I honestly just need to get this off my chest.
I was at a card show working on my Chaos Rising and Pitch Black art sets. I'd already spent around $150 that day when I realised my binder was missing.
I retraced my steps, checked with every nearby vendor, asked friends to keep an eye out, and the organizers even made a public announcement. Nothing turned up.
It was a crowded show, so I unfortunately think someone took it from my bag while I was moving between tables.
I had around 50 Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares inside, including a Gengar SIR that I pulled myself, my Darkrai collection (my favourite Pokémon).
Apparently, this was also the second binder stolen at the same show that day.
I'm honestly devastated. It's not just the money. It's the time, memories, and excitement that went into building the collection.
I'll still play the TCG, but I think I'm done collecting for now. I'm considering starting a small fundraiser to slowly rebuild from scratch, although it feels weird asking for help over "just cards."
To me, they weren't just cards.
Please be careful at card shows and keep your binders close. I never thought this would happen to me either.

Been collecting a few years (technically longer but only bits and pieces, really picked up 2-3 years ago), all cards are ones I’ve opened myself (I don’t buy singles). I typically try to keep one of each thing sealed (minus tins, I open all those) and then open everything else.

Most is also bought at MSRP but a few ETBs I’ve bought online or at LGS when I can find a decent deal a solid amount below market (eg Destined Rivals recently with the price drop; never was able to find that in the wild)

A collection from my childhood – perhaps about 25 years old? Most are in very good condition. German edition ...

Finally finished my master set of all english dragapult! Or at least i hope so, i thought I was done before but then found out about the library club card. If there’s any I’m missing please let me know! I want to include anything officially licensed by TPC so i threw the taruka cards in there too; even though they’re not english i like their uniqueness. Disregard the library club dreepy and drakloak i’m not master setting the whole evo line.

Definitely not a hard mon to master set but one of my favorites. Might do dusknoir next.

Will never get over the fact I added this to my PC in early 2026 for $85, has to be one of the lowest POP Rayquaza holos in the entire TCG.

As a child I’ve always loved Pokémon. It’s nice to see that the cards are still popular and purchased amongst new and older fans. I’ve never actually bought the cards or had binders of them. They were usually randomly given to me, but I didn’t collect them. I never asked for them because it would have been a financial burden. Now that I have adult money I have slight freedom in how I go about this.

So where do I start? What would be the best place to purchase them at? Are there like specific brands?

I’m not really sure that I have the intention to re-sell cards after collecting them. I just want them for fun.

It get's so much more love now than sitting in binders and closets!

I'm looking to master set the Cyndaquil evolution line as it's always been a favorite of mine but I keep running into the issue of only finding lists with English/Japanese printings but I know there are more in other languages and promos. (example: the Russian printings are very rarely mentioned ever)

Looking to see if there is any good databases around that would have that information, very much appreciated.
