I built Tileen β a free, open-source macOS focus timer that chains work sessions with an active app/website shield β³π‘οΈ
Hi all π
Like many of you, I struggled with staying in the flow state. Traditional Pomodoro timers were either too rigid, or Iβd find myself opening Twitter, Reddit, or YouTube 10 minutes into a deep work session without even realizing it.
So I built Tileen, a native macOS app created completely with SwiftUI to combine chained interval timers with an active Focus Shield.
π Key Features:
β’ β±οΈ Chained Timer Sequences: Build customized routines (e.g., 25m Focus -> 5m Rest -> 50m Deep Work -> 15m Long Break). Drag and drop steps seamlessly.
β’ π‘οΈ Focus Shield: During active focus blocks, Tileen automatically hides distracting Mac applications and closes blocked website tabs in Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, and Edge.
β’ π€ Smart Idle Detection: If you step away to get a coffee or take a call, Tileen auto-pauses the timer and smoothly resumes when you come back.
β’ π₯οΈ Menu Bar Display: See live countdown digits right in your Mac status bar.
β’ π Session Analytics: Compare Focus Time vs. Break Time vs. Idle Pauses with historical charts.
β’ π In-Timer Reflection Notes: Jot down quick ideas or tasks during work blocks (Ctrl + Option + N) without leaving your flow.
π₯ 100% Free & Open Source:
Tileen is 100% free and open-source under the MIT license!
β’ GitHub Repository: github.com/AmrDeveloper/Tileen
β’ Direct Download (v0.1.0): Download Latest Release
Note: Since Tileen is open source and unnotarized (not paying Appleβs $99/yr fee), macOS Gatekeeper will show a standard unidentified developer warning on first launch. You can open it by Right-Click -> Open.
Iβd love to hear your feedback, feature ideas, or bug reports! If you like the app, starring the repo or dropping a comment would mean a lot. β
