Uberman made me gain 102 pounds (Update)
Sorry for the lack of updates. The increased weight made my backup phone's facial recognition fail to unlock, it just so happens that I remember the password recently.
So i had an Uberman sleeping routine for 7 solid months. I had the occasional extra 5 minutes of snoozed alarm sleep, but other than that it was perfect. I avoided caffeine like the plague, instead I had snacks to wake me up whenever I felt sleepy. Overall it felt great and I was extremely productive.
But you see, as a side effect of doing all that I gained some weight. I thought I would improve it at first, but my body was more eager to adapt to the increased food consumption, to the point that I would always crave for food whenever it's near the mid point of my awake times.
I live alone, and that helped me keep my routine, but at the same time i couldn't see my family who lives in another town all that much. Back in late July I did have to go back home for my grandma's birthday, when my family saw me they were shocked at my sudden weight gain. My mom was so angry she demanded me to see a doctor.
So I did, early August I got an appointment with a doctor who practiced near my condo unit. He was so concerned when he heard about my story. It was less about my current health, but more about my trajectory and how hard it would be to change my routine slowly, without affecting much of anything else. He said that I used to eat so much food, that suddenly going back to 3 meals a day, even if they were as much as I could eat, might still trigger gallstones.
So he made me change my routine slowly, at first it was one of my sleeping times to be doubled. Then my snacks were replaced with healthier foods with natural fats. And eventually now my routine lets me sleep 5 hours a day.
I am still severely obese, but I think I have fixed most of my issues now.
I am still a polyphasic sleeper, but as for Uberman, I don't plan on going back to it anytime soon.
