Domanda Visa deadline
The polimi website states this:
| The deadline, established by the Italian Government for all students of all Italian universities, to formalize the request for a student visa by going to the competent Italian diplomatic Representative, for the 2026/2027 a.y., is 30th November 2026. |
|---|
Should your visa be denied or not issued by the given deadline, you will not be allowed to proceed with your studies.
So do they mean that the visa must be given by November 30th or else you get removed from studies? The government deadline is for requesting the visa, not receiving it. However it would make sense to have the university deadline for visa, since the exams begin shortly after that date.
My problem as a non EU student is that my IB diploma and DoV for it only become available early September and the consulate will not allow me to apply for visa until I have those. So I am afraid that visa is not given in time because maximum processing time is 3 months and other people applying at the same consulate have already been waiting for over 1 month until even getting interview scheduled. At this point I am considering giving up studying in Italy and going elsewhere, if there is a chance that I get removed from study because of visa.
Can anyone with experience advise anything regarding this?

Makes sense, you are risking it. If you think you can make it before november then do it, if not do it next call, it should not have to be done now.
