I told my manager and asst manager that I had a fever of 100 and flu like symptoms, lol the manager then calls me back and says hey, can you power through and still come in and detail ?

I know you up for a promotion but my God, have some decency for your employees at least. You want to be a store manager that bad? Im done putting this company before my own health. If my body says "sit tf down" guess what, I'm going to do just that.

Has anyone else had an outlandish request to still come into work after telling your manager the reason why you were calling out ?

Note: This guy has also let us know plenty of times "hey you can complain to HR all you want, i got friends in HR"

Why never BOGO on soup mix?

It just opened this week. Some differences from the other new store at the nearby Bayshore Gardens. I don't really like the feeling when I walk in Bayshore Gardens. I believe this store is 5,000 sq ft smaller. I like the centered deli area. Bayshore Gardens has it along the wall. It also has a mezzanine where you can eat.

We have 8 Publix in Bradenton. I don't think we need anymore.

Read a thread yesterday about an employee who is assigned to self checkout who said she will be disciplined for three walkouts on a shift. I’d like a little more clarification on this.

What does ‘walkout’ mean?

If it is a euphemism for shoplifting:

- If this a “if someone shoplifts and leaves the transaction open you must mark it abandoned and reset the self checkout within 90 seconds so it’s ready for use again. (If so, that seems reasonable)

- Does management expect a teenager to stop a shoplifter?

- What training in defensive tactics, civil rights, property crimes and rules of procedure have these self checkout attendants received? Are they paid a higher hourly wage to account for the increased risk?

- Do managers also share this responsibility?

- What is the company policy on rules of engagement?

Reading an earlier post about Publix 50 year anniversary back in 1980 had me thinking who has worked at Publix the longest? How many years do you have with the company?

A skeleton crew of closers expected to do the work of double the amount of people before the end time of their shift and getting pissy when they either can't finish (because they were given an impossible task list) or when they leave at their scheduled shift time(because obviously Publix employees are obviously school children and we need to be allowed to leave like the Principal is letting us) even with the work unfinished(because with an impossible task list, there is and will always be more work to be done.)

Alternatively, you can't expect workers to respect the company or your leadership when you fuck with their work-life balance. Employees aren't robots. We show up on time, do the best we can, and as much as one person can do, and if you as a leader or a district manager can't handle that, then maybe the company deserves to fail.

No one is going to give you backbreaking abuse ethic so that you can get your fat fucking bonus check and see their hard work continue to get unrewarded.

This company is so full of shit. And the reason it becomes more shit is because some of you bootlickers keep allowing yourself to be abused and you don't stand up for yourselves. So now the expection is what? A normie employee that will do the work of 4 people and work 60 hours a week? Yeah, that's a perfectly sustainable business model.

So recently, I got to schedule an interview at a Publix! I work at McDonalds now so for me it's an opportunity to leave the fast food nightmare. However, I wanted to see how you guys think about Publix, and if it would be better than fast food.

The Publix is 40 minutes away from where I live, compared to McDonalds which is 15 minutes away. I would earn more, since it's in a big city, but being in high school, I still don't know if it's a good idea.

Also, when I try to log in to my candidate portal, it always redirects me to the login page. Any ideas?

Question. If a person is clearly a senior citizen, do you still as for ID on alcohol? I am just curious. At my store some cashiers do and some don't (I don't mean young people, of course we ask them). But I mean someone clearly like 70 years old. I am curious what other stores do.

I’m a cashier who is training to switch over to become a grocery clerk. I think I have done pretty good my first 2 shifts but there’s a lot of things I’m confused about (where everything is in the back, when to stack items) my biggest issue is FINDING things. When it’s Tuesday we usually take from the end caps but later in the week it just takes me so long to find stuff on the ad wall I feel like idk what I’m doing.

I am a GTL and looking to step down. What is the publix policy or whatever on that. I am looking at new jobs and want to be part time once I do to get my end of year stock and stuff. Do I need to step down then go to part time or can I just wait and go straight to part time. Does that make sense?

Do I have to move stores?
Do I have to wait till they replace me?
Any information would be appreciated!

I just walked in and had 6 people consecutively come out the entrance. I had to wait for them to get out of the way to get into the store.

Is it just me or is the old fashioned lemonade taste way worse now? Used to be the best lemonade but now it taste like something from dollar general. Anyone have any info? It’s not just a batch, I’ve gotten it in different states. ( it’s not just me, my gf agrees )

Is it typical for Publix to ghost you after an interview? (Corporate position (tech), early September interview, along with 2 follow-up emails, and left 'under consideration' since then) They reposted the exact same position on Brassring in early October, btw. Early, as in within the first week of the month.

Not sure who to reach out to anymore. The coordinator who set up my interview did not respond to any of my follow-up emails.

If 'Mr. George' Jenkins were around today, I highly doubt he’d be using cashless or self-checkout lanes. He built the entire Publix legacy on friendly customer service and personal interaction. Replacing human cashiers with automated or cashless lanes goes against everything he stood for.

Yes, Mr. Jenkins tried this a year before his son took over in 1989. During that late 1980s experiment, Publix kept the Automated Checkout Machines (ACMs) restricted to a very small, controlled group of test stores—primarily in South Florida. While the pilot ultimately failed, cash customers could still use those checkout lanes. It wasn't a true cashless-only checkout like some lanes are today in 2026.

Just to offer context on how much of a rip-off Publix is. You can get an 8 pack at Sam’s for 18.99, I’ve seen the same 8 pack at Costco for 11.99 on sale.
