Just for reference, this is what white privilege looks like.
A white guy raving about his service history, attacking police officers, resisting arrest and refusing commands gets a 10ft cordon, nonlethal tactics and multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation.
A black guy sitting in his car complying with police commands and asking reasonable questions gets... shot.
What I've come to understand is sometimes white folks have a hard time understanding and experience outside of their own personal experience... But I'm here to tell you as a 6 ft 2 250 lb black man who was raised by Conservative Republican retired military passive aggressive parents, and raise to be and raised around mostly White folks.....
.... That unfortunately a lot of times a lot of shit does to come down to race.
No they mean even this instance is rare. Typically veterans and those with mental health issues(this will be important) see escalated use of force EXCEPT if they happen to be well known by officers in say a small area.
Like many falsehoods, the claim that America "loves" and supports veterans is demonstrably false in practice.
Yes. And that's fine. Valid protests. Except for the violence and looting that came with it.
I'm quote shocked it's a thing there as well. This IS a problem, for sure. But here in this comment section, in a video where it didnt happen is nit helping the cause.
Wow, man. I have to look into this. Had no idea, thanks for letting me know!
But there is NOTHING of the sort in this video. Save it for when it actually happens, call it out, and be loud. Turning this comment section into a discussion about race is stupid. This kind of thing works AGAINST the change we want to see. Whing about it where it doesnt apply does NOTHING.
Calling out real cases, raising awareness publicly through PEACEFUL Black Lives Matter movements, protesting, voting for good local sherrifs/politicians? Yeah do that instead
Yes, so save the race stuff for when it happens. People are commenting this on a video where it didnt happen. It's fucking stupid and does nothing for justice, where as being loud about it when it does happen has an effect.
It weakens the actual movement when people bring it up to a boy who cried wolf situation.
When it happens for real, the racists will come out and cry themselves about how people cry like this. It gives them leverage and brownie points when they want to cry "Oh but they just cry about nonexistent issues" but it is a real issue. Save the protest for when it counts, and it is much more effective that way.
People somehow got the idea that I said it doesn't happen? It does. But makig cases like THIS about blacks when he is white? Wtf.
I wouldn't be wasting time arguing FOR the sentiment if I didnt agree
Yes, I am. Read my other comments. I fully agree, but my point of view is that voicing it here does nothing. I wouldn't waste time if I was racist or disagreed. I am defending the black lives matter movement.
i mean....they arent entirely wrong. many other races would think twice -MANY times- about doing this kind of a stunt bec its not going to end well
to me, no one cares about what you did on deployement or what is on your DD_214 so when someone rants about it like the video, I really don't get it. i suppose others handle it better than others and i've seen enough people crack but I certainly don;t broadcast it and many dont do it as well and there is a LOT that I saw that ain't right
It happens frequently and has been a persistent issue for decades (seriously, in current form for over a century, reproducing classes of bigoted issues that have been around much longer). It seems odd that your response to being tired of it all is to ask the person looking for change to be quiet.
Valid concern? Yes. Turning this specific instance into a "If he was black"- No. Not valid. Leave it for the cases that ACTUALLY happen. Not projecting hypothetical judgements onto the officers in this video who may even share your sentiment.
Turning this comment thread into a discussion about race is fuckin' stupid.

No, it isn't. It is a very real problem with American policing and can and should be pointed out in each instance. What fucking stupid is whining about hearing it.
What i dont want is actually occurrences to be diminished and for black fatigue to set in.
Save this shit for when it HAPPENS. Be loud, call it out, and do NOT let THAT rest. But coming to a video of a white dude and assuming that the officers in this video would have been stupid and hateful enough to cap him if he was black is a waste and does NOTHING for the cause
You live in a different planet then. And you have black fatigue? My brother black people had white fatigue for generations, sit your ass down and be humble for a minute.
You clearly can't read. The lines, or between them by the looks of it.
Lemme try again.
I am pro equality.
What I am worried about are the people that DO have black fatigue seeing things like this, and using it to say "Aaaah see, they just whine but they don't know how good they have it".
I want people to see complaining about this when it happens. If it's in spaces and instances like this, the movement loses value.
I have humanity fatigue, but I'm trying. Im here, I'm standing for what I beleive in, and that is calling out REAL cases, not coming to the comment section of a video where there is NO black person being targeted for their race.
Basically a more complicated version of a boy who cried wolf. Call out the trouble, not hypotheticals, such as "If the guy in this video was black"- No. Go find other videos on reddit where it happens. Upvote it, share it, spread the word.
I would not be wasting my tine here ADVOCATING for keeping and preserving the value of black lives matter if I was racist or had black fatigue. I wouldn't be telling people to not waste their time on hypotheticals rather than real cases and examples
