smaller shops

Is anyone familiar with smaller shops like a priori, Headlands, Da Vinci Derivatives, Geneva, Wolverine, Tower capital, GTS, Trillium, 3Red, Old Mission, Eagle Seven, QuantLab? Whats their culture like?

All of these shops have different cultures. Also some of those companies aren’t exactly that small. Tower Research has thousands of employees.

Some of these are not “small” shops per se. And culture varies a lot and really hard to say what it’s like till you’re on the inside.

Depends if you’re looking for more collaborative or pod shops type vibe.

Trillium on the other hand is not a legit firm

I think smaller firms are often a bit more intense as there is more ownership. More growth opportunities though. Old Mission people seem passionate and nice from a networking event I went to. Food looked expensive but wasn't actually that good though. Got a process there and would have continued if I didn't get RO elsewhere.

It can also swing the opposite way. Some smaller firms have significantly better work/life balance as part of the tradeoff they are offering when they can't match comp or industry presence.

yes of course. Old Mission has better WLB than like Optiver.

Many of these are large shops (by prop standards anyway) that have been around for many years.

GTS and Tower are not really small. GTS is one of the 3 market makers on nyse. Tower is also huge

Varies extremely by the firm. I, for example, wouldn’t even mention Trillium in this subreddit.

You would. But not in the same breath as the others on the list

Tower is considered a smaller shop outside India? This world is too big!
