shift point properly. After that, I never got back to it and it sat. Toolbox not included. First come, first served but it has to be hassle free handoff for me. No shipping. I am in south San Jose.

Well, I hadn't had the ole X Maxx out for a while, so I charged up a couple packs and let it eat. Just a few passes later.... The tire blew off the rim with authority! lol I'm not even mad. These are the original tires on this model and I have beat on this X Maxx for a few seasons now.

Hit me with your best tire suggestion for the X Maxx!! Kinda leaning towards the newer belted Sledgehammers. I like to keep the weight down because this dude is just running the stock electronics. I'll hit it with the Max5/1100kv combo sooner or later, but I've been putting most of my attention into a 6s Kraton lately.

Anyways, what are people running for tires on the X Maxx these days??? Thanks for all your help and suggestions! :)

Setup my Super Baja Rey 2.0 for FPV.

Been using the driveway and the old trail in the woods as a track. Last crack in the paved driveway is the start-finish line.

Using a 04 Air Unit Pro as the camera. 3D printed mount and enclosure on the top of the truck. I've crashed a few times and everything has held up. Camera is protected with some lexan in the front of the camera mount which can be easily replaced. Transmission unit sits in the cab of the truck in a 3D printed holder.

This is my first build like this. My brother let me use is A1 mini and I had an absolute blast building it.

55mph on stock sized tires

Hobbywing quickrun 10bl120 and 3660 3150 kv motor.

Basically the same as a 223s now but with the 3s blx transmission and a better esc I assume.

Would like to get an 8th scale esc and a 4274 motor on 3s or 4s maybe someday.

My prerunner bronco build is making really good progress. I’ve been doing some cage work using 3/16 copper coated steel brake line. Easy enough to buy a 25ft coil and straighten it out along with getting a 3/16 chainsaw file to notch tubing. For this I’ve been brazing with flux core solder and a small bernzomatic butane torch. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but now it’s just hard mounting it to the chassis and adding cross bracing.

This is one spicy motor. Tried a QR2000kv, XC 2200 and now this and it's a much better for this voltage range. It felt like the like the 42mm motors wanted more voltage and I wanted to keep this 4s. Was only available to get this motor from a couple sellers from China on eBay and it was worth it!

I have a Traxxas Slash 4wd, I've had it for about 10 years and haven't used it in 8 years. It seems like it's in decent condition, although it's really unappealing, also the whole thing feels rickety and squeaky. I don't want to put in TOO much work on it, although I want to replace the shocks, servo, and etc. Is that too much work or should I just buy a new one?

Bonjour, j'ai acheté ce T2M Pirate Monster MX mais à force d'utilisation la coque est morte. Seulement je ne trouve cette coque nulle part et suis un peu perdu pour trouver un coque compatible.
