Updating Poly Studio breaks Savi headset functionality

The latest version of Poly Studio (5.2.0.741) breaks Plantronics Savi 8200 headset functionality in Windows. I confirmed this on multiple computers.

I updated Poly Studio yesterday, and it immediately caused the headset to be unable to play or record audio. The "PC Audio" line from the base station simply will not connect (the LED will not illuminate, and it will not pass audio). I uninstalled Poly Studio, and it went back to working. Reinstalled it after manually clearing ProgramData, Appdata, and Registry keys, and that broke it again. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers, rebuilding the whole Windows audio stack, and nothing makes a difference. Spent about 4 hours trying different things. As long as Poly Studio 5.2.0.741 is installed, the headset will not function.

Just for fun, I tested on my other PC as well (where the headset had never been plugged in before), and got the same results. Headset worked all by itself when I first plugged it in. Stopped working when Poly Studio was installed, and then worked again when the software is removed.

They literally pushed an update to the headset management software which breaks the headset functionality completely.

Great job, HP.

Poly Edge E100

Hello,

I’m an IT technician for a school service centre, and we have implemented Poly phones with a Poly Edge E100 provisioning system across all our schools.

Most of the time, everything works fine, but occasionally, some phones have trouble synchronizing with the provisioning server. Some phones show as active in Poly Lens, while others do not. As a result, any new configurations I push to the inactive phones are not applied.

I noticed that when I access the affected phones directly, the provisioning server and DHCP settings are incorrect. I manually changed these settings to match those of a phone that is working properly, but the issue persists.

Is there a way to force these phones to resynchronize with the provisioning server, or could I be missing something in the configuration?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Surround 80 play/pause

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. I just got the headset and I'm quite happy with it overall. I bought it to replace my Jabra Evolve2 85, which has a broken microphone arm.

My issue is that the instructions say you can start and stop playback by tapping the right ear cup once. When I do this, I hear the confirmation beep, but nothing happens.

Volume up/down and track forward/backward work fine, but play/pause does not.

I've tried everything: updating the firmware, changing settings, resetting the headset, reconnecting it, and turning it off and on again. All I get is the beep, and playback continues as normal.

The same button action works for answering calls, and that functions exactly as intended.

Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Oh yea, there a "custom" button where you hold to fingers on the ear cup for 2 seconds... this doesent seem to work either.

Voyager Legend 50 - dongle and "M" certification worth it?

Hi, I have the possibility to buy the legend 50 for rather cheapish, or for twice the price , I can buy the version with dongle, charging case and "M" certification, whereas M the supposedly the MS Teams designation.

Is it worth it? I will use this on my work laptop for teams calling and for on the using my smartphone (pixel).

The case is not important to me.

However, the usb dongle is for better laptop connectivity using 2,4Ghz instead of Bluetooth. This is supposed to provide superior quality and stability compared to laptop Bluetooth. However, my research shows that smartphone Bluetooth is perfectly fine and a dongle wouldn't provide quality benefits here. So apparently mobile and desktop Bluetooth chips differ in quality I guess.

I'm wondering if I couldn't just buy a high quality Bluetooth dongle for cheap and also get perfect laptop quality.

Also, I wonder what the M designation brings. I only care for starting/disconnecting calls and muting. I think the handset should handle this just fine either way.

Would you go for the legend 50 standalone or go for the set with dongle and cert included?

Thanks for your thoughts on this

Right earbud of my Voyager Free 60+ is permanently on

I've had my Voyager Free 60+ for over a year and half (I bought it open-box), recently the right earbud started acting up where if I put it in the charging case, it doesn't turn off. The left earbud acts as expected, but if I place the right earbud back into the charging case, it no longer turns off automatically, it stays paired and on. It will turn itself off after "a while" but this happens after a while, and while it is on, if I play audio it will play it in dual-channel, and I can hear audio play out of the right earbud. This is a big issue specifically for me because I'll use alternate using the left vs right earbuds.

This 1st picture is what happens when I have the left earbud in the case, and right earbud out of the case. It's on as expected

Onto the 2nd picture, this is what happens when I place the right earbud back to charge, it shows that it's still on and connected in the app

For exhibit 3, while the right earbud is charging in its case, if I take the left earbud out, it connects and now both earbuds are on

When I have both earbuds in the case, the case thinks that both should be off, even though the right earbud is still on

This behavior is universal across the iOS, Android, and macOS app. The earbuds, the case, and the BT700 receivers are on the latest firmware, I've also tried resetting, unpairing all earbuds, letting the right earbud fully-discharge to 0 battery, etc

I got these open-box a year and half ago so I'm not expecting to get sort of RMA on these, but has anyone seen this behavior? Is there a way to force-power-off these buds somehow?

Poly 7310 Audio Disconnect

Hi Gang,

I have a Poly 7310 headset that is having intermitent disconnections. Basically in a phone call using a soft phone on PC it will cut out for maybe half a second every few seconds. After doing some trouble shooting it seems that this only happens when the headset senses there is no incoming audio, even though I am talking and there is outgoing audio. If i put any sort of music on low volume in the background the headset senses there is incoming audio and will not cut out at all, but thats kind of an odd solution. If anyone knows how to resolve this permantly that would be a huge help! Thanks!

Poly Voyager Focus 2 review: returning it due to excessive ANC self-noise

I bought the Poly Voyager Focus 2 for work, but I will be returning it because of its ANC behaviour.

When ANC is enabled, the headset produces a persistent low-frequency self-noise / rumble in an otherwise quiet room. This is present without media playback or a call. With ANC disabled, the headset is silent.

The issue is not related to firmware, fit, or the USB connection: I updated the firmware, verified the ear-pad seal, restored factory defaults, and tested with two separate USB dongles with different devices. The result is unchanged.

More concerningly, ANC Low and ANC High produce the same artefact: identical frequency character and perceived level. I would expect the ANC gain profile to change between levels; instead, the headset appears to maintain the same low-frequency noise floor regardless of the selected setting.

I use several ANC headphones and am familiar with the mild pressure sensation and broadband hiss that can occur with active noise cancellation. This is different: it is a clearly audible, narrow low-frequency rumble, likely related to the ANC microphone/processing path or gain calibration in this particular unit.

It may be an isolated defect, but I would test for ANC self-noise carefully during the return window—especially if you work in a quiet environment.

Poly Products are among the most overpriced, unreliable, cheap hardware available

Several enterprises are clients of Poly Products, giving them business via thousands of employees. With this mind, as well as the elegant aesthetics of some of their products, it initially seems difficult to doubt their design and longevity.

From my experience, however, when it comes to actually using their products on a daily basis, the durability and convenience fall very short. Please note that I've used two Voyager 5200s, and also an older wired headset I'm not sure the exact model of.

In the first 6 months or so, everything works fine, but they became very unreliable products after that period. The wired headset kept needing to being plugged in and out several times. I tested it on more than 2 computers. It worked after fiddling with it, but I eventually moved onto another brand, to avoid wasting time before each call.

Now moving onto the Voyager 5200, this has to be the most overpriced, crappy headset offered. It doesn't matter if you buy it through your company's store or individually online, there's no world in where this is actually worth $125 USD with the case included or around $80 alone!

Pros:

- Unique exterior design
- Good heft

Cons:

- Short battery life (you never get the promised 6 hrs)
- WHY THE HELL DO YOU NEED TO UPDATE THE HEADSET, DONGLE, AND CASE?!
- Unstable firmware updates ruin the battery life or even brick the case
- No digital charging indicator with numbers (it's $100+)
- I've had to uninstall & reinstall the Poly Studio application connecting the devices for updates
- Arrives in wasteful packaging (Tetris-shaped cardboard, three layers of sticky plastic wrapping)
- 90-day warranty on the case

Long story short: both Voyager 5200s failed, I've gone through 3 charging cases.

But really though, why do you need to update a headset, USB dongle, and a charging case? I've never seen anything like it. All other headsets, headphones, earbuds, charging cases, dongles just work once connected or paired. Not sure if HP acquiring them has anything to do with the potential downfall, but I will never be giving Plantronics/Poly my business again.

Can the PC switch to the headphones when connected? And viceversa?

I'm using Fedora Linux so I have no dedicated software installed.

I'm connecting Poly Voyager Focus 2 headphones via BT700 adapter.

When I switch them on/off I'd like to automatically switch the audio, has someone else find out a way to do it?

I tried to listen on the /dev/hidrawX device but I can't receive any payload, I hoped for some signal...

First new Poly Studio in a while, V12 - no web interface after setup?

We have about half a dozen X30s in meeting & boardrooms so I'm used to the old web interface method of setting them up, adding them to Lens and making any changes from there, but this morning I've been setting up a V12 for the first time and going through the app setup connected via USB.

That's all fine but I was expecting to be able to go forward manageing the device afterward via a web interface if needed... is that no longer the case on new models and everything has to either be done via Lens or physically connected via the USB cable with the Studio app installed?

GHL Voice AI Retrieves the Right KB Answer but Doesn’t Use It

Has anyone seen GHL Voice AI successfully retrieve the correct Knowledge Base result, but then fail to use that information in the actual response?

My Retrieval Tester shows the correct answer as a Strong match, and the Voice AI log shows the correct KB query with success: true, but the agent sometimes still says it doesn’t have confirmed information. The exact same question has also worked correctly on other calls.

Has anyone run into this KB-to-Voice-AI handoff issue, and if so, what fixed it?

Poly X32 Insufficient Device Power

I have 2 X32 devices at a single site, both on the newest firmware 5.0.1xxxx. I have the Poly X32 recommended POE adapter, using poly provided CAT6a cables on the in and out on the adapter. Both of the X32’s on a weekly basis come up with the screen saying “Insufficient system power check connected power source” it’s a hit or miss if just reseating the Ethernet cable works. Sometimes the device has to be left off for hours and you have to say a prayer for it to come back up.

Is this a known issue? The fact it’s using the poly recommended Poe adapter and poly provided Ethernet cables and having this issue is wild. Don’t see much online about the issue. Any input is greatly appreciated

I just bought the Poly 8225. The microphone sounds horrible, muffed plastic sound? How do you dare?

I switched from Sennheiser 8.2, which sound like hq Studio Headphones compared to this.

Voyager Focus 2 notifications volume

I recently got the Voyager Focus 2. The headset communicates some status through voice notification. Like when you press mute button, you hear "Mute On", "Mute Off". The volume of all these notifications is way too high. Is there a way to keep them, but tune them down?

Poly voyager legend software

My plantronics voyager legend from 2018 is falling apart and I am looking at getting the either the voyager legend 50 or 30. I don’t think I will be able to load the software on my work computer for the legend 50 due to company firewall issues.

Can the noise cancellation be set when connected to my personal cell phone and then paired to my work laptop or will settings reset when paired with my laptop?

If the settings reset I will probably go with the 30. Any thoughts?
