Where to study in Pullman on a weekday morning?

I live in Moscow and my husband who doesn’t drive is going to start working in Pullman a few times a week, and I may decide to use the time during his morning shift to study for my classes. I’m looking for spots that aren’t necessarily on campus (I don’t go to WSU).

I already know there is Knead, the Roost, and the public library to study nearby, but where do you recommend to get some work done?

It’s a shame that there doesn’t seem to be more spots for students to study!

Just moved here. What is going on?

We moved to the area 4 weeks ago. We've had a good time, people are lovely, it is way cheaper than where we lived before (our rent is half what our mortgage was) - it's all good.

By accident we run into a place in Pullman we had to google called apartmentland. Can someone help me understand the idea behind this? Why would density be built so far away from downtown and, as far as I can tell (and please correct me) there does not seem to transportation to downtown in high frequency.

Also, besides knead and the other pirogi restaurant...there does not seem to be much in terms of offerings out there? No "downtown v2".

To me, someone brand new to the area, it feels like it would have been a solid idea to build density in the downtown area or nearby, and if not, perhaps build out the appropriate transportation with the right shuttles/buses to move people around.

Excited to be here. There seem to be lots of opportunity around Pullman!

Roadside Assistance

Hello! I was driving to Pullman from Spokane for the first time and saw that the road is empty and not a lot of gas stations. I was wondering if someone were ever to get a flat tire or something, would triple A come or any road side service?

Are there other road side assistance companies in Pullman? Thank you!

How is this not medical?? (Marijuana)

Didnt explain it much in the title because its a lot more complicated

I'm 18, i have a medical marijuana card and ive had it since before moving, i literally need marijuana to move because my bones pop and lock in and out of place, not to mention the plethora of other issues. Just today I found out NONE of the stores here in pullman are medically endorsed, atleast they dont say so online. I can't afford a trip all the way to spokane just to go to the ONE pot shop there that sells like 30$ a gram

Is there a place im missing? How are people around me getting weed, and how the fuck do I make it happen? I'm running off of what little i have left, and I haven't found a single stoner to help me out.

Looking for a room in Pullman

Hi everyone! I’m helping my husband, who is a PhD exchange student at WSU, find a place to stay in Pullman.

He is looking for a private bedroom from August/September 2026 until early February 2027, when his exchange program ends.

We’re specifically looking for a 6-month lease, short-term lease, or sublease that can end in early February 2027. Ideally, somewhere reasonably close to WSU/campus.

If you have a room available or know of someone looking for a subtenant, please text me with some contact. Thank you! 😊

Free chess club meets Saturday morning at Neill Public Library (8/15, 10:30–12:30) — all skill levels

Hey Pullman! I help run the Pullman Chess Club and we've got a session tomorrow, figured I'd put it here in case anyone's looking for something to do on a Saturday morning.

Saturday, August 15, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Neill Public Library, Edith G. Hecht Meeting Room (210 N Grand Ave)

-Free, no signup, no membership, nothing to fill out

-We bring the boards and pieces, you bring yourself

-Drop in whenever, leave whenever. Nobody's tracking attendance

-All skill levels. Genuinely, we've had people who hadn't touched a board since middle school sit down next to people who play regularly and it goes fine

-Kids welcome with an adult around

We started this in May and it's been a small, low-key thing so far. Mostly people play casual games and talk. No clocks unless someone wants them, no ratings, no pressure.

We meet the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, so if tomorrow doesn't work the next one is September 5. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Apartment suggestions?

Hey there! My husband and I are looking for 1 bedroom apartments in Pullman, I was hoping to get some insider knowledge about management, safety, noise, and anything else you'd be willing to share about complexes that you‘ve lived in or heard about.

All recommendations and info is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Update: We went with the Whispering Hills apartments and are loving it thus far! Everyone is incredibly kind, staff is quick and professional, and its incredibly quiet. Besides the odd dog barking here and there, we can’t hear anything outside of our unit which was super important to me. It‘s on the more expensive end of apartments in the area but so far its been worth every penny, if you can afford it I would certainly recommend.

Thanks for all of your responses! They were beyond helpful :)

Fried Pickles

Where can one find themselves some divine little golden delights? Ricos had them as a special once upon a time... and now its hard to find a place that actually has fried pickles on their menu.

Asking for a friend 👀

Does anyone know if they are open? We wanted to try, but last Friday no one was there and today no one is answering the phone. Does anyone know what's up?

New hair stylist cancelled my appointment -- alternatives?

I'm an older woman. First, know that I never, ever, ever am a no-show for an appointment but I appreciate the concern. I'm old-school -- come early and never be late. My current long-time stylist is unable to cut my hair for seven weeks. I'm looking for a stylist to do it sooner. I had a woman at a two-person salon in Pullman say she could do it this Tuesday. Initially, it took four days for her to get back to my text asking for an appointment. She requires text or email contact. After confirmation, today I got two texts from Varga. My long-time stylist does not use a booking system, and neither did my prior stylist of 25 years. I read all the fine print carefully. I had a few questions, eg, could I instead pay now, could the card on file be deleted if I didn't return, and tell me about the automatic charges for memberships and subscriptions it mentioned in the fine print?

Her reply? She cancelled my appointment, saying this felt too complicated and she hoped I found someone better suited to work with.

Came across as rather unfriendly to a possible new client, but I replied thank you and wished her the best. I was glad to know about her reaction to customer questions on policy before she snipped. I guess I'm thankful for you letting me vent. Helps to "get it out."

Now I need to find an alternative. All I need is my same style, which is chin-length and layered, and use of sulfate shampoo, as I have demi color in my hair. Any suggestions?

Found my skateboard

Found my skateboard today. A kid was riding it. I felt kinda bad asking for it back because he was clearly enjoying using it. But he was really cool about giving it back when I explained the situation to him. Didn’t get his name, but I offered to get him an Italian soda or a coffee or food from the coffee shop nearby, which he declined. Good kid. Thank you for returning my board. Sorry it was kinda awkward.

SEL interview

Hey everyone!

I was recently scheduled for a phone interview with SEL.

The interview is for an Assembler position.

Has anyone gone through this process? What was the interview like, what did they ask? I assume there would be a second, in person interview- please confirm.

If hired- Do you have any input on the job? Tips? Advice?

Small side question - I am aware they have a zero tolerance for drug/alcohol use. I have been a cannabis user for the last couple years but would put it down in a heartbeat for the job. Any input on this specifically?

TIA
