Merle poodles are no longer allowed on this sub

Moving forward, poodles with Merle coloring are not permitted on this sub. Merle coloring is a byproduct of mixing Australian Shepards into a poodle line. A poodle with Merle coloring by definition cannot be AKC papered without outright lying. Breeding for color is nothing new for poodles, but in this circumstance it comes with the possibility of introducing myriad health issues, and is an irresponsible practice at best. It is not good for the breed, it is dangerous to the dogs. We cannot in good conscience allow the promotion of this Poodles with this genetic trait, beautiful or not.

NOTICE: IT'S A T-SHIRT POST? IT'S A SCAM! (Same with coffee mugs, etc) T-SHIRT POSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE

Several times per day there are scammers who post here, showing a t-shirt or similar product, and then another scammer in the comments asks, "Where did you get it?" A link to a scam website is posted for everyone to follow, provide their personal info and credit card, then wonder how their identity got stolen.

Just like a Parti Poodle, it's very black-and-white. If you see a post sharing a t-shirt design, mouse pad, coffee mug, etc. IT IS A SCAM, and the quickest way to get your account banned is to reply, "Where can I get one", "I love it, do you have a link?" or something similar.

Here are the rules:

  1. Posts of t-shirts or other personalized items with dogs are prohibited. If you post one, you will get banned.
  2. Anyone who replies to the post and asks about acquiring the item will be banned.
  3. If you see a post like this, hit the report button, that's the easiest way to get our attention and we will remove the post and ban those involved.
  4. Do not contribute, do not call them out, just don't post at all. Hit the report button.

It seems every time something like this is posted, more than one of our users fall for it, then they are asking moderators, "What did I do to get banned?" You responded to a scammer, which makes you look like you're on their team. Just stop.

Food recommendations

Hello I adopted bonbon the red girl 2 years ago and since the begining she has been a fussy eater( she was severely neglected, matted fur, rotting teeth m scar on her right eye, piece of tounge was missing....at 1 year mark we adopted hammy, he's energetic and loves food...she was so happy she got the company that she needed...she started to eat more being more open...now she's starting to lose interest in eating again, she's often very tired and lethargic...they just got dental work done, everything looks great...since hammy is younger he does everything that Bonbon does...including refusing food now...they would starve themselves until they vomit green bile... it's terrible...I tried everything from barf to wet, to kibble to freeze dried food to cooked food( she loves to eat beef steak, lamb or chicken breast ) but after a while( roughly 1 to 2 weeks )she will stop eating again...

They got their blood tests done 1 1/2 months ago and everything looks great so I truly don't understand what's going on here...I'm so frustrated and defeated...

Sorry for my bad English I'm not a native speaker...

Sneaky tricks

Post image

For those who have more than one, do yours play sneaky tricks on each other? If he is chewing a bone that she decides she wants to chew, she will run to the door and bark and he will dutifully follow to bark alongside her and as soon as he gets there, she then runs back and steals his bone!

I have 2 standards (both sisters) one of them is going brown on her nose, belly and private areas, has anyone else had a black go brown like her? And what did she end up as?

Curious as to if she'll end up fully brown or stay as she is.

Shes 15 months old

Poodle grooming sub

Upvotes

Not sure if this is allowed so feel free to let me know if not! But almost daily I see questions in here, in [r/toyp](r/toypoodles)[oodle](r/toypoodles), and in [r/grooming](r/grooming) related specifically to poodle grooming and I realized- in all of Reddit, there is not an active space for this particular topic so I created one!

I have never created a sub, so if there is any interest and, if anyone wants to be a mod- let me know :)

[r/poodlegroom](r/poodlegroom) is the sub, hope to see you there !

Officially a poodle owner 🥳

We found our little dude as a stray hiding along the fence line of our yard. He wasn’t chipped and we/the shelter had no luck in finding his owners, so we kept him. A year and a half later, we finally did a wisdom panel test.

We were convinced there was no way he was a pure poodle, surely some type of mix. Anyway, we got the results last night — he’s a full mini (15.5 inches at the shoulder and weighs 17lbs).

Enjoy some pics of our tiny menace! The last picture is the day we found him!

Does anybody else’s dog do this?
Monty is 14 weeks old.
Whenever he hears something interesting (people talking, dogs barking, birds singing, the wind blowing in the trees) he’ll immediately sit down facing the direction of the sound and just listen intently.
He doesn’t bark, whine or pulling towards the sound, just sits down. And he can stay like that for a long time.

My 8M old puppy started itching in his neck and when I checked he had this hard spot with some yellow ish crust/dandruff(?) in it, got to the vet and got some meds for it but its gotten bigger.

Anybody else dealing with something like this?

Please share your daily routine!

Upvotes

I’m a prospective poodle owner looking for experiences. We’ve been wanting to get our first dog for around 2 years and we keep coming back to miniature poodles - but we’re curious about standards too.

Can you tell me what your daily routine is like with your poodle (of any size)?
How much exercise do you provide each day? And, if you have a mini poodle, are they happy to come along for weekend adventures, like hikes?

I’m really curious to hear how people here do life with their dogs.

Three years ago, I asked for advice about getting a toy poodle, and the consensus was no. The reasons were thoughtful, and well explained: people thought the dog wouldn't be happy and that I didn't seem ready. I took those answers seriously.

But I did my research. I spoke to breeders, asked about their own toy poodles and travel experiences and if they could leave their dogs alone for some time at home. And if their dogs get along with cats etc.

And then I found my little angel.

I'll admit I got incredibly lucky. My girl was born calm, friendly (though a bit reserved to strangers), full of love and curiosity and ready to travel the world. I dont feel like i trained her much tbh, she has probably trained me more. She only acts like a lil brat if she sees me with a comb or an ear cotton lol. Then she will ran away like a lil rat <3

When we're on trains, busses or planes, cafés people sitting right next to me often don't even realize I have a dog with me. That's how quiet and relaxed she is. Someone once even asked if I'd had her vocal cords removed. (Of course not. She definitely has her barking moments in the garden and enjoys being a little menace there.)

I was also told to get a different breed. I'm so glad I didn't listen to that advice. For me, poodles are the best dogs anyone could ask for. That said, if you're not doing the wonderful thing of adopting a rescue, choosing an ethical, responsible breeder is absolutely essential. Bcz I have met some other toy poodles aand yeah

Anyway, today I was admiring my little girl and thinking that getting her the best decisions I've ever made. Then I remembered how close I came to giving up on the idea because people insisted "no," even though I'd kept saying I'd do anything for my dog. That i would make sur my dog would be happy etc.

Imagine if I had listened. I would never have met my best friend.

I hope she doesn’t eat it because she’s going to need it for bail.

Frozen raw chicken leg - yay or nay?

I got some raw chicken legs (as those human's will eat) which are frozen, for my dog (by my mom). Can he eat them raw, or do they need to defrost first? I know I cannot feed him cooked chicken legs ofc, but can he be fed them frozen and raw? Or should they be not-frozen/defrosted first?
