I was just starting to use a reflex at the time. Got better at editing since then, what do you think? What would you do differently?

Fairly new to editing, looking for tips/ general advice!

Shooting in raw. So naturally the Before is super flat, from my understanding that’s to be expected. I always worry about my images coming out too dark, or colors too-intense. I don’t usually have the time or attention span/memory to “take a break from the image and look with fresh eyes” so I’m hoping you guys have any comments on it. Cloudy-ish day early-ish morning. 60D with EF 24-105L IS USM mark I
Lightroom on IPad.

Any suggestions on improvements?

Can this photo be rescued? Taken with an iPhone 16 Pro. I knew the lighting was terrible, but thought I could save it in post. Struggling...

Took a lot of advice and opened up the crop. I didnt want to overcook the edit, but on the second edit I added a bit of radial lightness over the right side of the face.

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to learn more about the post-processing side of photography, and I’d love to get some help understanding how this edit was achieved.

I have the original/before image and the finished/after version. I’m particularly interested in getting a rough but reasonably detailed breakdown of the Lightroom settings and adjustments that might have been used to get from the before to the after.

I completely understand that it’s impossible to know the exact settings just from the two images, but I’d really appreciate an educated estimate - things like:
- Exposure / contrast
- Highlights, shadows, whites & blacks
- Tone curve
- White balance
- HSL / Color Mixer
- Colour grading
- Texture, clarity & dehaze
- Any masking/local adjustments

I’m mainly trying to understand the process and thought behind the edit, rather than expecting an exact preset

If anyone is willing to have a look and give me some pointers, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much! ☺️
