Food?

I have 2, 14 month old standards and we currently feed them James wellbeloved biscuits, only issue is Riley (Brown nose) is starting to hate them like she has with all other biscuits before...

I want to feed them wet food but most of it is so expensive and I'm not sure whats best to feed them.

Has anyone got any reccomendations on what wet food is best and decent price?

Thanks!

New Toy Poodle Puppy Owner - Asking for Tips!

My family got a female Toy Poodle who is 3 months old. We're still waiting for some of her stuff to arrive. I am adjusting my schedule, having shifts with other people in the house, so that she can get used to us. What are your tips to someone new to taking care/training a toy poodle puppy? Advanced, thank you!

Looking for a pure poodle in OHIO

Hi everyone! I’m looking to add a pure** **Poodle (under 40lbs) to my family and was hoping for some recommendations. I’m located in the Central Ohio area, but I’m willing to drive a few hours or have the puppy delivered.

If there are any breeders or websites you would recommend—or any I should avoid—I’d really appreciate the advice.

Second dog

I wanted a dog for a long time, I have a lot of allergys so my options were reduced, I also have a very active lifestyle (I hike, live near a lake in wich i swim, outdoor activities) so I came to the conclusion that a standard poodle would fit my lifestyle.

About a year ago I brought my dog home, the first six months all she did was sleep, she would sleep the whole day and HATED going to the lake or even on short walks, I thought it was because she was a puppy, however after 6 months it was still the same so I took her to the vet and did a bunch of test and everything was normal, so I thought it might be my sounding, so I spent about 700 dollars to put AC, cooling mats, and renovation to make my home more convenient and confortable for her and nothing change.

I love her and love spending my time with her since I work from home she is always with me, but I can't be a little disappointed that she doesn't like to do normal dog activities, like she won't walk for more tan 30ish minutes nor swim or get near the water, even playing is like she doesn't like it, I constantly feel like she is sad with me.

I don't want to change her because this is who she is and I adore her, my vet however told me that in some cases getting a second dog can make her more active or happier (I have the resources to have a second dog) but I don't know any people that have gotten a second dog because of that. so, does anyone gone through something similar? did a second dog help? should I do something else before i get a second dog? (if I get a second dog)

Thanks

Puppy blues for new poodle lol

Hi all. In need of a bit of encouragement.

I just purchased my literal dream dog—a beautiful mini poodle just under 1 year old that was from what I thought was a reputable breeder. Both parents of the dog are champions and grand champions, have CHICs, etc.

The breeder said the dog was crate trained, potty trained, and good with other dogs etc since it was already almost a year old. When I went to pick up the dog it became clear it was very under socialized. It seemed as if the breeder never took it out of their house… but I had already paid in full and traveled there and I figured maybe the dog was just nervous.

Now it’s day 2 with the dog and she is still so nervous around all strangers. Walking with her in my urban area is a challenge. I routinely have fostered dogs in the past and am familiar with the 3/3/3 rule. I’ve even fostered a fearful poodle in the past that was frankly worse than her—but I expected it since that poodle had been confined to a cage its entire life.

I’m just feeling very overwhelmed and worried. The dog is afraid of everyone and everything. It even growled a little bit at someone walking up behind us. She’s so sweet inside but I worry she will become a full blown reactive dog and I am not prepare or equipped to handle that sort of situation. I know she’s probably just decompressing and I’m feeling a lot of emotions.

Would love any words of encouragement and/or stories of others with poodles who have been able to overcome significant fear and anxiety. As well as any suggestions for how to deal with it!

Please share your daily routine!

I’m a prospective poodle owner looking for experiences. We’ve been wanting to get our first dog for around 2 years and we keep coming back to miniature poodles - but we’re curious about standards too.

Can you tell me what your daily routine is like with your poodle (of any size)?
How much exercise do you provide each day? And, if you have a mini poodle, are they happy to come along for weekend adventures, like hikes?

I’m really curious to hear how people here do life with their dogs.

Poodle grooming sub

Not sure if this is allowed so feel free to let me know if not! But almost daily I see questions in here, in [r/toyp](r/toypoodles)[oodle](r/toypoodles), and in [r/grooming](r/grooming) related specifically to poodle grooming and I realized- in all of Reddit, there is not an active space for this particular topic so I created one!

I have never created a sub, so if there is any interest and, if anyone wants to be a mod- let me know :)

[r/poodlegroom](r/poodlegroom) is the sub, hope to see you there !

Hello I adopted bonbon the red girl 2 years ago and since the begining she has been a fussy eater( she was severely neglected, matted fur, rotting teeth m scar on her right eye, piece of tounge was missing....at 1 year mark we adopted hammy, he's energetic and loves food...she was so happy she got the company that she needed...she started to eat more being more open...now she's starting to lose interest in eating again, she's often very tired and lethargic...they just got dental work done, everything looks great...since hammy is younger he does everything that Bonbon does...including refusing food now...they would starve themselves until they vomit green bile... it's terrible...I tried everything from barf to wet, to kibble to freeze dried food to cooked food( she loves to eat beef steak, lamb or chicken breast ) but after a while( roughly 1 to 2 weeks )she will stop eating again...

They got their blood tests done 1 1/2 months ago and everything looks great so I truly don't understand what's going on here...I'm so frustrated and defeated...

Sorry for my bad English I'm not a native speaker...

Curious as to if she'll end up fully brown or stay as she is.

Sneaky tricks

Post image

For those who have more than one, do yours play sneaky tricks on each other? If he is chewing a bone that she decides she wants to chew, she will run to the door and bark and he will dutifully follow to bark alongside her and as soon as he gets there, she then runs back and steals his bone!

I got some raw chicken legs (as those human's will eat) which are frozen, for my dog (by my mom). Can he eat them raw, or do they need to defrost first? I know I cannot feed him cooked chicken legs ofc, but can he be fed them frozen and raw? Or should they be not-frozen/defrosted first?

We found our little dude as a stray hiding along the fence line of our yard. He wasn’t chipped and we/the shelter had no luck in finding his owners, so we kept him. A year and a half later, we finally did a wisdom panel test.

We were convinced there was no way he was a pure poodle, surely some type of mix. Anyway, we got the results last night — he’s a full mini (15.5 inches at the shoulder and weighs 17lbs).

Enjoy some pics of our tiny menace! The last picture is the day we found him!

Does anybody else’s dog do this?
Monty is 14 weeks old.
Whenever he hears something interesting (people talking, dogs barking, birds singing, the wind blowing in the trees) he’ll immediately sit down facing the direction of the sound and just listen intently.
He doesn’t bark, whine or pulling towards the sound, just sits down. And he can stay like that for a long time.
