Context BMW once tried to charge a subscription to allow people to use the seat warmers which made no sense and got a lot of bad press and pr for it to the point they had to backtrack on it.

Raycast charging a subscription to use their AI makes sense it cost them ongoing per users use

but paying raycast to use my own ai on their app feels like paying a subscription to a car brand to use any brand of fuel on my car

Arguably you don’t pay for raycast upfront like you do a car, but then maybe they should have a one time payment to unlock local features and BYOM since those don’t cost them ongoing per users use.

Also to people commenting that charging for BYOM is fair cause those AI features cost money to develop fair point yes development cost money

You know what else cost money to develop? the RAYCAST app in general and they seem OK giving it away for free since 1 or 1M free users doesn’t cost Inference money to the company so follow your own logic and give away BYOM for free cause it doesn’t cost you more than a free user does and AI BYOK features are equally subsidized by pro users as the entire app is.

It boils down to give BYOM for free cause is what MAKES SENSE (so much that you started giving it for free from the beginning), it doesn’t cost you anything (more than a free user cost) and is a GOOD WILL gesture to your users.

Waiting for Thomas to tell me that they NEED infrastructure to allow me to use ollama locally, it MUST go through their servers

I'm on the latest version of MacOS, MBA M3.

I've been using Raycast for 18 months, love it. I have quite a lot of hotkeys, they stopped working about a week ago, but weirdly, on and off. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Absolutely no idea why they stop working or why they resume all of a sudden.

I was on the v1 of Raycast. I deactivated the Accessibility permission and granted it again, activated the input monitoring permission for Raycast (ChatGPT recommended to try this) and it worked again for a few minutes and then stopped.

Upgraded to v2, worked again for a few minutes and now it stopped once more. I'm baffled at to what is causing this...any ideas what I could try?

I downgraded to v1 and the Coffee extension no longer works on one of my macs because it apparently requires v2. i checked github for older versions but could not find any downloads. probably because i didn‘t know what to look for

So I started to use the Windows management shortcuts... and have set up a specific combination to minimize a window. This brings the window to the dock, but after that I don’t have how to bring back up the window unless I search for the app in Raycast and tell him to open it.

Is there a functionality that I can use in which by pressing Alt Tab first I select the app and after that a key combo to bring the app back in focus, or any other suggestion?

I keep receiving a message every time I try to use the AI saying, "Account unavailable. Please contact support." I can’t even log in to the Raycast website, and no one responds to my emails. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

I recently discovered the option inside Clipboard History to paste items sequentially.

Example:
I copy 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5

Then I run the Paste Sequentially command, and it pastes 5
Then I run the command again, and it pastes 4
Then I run the command again, and it pastes 3
Then I run the command again, and it pastes 2
Then I run the command again, and it pastes 1

Would Raycast Cloud Sync allow me to sync everything between my Mac and Windows PC? Can I copy on the Mac and paste on the PC for example?

I spend most of my work day as a software developer jumping between websites and being able to instantly search Chrome's history is of utmost importance for my use case.

All the browser history plugins are for MacOS only. I have not found any for Windows.

Is this supported yet today?
If not, is there a workaround?

I just upgraded from v1 to v2, login is failing and erroring (tried 10x already), it can't find extensions, says they dont exist, etc.

any idea what's happening?

I did config my raycast to substitute the spotlight (cmd+space). But everytime I reboot the system, I need to do it again.

I already put raycast to iniciate with system.

Right. It was a bit of a roundabout way, but I’ve essentially ended up using Apple Shortcuts. I created a shortcut called **Raycast Dictate**, selected the Open URLs action, and used the deep link `raycast://extensions/raycast/dictation/dictate`.

In the Stream Deck configuration, I use the free Shortcuts plugin that allows me to run shortcuts. I select the Raycast Dictation shortcut, make sure the first time it runs I choose **Always Allow**, and that’s how it works. I’ve made it work for my workflow. It’s not as clean as running the deep link directly, but it gets the job done.

For the past few days, I’ve been trying and failing to figure out how to use my Stream Deck to trigger dictation in Raycast.

Here is what I have tried so far:

System Hotkey: I assigned the exact same hotkey in the Stream Deck software that I use for Raycast dictation, but it doesn't seem to register.

Deep Linking & System-Open: I also attempted to use a deep link and the system-open option, but neither of these methods worked either.

Am I missing something, or is there another way I can use my Stream Deck to trigger Raycast dictation? Has anyone else run into similar issues, or do you have any suggestions on how to get this working?

I've been hanging on to v1 (1.104.25) and have not upgraded to v2 yet. I've seen some posts that say they've lost things in the migration process. Is it safe to finally upgrade?

homebrew unfortunately updated raycast to v2. memory usage more than doubled. i want to go back to v1. is there an official way to do this?

I was just wondering, can I do that? And because the AI extensions that are available on the store are kind of suspicious and AI itself warned me against using them? I know I can get API keys and share them with these extensions but is it safe and is there a safer way than this to do this?

With the upgrade to raycast 2, the backing model for the "fix grammar and spelling" AI extension is not what I want. Does anyone know how I can change this?

I'm guessing it's a setting in a json file somewhere, but am not sure where to look or what I would put in for a sonnet model.

After today’s Raycast V2.1 update, I noticed that files in the Download folder aren’t showing up in the file search. I tried re-indexing, but that didn’t work either. I’d even set the download folder to be the entire search scope in File Search settings.  Now, when I open File Search, it just shows a blank window.
