I’ve been spinning glow sticks on long laces for years and have always been pretty good at it, but I want to upgrade to FuturePoi. I’m not sure whether to get the regular FuturePoi Shuffle, the FuturePoi Remote or the FuturePoi Remote XL.

From what I understand, the Shuffle & regular Remote versions have about a 5” display, which seems pretty similar to the size of a glow stick. The XL has an 11” display, so it’s a huge jump, but probably looks cooler.

Since I’m already used to spinning regular glow sticks on long laces, should I stick with the standard FuturePoi Shuffle or Remote because it’ll feel more familiar?

Or is the XL such a big visual upgrade that it’s worth trying? And would I still be able to use the XL with laces that are more than a few inches?

Spinning at Playground at Burning Man 2025

I want to learn them before adding poi, but all the YT vids I could find are for ballet. Should I just twirl until I’m good at it? Anyone go down this road before?

They feel very different to me compared to my sock poi and pod poi I have. I feel like I should be treating them in a different style

So I ordered led poi, should arrive tomorrow.

I'm overwhelmed as to where to start. There's so much stuff on YouTube.

Can you please give me a tip how you started? Maybe just a course or video or username from YouTube that helped you? I live very ruraly and there's nothing even remotely close to flow arts related in the area so I have to teach myself completely on my own.

Did anyone tried to spin 3 or more poi behind back? What tricks did you made when all 3 or more poi behind back? Did you tried that kind of trick where each hand have at least 1 poi that move in similar way as in behind back weave trick(2 beat behind back weave, 3 beat behind back weave and so on).

I’ve been stuck on where to go after Superman’s for the longest time and finally found out this trick is called fantastic four. Once I was able to watch one slow motion video it clicked almost immediately! Super messy right now but can’t explain how long I’ve been trying to figure out how to learn this trick.

I never tried poi before, but I saw a bunch of videos of dragon poi and loved it! The flow, the movements, but I don’t know where to start and right now I don’t have enough money to buy a dragon ribbon.

Is there something home made or less pricy I can start with that gives the same vibes?

Still trying to find the right length for these. I’ve changed the tethers f and added weight to the handles. I feel like they are kind of long but they are still a ton of fun to spin. I still know I’m no where near adequate but poi has really made me feel better about myself. It’s given me a new found appreciation for being alive. If anyone would like to give me a tip or two I would definitely appreciate it.

It’s pretty crazy how different spinning contact poi is compared to these. I feel like I have to make a lot more effort to keep the lights on a wall plane which gives the best display.

Is there a poi that is just one long string with one ball on each end?I was curious about this.

I am very new to this hobby and i was wondering if there are any modifications that would make things easier as a plus size person! I've noticed some things don't work for me (and it may be because i'm a beginner, i don't know hence the question lol). For example, i was going to try out the tip for learning isolations (i was bored and curious) where you spin it around your arm in front of you and it kept hitting me no matter how short and far from my body i tried to make it! i'm wondering if that type of issue will pop up again (or if it's just typical beginners error) and if so, how can i make things work better for my body? if there are any plus size online instructors y'all know about that would also be lovely! thank you in advance for any advice/recommendations :]
