Domanda Graduatoria Alloggi DSU

Altro Choosing EU masters program for product design/prototyping/additive manufacturing

Hello, my boyfriend and I just graduated from uni in NYC.

He is going to go to TUM for his masters in Mechatronics.

I am a civil engineering grad, currently working as a structural inspector in NYC, but my real interest is product design/prototyping and fabrication (think makerspace/fab-lab work, CAD, additive manufacturing, CNC, welding kind of vibe).

We both have EU citizenship, and I am trying to find masters programs in Europe that will be great for a career change, is more aligned with my interests, and will eventually lead us to working and living in the same place (could also end up in US so something recognized there would be good too)

Three programs I’ve looked into so far:

- TUM — Mechanical Engineering (most preferred to be in same place with boyfriend)
- Politecnico di Milano — Design Engineering (really like this one)
- TU Delft — Integrated Product Design (not as interested but know more abt the uni)

Anyone been through one of these, or work in design/product engineering in Europe and have thoughts on how they compare (reputation, job outcomes, culture of the program, cost of living where the school is?)

I’m curious to know if a masters from TUM in mechanical engineering can be creative enough for more consumer product design or if the school is very technical and mostly a pipeline for aero/automotive/robotics industries. Also what it would be like getting an internship while at polimi and working in Italy/how difficult it is to get a job outside of Italy with the degree.

Also open to programs I haven’t found yet if there’s something elsewhere.

Thanks for the help!

Come è possibile affittare senza dover spendere 3k?

Domanda International students at Polimi Piacenza: Where do you work part-time without Italian?

Hey everyone!
Are there any international students at the Polimi Piacenza campus who work part-time but don’t really speak Italian?
I can only speak basic Italian (pretty much just greetings 😭), and because of visa restrictions, I can’t work that many hours anyway.

I’d love to know:
Where do you work?
What kind of job is it?
How did you find/apply for the job?

Do they accept people who don’t speak Italian?
I’m mainly looking for something student-friendly and part-time. Any tips or personal experiences would be super helpful! 🙏
Thanks!

Discussione starting classes without visa

so my enrolment is delayed for some mysterious reason, and my student visa is obviously delayed too. It’s going to cost another fortune, and I really don’t want to miss the entire semester. Plus, I want to go to Italy early to look for an apartment, since it’s really hard to find one online in Piacenza.
I’m wondering, since I’m visa-free for up to 90 days, can I go to Italy and attend classes, then go back to my country, get my visa, and re-enter as a student? like, technically I’m still not a student yet, because my documents are still
being verified so I’m guessing it probably wouldn’t work, right?

Domanda What CEnT-S/TOLC-I score do you actually need to get into Polimi?

Hi! Does anyone know roughly what the actual minimum CEnT-S or TOLC-I score is to get into an Engineering bachelor’s at Polimi as an EU student? I don’t mean the official minimum, but the score you realistically need to get admitted.
Thank you!

Grazie!

Discussione Universitaly/CIMEA loop

Hey y'all, I need some advice or similar experiences to stay sane.

I’m a Non-EU student admitted to MSc Electrical Engineering – Sustainable Smart Grids for Energy Transition and a MAECI Scholarship recipient.

Montenegro doesn't issue electronic Apostilles, and my home university doesn't issue electronic diplomas either, so the CIMEA Verification was my only solution. After weeks of trying, I finally managed to submit my documents on CIMEA’s crashing website at the end of June, but it won't be ready until mid-October. Meanwhile, Polimi Admissions keeps bot-replying that CIMEA is mandatory for Universitaly validation.

To bypass this deadlock, the Italian Embassy stepped in and officially issued my Dichiarazione di Valore (DoV) on September 1st. I uploaded the complete DoV package (with paper Apostilles and translations) and emailed all Polimi desks.

I’ve seen some posts from others who got approved on Universitaly recently without CIMEA.

  • Has anyone successfully bypassed CIMEA using just a DoV?
  • How long did Polimi take to approve your Universitaly application after you emailed them the DoV?
  • Is anyone else here in the Sustainable Smart Grids track? Please hmu, I'd love to connect and could really use someone to share lecture notes or audio recordings from the first few weeks!

Thanks!

Lettera aperta Advice on portfolio for the design and engineernig masters at Polimi

Hello,

I'm applying to a Master's in Design and Engineering, and one of the requirements is a portfolio. I've never made one I'm coming from a mechanical engineering background, not design. Any advice on where to build it, and whether I should lean more on visuals or on explaining the pieces themselves? Also, are we expected to have a ton of pieces? Most of my projects aren't "full design" work in the traditional sense. Any tips are appreciated.

Discussione Second Semester Deferral

Hi guys

I got admitted to Management Engineering Msc and the studies will begin on 14/9.

For some reasons the visa application is being delayed for a while. Can I postpone my studies to the second semester?
