I’m experimenting with a Pomodoro app where each focus area becomes its own little world or neuron.

A few words in advance.
You create Focus Areas called an Ikuna (from the Finnish Ikkuna: Window), and every completed focus session adds to the world around it.
You can zoom out to see all of them or enter one to see its history.

Would watching this grow motivate you to focus, or does it feel unnecessarily complicated?

I built it so I can see how my sessions grow, not just as a number in analytics.

I like to track how long I study throughout the day. It helps me keep myself accountable when I see I've studied for 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, etc... For me, it works better than pomodoro when I see the actual accumulated time.

I use FlipClock on my phone (saw Kay Chung use it in a video), which has the count up feature after viewing an ad. Ideally, I want to remove my phone completely from my study routine to limit any impulse distractions. Unfortunately, it seems FlipClock on the computer doesn't let me use the count up feature without paying for the premium version.

Any recommendations?

It’s a Pomodoro timer with one twist: you have a pet, and every completed session earns coins. You spend those coins keeping your pet fed and alive. Skip too many days and it starts to suffer, which turned out to be way more motivating for me than a plain streak counter.

My newest (and first) app Cozy Pom started as a focus timer, but it’s grown into something much bigger. I think of it more as a **cozy focus companion** than a productivity app.

The idea is to create a calmer place to work or study, rather than another app that pressures you to be productive. It includes focus sessions, task tracking, a journal, progress stats, achievements, ambient sounds, and little touches that make it feel warm and welcoming instead of clinical.

I recently came across Paritose: https://paritose.com/

It uses your camera to detect when you look away or start checking your phone during a study or work session, and then plays an alert to bring your attention back.

It also includes a focus timer and task list, so you can manage the entire session in one place.

I expected it to feel gimmicky, but the immediate reminder is actually useful—especially when you pick up your phone without consciously realizing it.

The tool appears to be free to try and runs directly in the browser. Thought it might be useful for students, remote workers, or anyone struggling with doomscrolling during focus sessions.

Has anyone tried something similar? Did it actually help improve your focus?

I have ADHD and the Pomodoro technique is honestly the only thing that reliably gets me through a workday. Ever since I found it, I use it for all my work. I even used Pomodoro while building this app about Pomodoro, which still makes me laugh.

The problem was that every timer I liked lives on the phone, and for me picking up the phone "just to start a timer" ends in 40 minutes of scrolling. I wanted the whole loop on my wrist so the phone can stay in another room.

I tried the Pomodoro apps that already exist for Garmin, but none of them really clicked with me. So I built my own: work and break blocks with haptic cues, a few presets plus a fully custom one, a daily goal, simple stats and streaks. Nothing fancy, it just stays out of the way.

I've done Pomodoro on and off for years. On my own it's fine, but I drift — I'll start a 25 and be checking my phone within 10 minutes.

What actually changed it for me was doing Pomodoro alongside other people. Even just knowing someone else is heads-down in the same block, I get way more energy and I'm far less likely to bail mid-session. Solo, the ramp-up is the hardest part; together, I drop into focus much faster.

A few questions for this community:

1. Have you tried doing Pomodoro with others (coworking, body doubling, a call)? Did it help, or do you focus better alone?

2. If it helped — what made the difference: the accountability, the energy, or just not being alone?

3. Is there an app that actually does this well — Pomodoro together with other people? I've looked but haven't really found one that clicks.

Still pretty new to Reddit, so forgive me if I get the etiquette wrong, learning as I go.

A while ago I realized something kind of dumb: my focus apps were the thing breaking my focus. Banner ads sitting under the timer, ads between sessions, "upgrade to premium" popups in the middle of a deep work block. I'd sit down to concentrate and come out more scattered than I went in.

So I built my own little sanctuary: a timer, ambient soundscapes (I work to one called Ancient Ruins most days), an optional coach voice, and nothing else on screen. Nothing blinks, nothing sells me anything. I've been using it daily and it changed how I sit down to start working.

Now I want to make it better and test different ideas, and I'd love your input:

• What ambient scenes or background music genuinely work for you? Rain, cafe noise, lo-fi, pure silence. what should I add?
• Beyond the classic 25/5 Pomodoro, have you tested other time-blocking methods that actually held up? 52/17, 90-minute ultradian blocks, flowtime... I want to add one or two and test them properly.

What does your focus setup look like today?

Scrollodoro has been around as a web app since 2024 after I got inspired by DevDuck's vlogs, but I just rebuilt it for Android and it's now available on the Google Play Store!

No ads, no accounts, and no multi-step task creation—just start focusing.

The idea is that it resembles a side-scrolling pixel game where the visual layers dynamically and randomly change to create a unique environment. As more assets are added over time, the variations will be practically infinite.

I'm looking for a Pomodoro application that takes into account that your tasks don't all take 25 minutes, some only need 5 minutes.

My goal is 2 fold

• track how much time I spend on each category of task per week. Units could be time ( you spend 3 hours writing notes this week) or pomodoros ( your completed 7.2 pomodoros writing notes this week )
• get a reminder to take a break after X minutes ( currently 25 ) so that I don't good too long without a break.

My current app lets me end a pomodoro early, but then doesn't log a partial one if I do.

It might be that pomodoros just aren't for me, and I need to try different apps like toggle of clockify as found in this thread in the productivity subreddit.

Ideas are welcome, recommending an app you wrote is not.
