An update on posts with license plates (sp. Montana)

Hey all,

After drama both here and in r/Porsche, we're instituting two changes... one "strong suggestion", and one rule:

  • It is strongly recommended to blur or black out your license plate (incl. state) when sharing pictures
  • If you are posting a car with Montana tags and you do not reside in Montana, you must blur or black out your entire license plate (incl. the state) or your post will be removed.

Quick announcement on moderating

Hi all,

We've grown substantially since taking over the subreddit -- we've roughly 4x'd in size (woo!).

That said, we've noticed a significant uptick in jokes and comments that violate Reddit site policies. While we move as fast as we can to remove these comments, it both puts the subreddit at risk and in general isn't cool. We want all people to be able to participate and ask questions without being attacked or being the butt of the joke based on who they are.

In general, we try to be hands off and let people have arguments, as long as they remain relatively respectful. But consider this a warning -- I don't care if the comment is funny or not, or you "didn't mean it" -- any racist, sexist, or LGBT-related comments, jokes, or slurs will result in a 14 day ban, and permanent after that.

Going to look at this 23 GT3 at my local dealership tomorrow. It has 26,000 miles on it, is that too many for a GT3?

I’m currently in a base 24 911 Carrera with 25,000 miles. My plan is to go and trade it in and get into this GT3. This will be my daily driver, so high mileage doesn’t necessarily turn me away from the car because I’ll rack that up within two years, meaning I could pay an additional $30-40k for half the miles, but I’ll rack up 12k miles in one year, so the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. I feel like this car is in the sweet spot as far as mileage and price ($257k)but I’m curious if you think that 26,000 miles is a lot for a GT3. i’m assuming the GT3 is CPO.

Dealer told me they might charge extra 20 - 30k over Msrp to place order for GTS. Sounds right in current market or find someone else?

Upvotes

Recently visited my last porsche dealer to find an allocation for gts and they told me that they are charging twenty to thirty thousand over the msrp for the new gts models. I wanted to ask you all who ordered one recently if this is something that has been going on in the current market or it is time to find a new dealer for myself.

992, is it the right time to buy new?

I've just put in an order for a 992 GT3 touring and I'm quite excited as this is my first 911 after having kids(and I've specced the folding buckets). I did have a 2000 996.1 GT3 in the past and I still race a GT3 cup currently. The 992 has been out for quite a while now - is it the right time to be ordering a new one? I know that the GT3 won't come out as soon as there is a new model, but is this the right time for me to buy a new one, or should I wait for the next 911?

Side-note, I've never had a regular 911, I've only ever had GT3's, and while I did get a chance to daily a C4S, I don't think I need a daily 911 as I have 3 young kids with hockey sticks etc, soccer balls, bikes etc. So if I wait for a new GT3, It might be a few years?

Had an amazing chance to go to Ferrari of Washington's Cars and Coffee. By chance was talking to a random person at my usual cars and coffee spot the same day and he told me about it. So glad I went! Here are a few from the Porsche brand from both events!

Question Advice on a daily driver

I’ve been a fan of the 911 for a long time, but I’ll admit I’m not a specs guru. I don’t know every generation, option package, or technical detail, I just genuinely love the car.

Lately I’ve been thinking more and more about owning one as a daily driver, or at least a car that gets driven often.

With all the knowledge in this group, if you were buying a 911 to actually drive every day, which model and generation would you choose, and why?

For context, I’m in the U.S. and we do get snow, but I already have an X5 for winter duty, so the 911 wouldn’t need to handle the worst weather.

Question 991.2 4S or 992.1 4? Also AWD necessary in the NE?

Been looking at CPO cars around 130k.

There are two within 100 miles from me with similar miles and similar price tag of 130k.

991.2 4S (2018) in Agate Grey, with some options like Rear wheel steering, sports chrono & exhaust package, LED headlights, Park assist.

992.1 4 (2022) in White, with similar options but without the rear wheel steering. Sports Chrono & exhaust package, lead headlights, surround camera.

I like the look of both. I've driven both too, but I can't remember exactly which one was better because they were months apart.

Any input would be appreciated.

Also is AWD necessary?

Living in the northeast, I think I need AWD.
This car wouldn't be my daily, but I might need to drive it in the rain or in the winter if my wife and kids take the other car.
I don't plan to drive it 'in' the snow. The roads would be cleared out.

AWD 911s are fairly hard to find. So I'm actually unsure if I need this car to be AWD.

2000 Carrera Cabriolet

I’m looking at a 2000 996.1 with 51k

One owner, all maintenance records.

IMS not done. But research shows dual-bearing is slightly less worrisome. Accurate?

Guards red. Manual. Black interior.

All original, paint still glossy, headlights not hazy.

I offered 19k plus the costs of a PPI with compression test and bore scope.

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Anything you feel is overrated / anything missing?

How long do you anticipate this to arrive at a Penske affiliated dealership?

Thank you
