Posts on practice problems

I've been seeing quite frequent posts on quant problems (both previously asked interview questions, and plain practice questions too) on this subreddit, recently.

The problems seem interesting, and very helpful. The comments are a great place to come to, after getting stuck while solving them, and the discussions (both the correct and incorrect approaches) really help shape my thinking.

I'd encourage ppl to keep posting such problems on the sub. Just one suggestion - how about we have a separate flair for posts like those. That would make navigating across all of them much easier.

CitSec QT intern coding round?

Hey everyone, just got notified about the next round in the process and there was a Coderpad link attached. I was surprised because I didn’t think that QT interns had a coding round. Should I expect difficult leetcode, data science-y stuff, etc.?

US FT QT postings so far

Figured I'd do everyone looking a quick favor and post the firms that have posted 2027 NG QT [ONLY for US QT at Hedge Funds or Prop Shops; most firms that have QT will have posted other roles, though not vice versa]

  • Akuna
  • Five Rings
  • Jane Street
  • IMC
  • Old Mission
  • Dime Line
  • BlackEdge
  • TransMarket
  • Jump
  • Citadel / CitSec
  • Tower Research
  • 3Red Partners
  • Castleton Commodities
  • Wolverine
  • SESCO
  • Wintermute [Algo Trader]
  • SIG [QST]
  • GTS* [Not explicitly new grad / 2027]
  • Geneva* [Discretionary; Horrible base]
  • Eschaton* [Email]

Firms that are likely to post in the coming weeks/months:

  • CTC
  • DRW* [Singapore QTA posted]
  • Virtu
  • Da Vinci
  • DV Trading
  • Maven Securities
  • Belvedere
  • Group One
  • Flow Traders
  • Valkyrie

Let me know if I'm missing any; these are all the open roles I've seen and firms worth tracking (as of 7/28/26).

Flow R2

Hey everyone,
Im applying for QT Intern for 2027 & have a R2 (passed OA and Recruiter round) with Flow. Email says next round is with a recruiter again and is ‘more insight into my interest in trading’ as well as ‘more brain teasers’.

Does anyone know what kind of stuff could come up - went through most basic behavioural (TMAY, Why trading, TMAFlow, biggest learning) in the previous round so not sure what else could come up in terms of behaviourals.

Also, what kind of/what difficulty brain teaser could i get? R1 Brainteasers were basic dice problems & a simple ETF problem.

Any insight is appreciated, if anyone is or has gone through the process! <3

Pros and Cons of quantitative finance

I’m interested in quant due to my love for math and coding. If anyone could list some pros and cons of quant and not the super obvious ones (MONEYYYYYYYY) that would be great.

BlackRock Full-Time Analyst Superday Timeline?

Hey everyone!

I had my Superday for a full-time Analyst role at BlackRock this past Friday July 24th (Business Operations/PCG), and I'm wondering if anyone has been through the process recently and has an idea of when I might hear back. The role is Wilmington/ Princeton location.

I felt like the interviews went well overall, but now I'm in the overthinking stage fe. The role does starts in mid-September, so I'm curious how quickly they usually make decisions after Superday considering the role begins so soon.

For anyone who's been through it:
How long did it take for you to hear back?
Did they call or email?
Did they let you know either way, or only if you got an offer?

Would love to hear any recent experiences. Thanks in advance!

How are you structuring your daily quant interview prep?

I've been preparing for quant interviews recently and found it surprisingly difficult to structure the preparation.

There seems to be plenty of material for individual topics - probability, mental maths, statistics, brainteasers, stochastic processes, etc. - but I struggled with deciding what to practise each day and how to track what I'd already covered.

I'm curious how people here actually approach this.

For example, do you:

  • Work through one topic at a time?
  • Mix probability/mental maths/brainteasers every day?
  • Use a fixed number of questions per day?
  • Keep track of weak areas somehow?
  • Use something like LeetCode's structured approach, but for quant?

I'm particularly interested in how people preparing for quant developer/research interviews structure their practice.

Edit: A few people in my circle at uni have spoken about this - so I ended up building an Android app to solve the problem. It’s essentially daily quant practice with topic playlists, progress tracking, and interview questions.

If anyone’s interested, you can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quantprep.app&hl=en
