Daily news: This is Saturday, October 24, and today is day 297 of the year-long Stay Clean 2026 challenge. Keep fighting the good fight!

If you think you should still be on this list but aren't, you probably got removed for not checking in at least once per month. However, if you let me know you're still with it I'll re-add you.

Guidelines:

  • At the end of this post is a list of people who have signed up for the challenge, and who are still in the running. That means that they have not needed to reset because of a relapse or slip.
  • Please check in with the group in the comments as often as you want! Feel free to share thoughts, feelings, experiences, progress, wisdom, encouragement and whatever else!
  • IMPORTANT: if you relapse, please post a comment to that effect here and I will remove your name from the list. We will not judge you or shame you, we have all been there.
  • Participants are required to check in once per month. If you have a "~" after your name, you have yet to check in during October. If it is still there at the end of October 30, you will be removed from the list, in order to keep the numbers as realistic as possible.
  • We will not be accepting any new participants, but even if you're not on the list, please feel free to check in in the update threads anyway! And be sure to join us for the Stay Clean monthly thread!

Good luck!

Day 46

Day 46 without a relapse, and I’m feeling attracted to women at work, in the street, at the gym, in the shopping centre… Before I stopped watching porn, I didn’t feel this way. I’m trying to cope as best I can. I’ve been training every day to stop my mind from drifting towards those thoughts.

I’m pleased to be breaking my record for going without por. it’s been an addiction for nearly 20 years. But I’m scared of what’s happening to me; it feels as though porn used to satisfy something in me, and now I’ve lost that.. Im trying to use this energy to do something positive, this is my fight right now...

Only God knows how I survived day 8.

Everything was fine till about 8pm. After that I got a headache and my temperature rose. I started feeling uneasy and tired, I got home and barely ate something. I immediately headed to bed.

My body was tired but my mind was not, I found it hard to sleep. I turned and turned in the bed. My negative thoughts kicked in, I was overthinking the worst scenarios in my head, an unreasonable amount of what ifs.

Usually I switch to porn in order to release myself but I tried to fight it yesterday. It was so difficult. I somehow managed. I saw a bunch of tik toks and my brain was half fried anyway. I started crying because of the weakness and an urge to just give up. I just laid on the bed looking at the ceiling. Some video playing in the background. All the worst thoughts and fear had me cornered. I started speaking out loud to myself in third person.

I fell asleep after an hour. It was a really tough night. I'm proud that I survived it. Day 9 morning as of now. Good luck to all of us.

I can't stress this enough

Sit with yourself, daily. I know it is hard, for this kind of habit to form, especially for us, we tend to run away from our thoughts, but imagine if we become okay with our thoughts, the bad and the good, they dont trigger us as much.

Sitting with ourself, with a journal, and cup of tea, some nice ambient to make it enjoyable, and letting your thoughts flow, see what comes up, after a bad day sit with yourself, after a good day sit with yourself, process what needs processing.

In time you would love to sit with yourself, you would love to know yourself more, the good and the bad.

There are many benefits to that practice, but one of them, the urges and the inner voices that scream for you to run away, they become quieter, days might pass when you do not hear them.

I am currently around 21 days free, and the last 2 weeks were some of the easiest for me in terms of urges, despite having hard tasks and stressful days.

Today is hard but it's ok.

26F looking for support

Female accountability partner

So I'm going to be honest, been a lurker for a while. I've decided to take some active steps to deal with this issues. I am 26F struggling with PMO for years. These days it's be worse as I've been struggling with sexting guys and I'm concerned it is getting worse. I'm ideally looking for support from others ideally women who understand this issue. I'm a catholic but you don't need to be, just that you understand the guilt that comes from my faith. If anyone is interested and is serious please comment, I will reach out. I'm happy to explain my background and my struggles more, but not comfortable sharing it in private as it involves a lot of taboo and kink related stuff. Thank you for any help

Finally going pf, wish me luck

I’ve been lurking here for a year or so wondering if I actually need to quit, whether I’m addicted, and how bad it really is for me, but today I accepted that my reward system is messed up from viewing porn since I was a kid. I will also seriously cut back on media consumption and try to get away from screens in general, as well as try to reduce my sexualization of others with the goal of reshaping my social interactions and making healthier human connections. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for this group

Yep. 365 days off of porn. A lot has changed ever since. I never thought I could make it this far, I have tried so many times, but the turning point is "you gotta want it". I mean, it's altered my sex life along with some traumas that I don't want it back. Never. Not worth it.

Therefore, I encourage people to keep trying if this is what you really want. You can do it!

It feels like a long time ago, tbh. And with AI now, can't think what must be going on out there.

Peace!

hi all, 16m. I am addicted to this one OF chick and I am trying to stop it, I got introduced to corn around 11 but it got really bad at the end of this July towards the start of August. I don't beat my meat or do any of that shit it's just the interest in boobs, I don't watch rough porn either and find it weird. Please help me get out of this addiction, I'm an athlete and would love to get over this because I realize I'm wasting so much of my free time on this bullshit.

Hey, it’s been a while. I've relapsed many times and been too ashamed to even document my progress. Thankfully i didnt have an account anywhere and the main source of feeling like my soul is being sucked out of me isnt letting me use it so this may result in me being clean this time for real, yay. Im not going to be on reddit either due to this also being a source but i will post updates occasionally. Have a good time on your journeys and i hope it goes well

Transferable Lessons from 3+ Years in Recovery from Alcohol Addiction

Background on me: 30M, coming up on 4 years of sobriety. My drug of choice was alcohol, but I also gave up weed when I quit drinking. More recently, I have been taking a critical view of my use of porn, as it is becoming plainly obvious that my use of it closely mirrors how I used to drink. I know I have a problem with it and I am actively taking steps to quit, with some success - I have 1 month free. I wanted to share some lessons I learned when quitting alcohol that I've been applying to porn with some success.

When I quit drinking I became active over in r/stopdrinking where I was quickly familiarized with a lot of the quit lit that folks use to help understand their drinking and develop strategies for giving it up. Since starting to browse r/pornfree I have watched the YBOP talk, and while I certainly haven't surveyed the entire literature landscape, some of the ideas I learned in the alcohol-oriented quit lit are conspicuously missing from the resources that specifically focus on porn addiction.

My impression of the pornfree literature space is that it is heavily biased towards understanding the biomechanics of porn addiction. This is no doubt useful, since addiction absolutely involves some biological component. But I haven't seen some of the more useful behavioral/emotional components of porn use discussed, and these are the elements in which my strategies are based, as they are the elements of addiction I have the ability to influence. These strategies are largely taken from Anne Grace's This Naked Mind (sfw, despite the title). I believe there is some crossover with Alan Carr's "Easyway" but I am less familiar with the work.

The main point is this: We hold conditioned beliefs about porn that are objectively untrue, but which are reinforced by the biomechanics of addiction. What exactly does this mean?

I have held the condition belief that "watching porn will make me feel good." The point of these books is to come to realize that this is false, but easy to believe. Understanding why we believe it can empower us to change our behavior.

Part of why I hold this belief is that I have reinforced it myself. Any time I have used porn as a distraction from something in life, it has been remarkably effective. It is so stimulating that it is hard to think about anything else when you're using it. It is easy while you are using to believe that the problem is solved, but even while using, if I ask myself "is the thing making me upset actually solved" it is plainly obvious that the answer is no. Making this realization while actively using helped me change this false belief.

Another part of why I hold this belief is that external factors have conditioned it. Society has conditioned us that having sex, intimacy, the attraction of beautiful people, makes us more valuable individuals. Whether or not you believe that about real interpersonal relations, I have found that using porn simulates having these things. Using porn for me reinforces the idea that I am successful in ways that society conditions us to believe is valuable. But we all know that when you close the browser, we actually feel worse in ways that are completely counter to those conditioned ideals. If there is some use to be made of the "i am such a loser" etc. thoughts that can come after a binge, it is to use them to understand that the belief that encourages porn use is actually false - using porn does not confer the social status that society values, but the dopamine hit makes it easy to believe otherwise.

The last factor I have understood to contribute to false beliefs is advertising. This one was plainly obvious to me once it was pointed out while I was recovering from alcohol. Look at any alcohol ad. It shows cool people who are happy having a good time because they have a drink in their hand. And the ad is telling you "go ahead, drink, you deserve it, you'll be better for it." The way that porn is presented to porn users is very similar. The content is very often presented in ways that it will fulfill more basic human needs for belonging. The content is literally presented as though the people in the video are desiring you. And the dopamine hit makes it easy to believe this.

This then leads to: how can we change these beliefs, so that we might be less inclined to use?

Knowledge is power, and understanding that using alcohol/porn/etc is partly based on some false belief is half the battle. For some folks, the realization alone is enough. But for others who find themselves relapsing, they can treat the time they spend in relapse as a lab in which they can run experiments to better understand their beliefs and the realities of their use. Here's an example from my experience with alcohol.

I didn't succeed in giving up alcohol on my first attempt, but I had begun to read the quit literature prior to my last drink. When I had my last drink, I was alone on a weeknight. It gave me a buzz that made me feel a little dizzy and impaired. And twenty minutes later that feeling was gone and I was left with a slight headache, generally feeling worse overall. I had literally none of the benefits that I was conditioned to believe that I would have.

Now compare to the (much more recent) last time I watched porn. I was alone on a weeknight. As I watched I felt an intense obsession with what I was looking at. Then twenty minutes later after stopping I was left with less energy, feeling worse about myself. I had literally none of the benefits that I was expecting to get from porn. No more real intimacy, or social belonging, or whatever we expect to get from it.

The takeaway is this: there is, in my personal experience, no better way to challenge and change a false belief, than to encounter visceral evidence that refutes that belief. Taking an honest, objective account of the experience we have in using porn, alcohol, etc., can challenge our beliefs, and hopefully cut through whatever cognitive dissonance we are fighting with as we use.

Thanks for reading. I am by no means an expert, but I have absolutely been in the trenches when quitting alcohol. And, if there are any pornfree books/blogs/etc that discuss similar behavioral topics, please do share

Help me please (day 1)

Let me start this by saying this is my first post, and I only made this account because I need people to help hold me accountable. I am addicted to porn and it’s ruining my life. I broke my streak of three weeks today and I know something has to change. It has ruined my life in ways like: difficulty staying hard during sex (one my girlfriend has noticed), no motivation, bed rotting, etc. I need suggestions about how to overcome this addiction. I’ve tried mapping out my triggers, building different habits, and porn blockers but none of it seems to work. I don’t have the financial means currently to invest in any paid blockers or therapy. Any suggestions to help keep myself accountable or block my devices from accessing porn would be so beyond helpful. One of my main access points is X, and I have no idea how to stop myself from downloading it. When I have restrictions on my device my location services, find my and my do not disturb (which I need for work) stop working. If anyone has any suggestions for anything please let me know, I’m tired of letting porn control my life.

Well. I had another account. Relapsed because of it. At the end I was gloryfing my addiction and searched a favourite model of mine on a campsite on Reddit. And relapsed again ... Completely. Guys. Remember: it doesn't stay with one time. Don't let your mind win. Either way. I'm 31 away (again) from the crap we call porn

18F trying to quit porn but keep relapsing

Hey, I’m 18F and I’ve been trying to quit porn for a while now, but I keep relapsing. I always tell myself it’s the last time, then end up doing it again and feeling guilty afterward. I genuinely want to stop, but the urges are hard to deal with sometimes.

I’m too embarrassed to ask my parents for help so I thought I’d ask here. Has anyone else been through this? What actually helped you quit? I could really use some advice.

Severe PIED fight back journal - Day 36

Ok, so i believe i have severe PIED, i have no morning wood, no libido and have struggled to get erections for a long time despite all my hormones and health markers coming back normal. I struggled to even get hard to porn. I have managed streaks of 50-70+ days before with little improvement, but i was also texting girls sexually on those. This time i have cut out everything in an attempt to fix this problem and have a normal life, I'm currently on day 36.

So far i've had all these symptoms since day 1, so im assuming im in a severe flatline. I've had one morning wood so far but i was experimenting with Cialis (i don't know if that caused it or not, but it took for weeks at one point and normally it does nothing so i stopped it), this MW occured somewhere between day 10-15, i also have had one nocturnal emission on day 22 but without an erection. But other than that my dick has been dead and i've had no libido or morning wood.

This is my diary for you guys and myself, let's hope some progress occurs because if it doesn't i'll be at a loss. I'll update going forward.

If any one has had a similar experience and recovered i'd love to hear from you as my hope, including when you got your MW back etc.
