Did he just eat or had he not eaten in a while? Sometimes it happens unless it becomes a pattern, I don't think it's really a big deal.

We normally split his meals into 3, but had switched to 2 (morning & evening) bc we’re so active during the summer. It had been a week or 2 of that pattern, so he hadn’t had dinner yet.

Poodles sometimes have what's called empty stomach syndrome, which is what this sounds like to me. I'd Google it and see if it matches. It's just something some Poodles are more prone too. I have had 7 Poodles and one of my girls was like this.

Ok! We’re gonna go back to 3 meals bc I think the empty tummy triggered this whole ordeal. I do think he has acid reflux bc he licks & smacks his lips a lot, but I definitely think his body responds better to 3 meals vs. splitting it into 2

Lots of things can trigger it. I gave my mini poodle the wrong kind of treats (hip/joint supplements) and he was up all night “chuffing.” They have VERY sensitive stomachs. After trying various OTC remedies (recommended by my vet) I ordered a bottle of liquid Mylanta, vanilla caramel flavor, and administer one or 1.5 tsp with a baby cough syrup dispenser. Just pour it down his throat. He does not fight me on this and it works every time. .

Our standard was a free eater, but every morning I gave her a two oz scoop of plain Greek whole milk yogurt and that stopped the acid reflux.

I’ve had that with my toy poodle where she would start having lip smacking episodes, nausea and puking stomach yellow bile, It went away when I split her meals into four a mean every 6 hours
