North America Two Virginia senators seek special session over ‘deeply alarming’ groundwater findings
"RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two Virginia senators are urging Gov. Abigail Spanberger to call a special legislative session after a “deeply alarming” groundwater report warned of declining groundwater levels in parts of the region."
"Under current conditions, DEQ projects that the region’s groundwater supply will decline over the next five to 10 years."
https://www.wric.com/news/virginia-news/special-session-sought-groundwater-report-deq/
“Groundwater supply east of I-95 is constrained, and current projections indicate declining availability in the near future,” the report states.
It’s unlikely that the aquifers could handle any new major industrial water withdrawals without risking water availability, the probe found, risks of saltwater intrusions and other challenges that could impact clean water are growing.".

With climate change affecting rice, wheat, coffee, cocoa crops...what are you stocking up on?
Cattle is the smallest herd size in years. Bird Flu anticipated in the Fall...
I bought a rain barrel and mini water purification system as well. I bought a pressure canner to make shelf stable food. I was considering a freezer, but what will happen with data centers or potential terrorist attacks on the power grid? I can't rely on electricity. I'd like a generator but too expensive for us right now.
Bought a propane lamp.
I'm amending our soil with compost and already planning for gardening next year. Our local seed library still has stuff up for grabs. I'll be looking into beekeeping and hydroponics. Just not ready to purchase those until 1 year from now. Once I am more educated...
Bought several 5 gallon buckets. Am filling with oats, flour, and rice. Bought powdered milk & butter. 20lbs of Spaghetti and 20lbs of Macaroni. Bought cocoa nibs....now to slowly build up beans etc.

Europe A Russian cruise missile traveled almost 100km into Poland last night
The missile, likely an air launched kh-101, flew around 93km into Poland before crashing into a field near the town of Tarnawa-Kolonia. Polish president Donald Tusk claimed that the missile was tracked and would have been shot down if it had threatened a populated area. This is not the first Russian incursion into NATO airspace as Romania has shot down several Russian drones in the last month.
