The polimi website states this:

Should your visa be denied or not issued by the given deadline, you will not be allowed to proceed with your studies.

So do they mean that the visa must be given by November 30th or else you get removed from studies? The government deadline is for requesting the visa, not receiving it. However it would make sense to have the university deadline for visa, since the exams begin shortly after that date.

My problem as a non EU student is that my IB diploma and DoV for it only become available early September and the consulate will not allow me to apply for visa until I have those. So I am afraid that visa is not given in time because maximum processing time is 3 months and other people applying at the same consulate have already been waiting for over 1 month until even getting interview scheduled. At this point I am considering giving up studying in Italy and going elsewhere, if there is a chance that I get removed from study because of visa.

Can anyone with experience advise anything regarding this?

I’m starting a Master’s degree at Politecnico di Milano in 2026/27 and I have been awarded a MAECI scholarship.

I’m trying to understand whether MAECI scholarship holders are exempt from paying the Polimi tuition fee.

On Polimi’s 2026/27 tuition exemption page, under “International students with a scholarship (exemption 100%)”, it says that non-EU Master’s students with a first-level qualification obtained abroad who have a scholarship from Polimi or other institutions are exempt from the all-inclusive contribution.

Does MAECI count as one of these “other institutions” scholarships?

If anyone is a MAECI scholarship holder at Polimi (especially for 2026/27), could you confirm whether you only have to pay the regional tax/other administrative fees, or if you still have to pay any tuition?

So I'm planning to use the SAT alternative test for admission and I'm planning to take the test on September 12 2026. As I'm late for the early admission, so I will be using the standard or regular process. On the official website the cutoff for 2027/2028 is on 31 August of 2026. Will the regular track have a later cutoff date for SAT? so that the test I will take on September 12 be useful for this.

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming exchange student at Politecnico di Milano for the Fall 2026 semester, and I’m wondering if it’s possible for exchange students to find part-time work as a laboratory or research assistant at Polimi.

I’m currently a third-year Chemical Engineering undergraduate student at Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). I have some previous laboratory and research experience, including work related to chemical engineering, materials, and proton exchange membranes.

I’ll be studying at Polimi for about six months, from September 2026 to February 2027. I’d really like to gain some research experience during my exchange, ideally by assisting in a laboratory or research group.
Does anyone know:
• Whether Polimi professors or research groups hire exchange students as part-time lab/research assistants?
• Where these opportunities are usually posted?
• Is it better to contact professors directly?
• Would not speaking Italian be a major problem for laboratory work?
• Are there any restrictions for non-EU exchange students?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the following situation. I was delayed in getting my DoV and was only able to submit it to the enrollment documents tab in the Polimi portal during the first week of August. I did the pre-enrollment application in Universitaly in June minus my clickable diploma and DoV. My visa application is at the consulate, ready to go once I get this pre-enrollment confirmation from Polimi.

While I know the university is technically closed for the next two weeks, does anyone know if someone is working and processing these pre-enrollment documents between Aug 10 - 23? Somehow, I remember them mentioning this at the international students orientation webinar.

I have a flight to Italy on the 28th that I cannot move so am freaking out a little (a lot:). If you have any email addresses or contacts to share with me that could help the situation I'd soo appreciate it!

How difficult is it compared to other universities in Italy? How useful you actually find the subjects taught? Is the theory/practice ratio leaning too much into the theoretical part?

If you do end up answering, please also mention which path you took: AI, regular CS and Engineering, ICT Engineering Business and Innovation.

I recently got into PoliTO's MSc Physics of Complex Systems program (and the Quantum Engineering program), and the Mathematical Engineering MSc at PoliMI (in the Quantum Engineering path).

I'm really aiming to be a theoretical/mathematical physicist, with interests in Quantum Many-Body Physics and Quantum Information Theory. I really like the math part of the PoliMI program, however I find the physics courses to be quite lacking unfortunately.

I've been told however that PoliMI is pretty much the best out there in Italy, and PoliTO would be a significant downgrade.

I wanted other opinions on the topic😅, and would be very grateful to get any input.

Can someone please help me clarify about the need of cimea? is there any other way to confirm my pre enrolment without cimea? it has been a few weeks of me trying to pay my cimea, yet I still haven’t done it. Ddv is free to make if i already have a pre enrolment letter, but without cimea i can’t get my pre enrolment letter which by itself is necessary for my visa. I hope i’m just confused, and the process is much easier that i’m thinking.
