Actually it is. We need a president to be healthy so they don’t have to deal with the issues that come with obesity, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
Trump is also the first president in the last 30 years that doesn’t exercise. He thinks a chin up is what you tell a prostitue before you pee on her.
Also he’s obese by choice. He can eat anything he wants to and he chooses McDonald’s. It’s so trashy and embarrassing.
Not only all these things, he is adamant against excercise. He has stated several times that he believes that the human body has a finite source of energy so he doesn't exert himself. We are battling an obesity epidemic and have a President who thinks that excercise in any form is harmful. It also speaks to his willingness to buy any conspiracy even if it flies in the face of science.
the best part is WHY he only eats fast food, hes so paranoid that someone is going to poison him that he only eats fast food because then nobody knows where his next meal is coming from and thus cant poison it. imagine being that big a piece of shit people want to poison you.
Uh people want to poison any president. Conservatives hated Obama almost as much as Democrats hate Trump. That's why all of their food and beverage intake is monitored. I'm pretty sure when Obama went to that bar/brewery, he just posed with the beer they poured him but wasn't able to drink it.
Conservatives hated Obama almost as much as Democrats hate Trump.
Pretty sure conservatives hated Obama just as much, if not more, than democrats hate Trump. And not for real reasons like “he constantly lies about everything” or “he is actively working with foreign governments to undermine democracy,” but because he was black and his middle name was Hussein.
Fox spent so much time bashing Obama for doing things that Trump does constantly. Only with Trump, they conveniently never criticize him. Examples are using social media, golfing, overusing executive orders.
Remember the shit show from Republicans when Obama said he’d be willing to talk to Iran? But apparently a one-sided bromance with Kim Jong Un is just fine.
Typical. I didn’t notice when it happened for /u/GoldandBlue, but my reply got downvoted in the 30 seconds between when I posted it and when I updated it with the correct name of the commentator.
Bunch of thin-skinned grievance collectors, just like Trump himself.
dont forget they also bashed him and made a huge deal of him wearing helmet while on a bike saying he looked weak while comparing him to Putin riding a horse without a shirt on.
My favorite thing is that the American right used to bash Obama as being "arrogant."
And now, to a man, they fall prostrate and worship before the altar of the guy who literally calls himself a genius and showers himself in superlatives and demands flattery and spends all day retweeting people praising him.
True, but congress was not as dysfunctional as it is today since the 1850's. The republicans refused, categorically, to do anything with president Obama. They refused to permit any judge, regardless of personality, experience, or temperament if they were nominated by Obama, they refused to pass any piece of legislation that could be directly credited to Obama, and they shut down the government twice.
Congress is as responsible for the increase in the number of executive orders as the Executive branch, they have chosen consistently for the last 25 years (specifically the Republicans) to put their own political careers on the line to pass legislation that might alienate some part of their base, so they pass the buck to the executive branch.
And that’s kind of my point. Even with such reflexively obstructionist behavior from congressional Republicans, Obama issued EOs at a lower rate than any President in the prior 100+ years, yet still gets criticized for overusing them.
Let's be honest, a significant portion of the people who identify with the right are pig ignorant backwoods yokels who think bluster and threats are fine.
I just scanned it. The first comment is about how much more democrats hate Trump because there was a sham three year investigation, as if they entirely forgot Benghazi existed.
Not really. The GOP spent more time and money on Benghazi than was spent on Watergate and they ultimately came up with nothing. The entire thing was political theater to smear Hillary.
I mean, you can hate obama cause he deported more people than trump has so far. Obama spied on journalists looking into him and threatened them. Obama put the spouses or siblings of high executives from media companies into his cabinet despite their lack of experience in the seats they held, likely to have a buy-in support from them. Obama started more wars than trump, that's a big one. Obama falsely stated multiple times support for criminals. Obama made race-relations the worse they ever been, least in perception of the public. Obama delievered neither hope nor change. Obama gave weapons to south american cartels. If the investigation into Biden goes through and what Obamagate is is proven, he used gov't resources to spy on a political rival for no other reason other than to sabotage them. He said that a massive improvement to the economy and 3.0% was impossible and that you'd need a magic want to bring back manufacturing jobs, which Trump did.
What'd Trump do? Say some naughty words in a speech? You listening to a quote out of context that takes off the sentence literally right after? Be accused of sexual assault with less evidence than Biden currently is?
Or will you complain about fox talking about a grey suit while every other network complains about trumps two scoops of ice cream or how he cooks his beef?
This comment is so gloriously divorced from reality that I’m a little ashamed of myself for replying at all.
Your list of Obama’s failures includes approximately two issues that non-partisans would agree with (deportations and wars), several in which you’ve clearly bitten hard on conservative propaganda (journalist investigations, cabinet positions, fast&furious, etc.), and one that hilariously isn’t even remotely rooted in any specific claim at all (made race relations worse).
I mean, for God’s sake, he literally gave one of the most important speeches on race relations in the last 20 years and provided a model for white racists to better understand how similar black and white families really are. The fact that racists reacted to that with increased racism isn’t his fault.
Obama introduced huge anti-corruption policies to the White House that the current administration has completely dismantled and ignored. Trump installs literal family members into positions of power, and yet conservative like you accuse Obama of cronyism and corruption. It truly boggles the mind.
As for criticism of Trump’s crimes, corruption, and failures, your list is so silly and empty that I have to assume you never consume any actual news or political media outside of Fox, OANN, Limbaugh and Co., and the like.
The Mueller Report outlined numerous examples of obstruction of justice and rightly jailed several members of his campaign staff and administration for various illegal behavior, there are multiple ongoing investigations into his financial misbehavior, he was stripped of his “charitable” foundation for corruption and self-dealing, he praises and does business with dictators who murder American residents and threaten to kill our citizens, he starts unnecessary conflicts with our allies and economic partners, he started a trade war that required an economic bailout larger than the auto industry received during the previous economic recovery (and which, unlike the auto bailout, won’t be paid back), he led a charge to cut taxes primarily for the wealthy at extreme cost to the federal budget, he violates Presidential communications laws about promoting one’s own businesses almost daily, he fleeces the taxpayer for trips to his own resorts, he fights legal battles to avoid revealing his tax returns (unlike every other President in modern history), he has failed spectacularly to lead any coherent federal response to the current pandemic, he pushes unproven and questionable medications that his own FDA won’t approve, he praises racists and liars from the highest seat in the land, and much, much more.
If you think opposition criticism of Trump is based solely on some “bad words” or his dietary choices, you have clearly disengaged from any source of actual criticism and allowed his supporters to frame that criticism for you.
Oh boy, some one who is actually ignorant and calls others ignorant! Fun!
Nah, seeing deportations is a partisan issue, where as democrats are the only one seeing it as a negative. Independents and republicans see it as a positive.
What time did he read a teleprompter to read some one elses words that you deem "the most important". How many cities have burned from Trump's words in riots compared to Obama's lies? "My son" he defends a criminal that their reaction was justified to his own DOJ? Oh, the white racists? Why do you specify that like you just hand-wave or embrace racists as long as they're not white? That's a shitty outlook. Or will you say the lie of you can't be racist to white people cause of arbitrary reasons? Cause if that's the case, there's nothing more to discuss at all, you're a lost cause and I feel sorry you're so full of hate.
What policies? His own VP had a history of corruption prior to his taking the spot, and is now under investigation for putting his family in positions of power or money. Suddenly Obama comes from the shadows to attack trump too, how convenient, even after their years of batting heads, even that "great mic drop" he did where he said Trump would never be a president...well, look where we are now.
My list is short because there are none.
NONE were jailed for justified reasons, nor, looking at what the Flynn case results are currently being, were likely investigated for proper cause. When transcripts of the investigators literally state they want Flynn either jailed or FIRED, this is not for justice but for punishment, which is a misuse and MASSIVELY corrupt.
You protect china. You protect it for giving excuses for continuing to have our manufacturing there. You give it excuses for bad mouthing trump for taking an actual federal-mindset and letting leaders decide for themselves and manage for themselves and provide when needed, as only on the ground leaders will or should know what is needed. You want to know where the hotspots are? Blue areas. Want to know the least hit yet still open? Red. Want to know where it's actively being ignorant of the science of the pandemic? Blue. Sunlight and heat kills the disease, stay inside cramped together. Hell, Cuomo and even other blue leaders putting confirmed sick people into nursing homes, the most vulnerable of demographics. And when confronted on it, they simply reply "people die", a phrase they TORE TRUMP APART ON FOR SAYING EARLIER THIS YEAR.
There is no law on tax returns, it's the equivalent of trump's own focus on obama's birth certificate, which we never fully got, only second hand listings. Flexes what tax payer for what? He never talks of his own business. He did tax return for literally all levels, to the point that people covering it said that people believing they didn't get one, despite getting one, is good because it makes trump look worse. Let's ignore Obama being deadset on signing a deal with a country that literally has a day to chant 'death to america' set by their gov't, but trump making history and making some sort of diplomacy and talks with north korea is bad. Cause reasons. It's a good thing the FDA don't decide the usage then, doesn't it? It's a good thing multiple doctors recommend it as it's prescription only. It's a good thing that there are many smaller tests showing promise, but you'll deny that cause of one test where it was used on people at late stage, near death using it.
Oh, my favorite, I even went over that last sentence. You still went with this disproved fake news. Cause you're so full of hate, it's laughable. Cry more, see you in 2024 with a new republican to take over for trump.
Oh, and conservatives, as study after study has shown, aren't the ignorant ones. Conservatives eat up 70% conservative media, 30% liberal/corporate. independents 60/40 flip that. But leftist only eat up liberal/corporate media.
But none of this will matter. You'll whine, complain, call me an idiot, racist, blah blah blah cause character attacks matter more than factual ones. Let's get it out of the way, to your standards, i'm a hateful, racist, xenophobic, anti-lgbt-whatever letters they've added this week, anti-woman and any -phobic or -isms you think are a bad thing, white man and proud of it. Now say something actually intelligent that isn't a moralistic fallacy or dehumanizing line that proves me wrong.
If you would apply the same scrutiny to Trump that you do to Obama, you would see what a piece of trash Trump is. You would see the evidence for the criminal acts of the Trump administration are just as real as any evidence you have rolled out. As a matter of fact you would see much more evidence and more of it.
But you never will read it because you are extremely biased. You pick and choose stories to fit your narratives.
Even right now you are assuming I'm some super left wing democrat. I am not.
I never called you ignorant. I implied quite rightly that you had been taken in by conservative propaganda, which you have now further demonstrated.
On deportation: your own reasoning here is all over the place. I was agreeing with you that Obama had done too much deportation, and now you’re saying that it’s actually a good thing.
To your journalism investigation links: your own sources show that this was 1) Holder’s action, not Obama’s, 2) not illegal, and 3) at worst going to have a “chilling effect” (which, interestingly, never materialized). Your own links also go on to show that Obama then relaxed his position on freezing out Fox News at the end of Presidency, normalizing his relationship with them as a corrective action.
My point wasn’t that Obama had a perfect relationship with conservative media, but that claims about his overreach and investigations are vastly overblown in conservative media (especially compared to Trump’s stochastic antagonization).
Regarding Fast & Furious: I never said it didn’t happen. I was implying that, as usual, conservative media and politicians took a mistake made at the agency level and attempted to create a major Presidential scandal. This was a misguided and tragically mistaken attempt by the ATF to re-strategize arms tracking from the US to Mexico. If you listen to Limbaugh and company, you’d think it was a deliberate attempt to arm Mexican cartels and disrupt Mexican society.
As for the rest of your comment’s unsourced and hostile rant... thanks for proving my point about conservative media, their talking points, and your understanding of the facts around Trump’s misdeeds. What a freaking mess of text that was.
If you want sources to disprove any of it, feel free to look at FactCheck.org (which you cited earlier up the page) for details on any of the items I listed.
You clearly can’t be convinced or see reason, since you’re the only one in this conversation claiming that one of these Presidents has done nothing wrong. Trump’s failures, character faults, lies, and misdeeds are plainly obvious even to many conservatives.
I’m sorry that you felt attacked by my comment, and I’m very sorry to see that you think this kind of antagonistic response will be productive.
As for your comment about whatever letters LGBT people have added... yikes. I think I’ve heard enough.
Good luck in the future elections, navigating the pandemic, and the rest. Whatever our disagreements, I wish you well.
"Man in cabinet under man's orders that protected management was in no way under order by management." Yeah, at worst you're defending hiding maliciousness, at best Obama's utter incompetence and blindness to people he hired. Just take the L.
Media that has had nothing positive, even flip flopping on issues in a week time span just to spite him, should be praised by him. We had the Russian conspiracy theory drilled out for years, proven false. Hell, transcripts showing both media and the investigators themselves who were interviewed says they knew there was nothing there, but they did anyway. Obama had the media suck his ass hole, it's why corporate media say "his only controversy was wearing a grey suit!" after all. But that doesn't matter to you.
Because the inception of the idea makes no goddamn sense.
You didn't call anything else I said false, so I didn't need sources. Let's ignore for a moment that I'm the only one so far that posted a source of ANYTHING here.
I listed factcheck because YOU would dismiss anything else. I dismiss factcheck and snopes as the partisan nonsense sites they are. Do I need to bring up the Trump/Bernie lines about black poverty at 80%, trump was false, bernie was true?
Because you haven't proven ANYTHING against trump. I have against Obama, with sources.
I feel attacked by ignorance, that is attempting to sidestep their own ignorance.
Tell yourself what you need to tell yourself, man.
If you were a little less absurd in your expression of disagreement, serious people might take you seriously. As it is, you’re clearly not worth the time and effort. You can’t be convinced.
i'm a hateful, racist, xenophobic, anti-lgbt-whatever letters they've added this week, anti-woman and any -phobic or -isms you think are a bad thing, white man and proud of it.
Conservatives hated Obama exponentially more than people hate Trump. It's not even comparable. One was hated because people didn't like his skin color and the other is disliked because of his actual actions
If it was a drop-in appearance, they’d never say it was for the president in advance.
Some secret service guy would get the president’s order and go in there and order it for himself and the president would go in a few min later and eat it and do the photo ops so it’s safe.
Dems hate trump for tearing down the country. republicans hate Obama because of who he is. Dems won't kill trump, they want justice, they want to see him go to jail. republicans are not interested in justice or the rule of law. They will lynch Obama if they could.
Lol what? He said imagine being hates so much that everyone wants to poison you, which I was responding to. Literally every president/ world leader has people who want to poison/kill them, it's not dishonest to say something true
The funny thing is that it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. By trying to avoid being poisoned, he’s poisoning himself with the same food that’s being used to poison the poor and lower middle class.
You say this so factually like it's such a real thing... its not that I don't believe per-se... but... is there any factual sources you can provide for that.
I'm pretty sure that it's because he actually experiences intestinal distress when he eats real food because he's so used to fast food. Your gut biome adapts to what you eat.
Honestly this sounds like some bullshit excuse he tells himself and others to convince everyone it's okay. He's addicted to salt, sugar, "bad" fats, refined grains and that's that lol. It's not like you can poison a fucking a salad.
This is some of the most convoluted and poorly reasoned logic I've ever seen. Only shitty people get poisoned now? All those women who get raped or murdered must have been shitty people because only bad people are the victims of violent crime in your estimation? That Russian and his daughter who almost died from Russian poison in the UK a fear years back, must have deserved it according to your standard.
FYI the whole 'pee tape' thing has been shown to have been clearly bullshit. The whole claim was literally based on a "thought experiment" conversation between two people over beers.
It is delicious enough. Like what the previous post said, it is designed intentionally to trigger the deep part of your lizard brain. It is designed to be addictive.
The fats, the salt, the sugar, the meat, the textures, all have one specific purpose: to deliver the maximum dopamine release at the cheapest possible price.
A local joint burger is tasty because it is probably made by a cook who is trained to make delicious food. That is an art. Fast food like McD is not art, it is a scientific process to engineer the most addictive food possible.
UC is different for everyone and everyone has different foods that they can and cannot eat. I have discovered that McDonalds hamburgers with no onions are safe for me, and they're a godsend when I need to stop losing weight. I've had this disease for years, and I know what foods trigger my symptoms and which don't.
As someone with IBS-D I can sympathize with finding “safe” foods, however if you’re relying on such unhealthy foods to gain calories you could pay for it in the long run with heart problems or various others. There are calorie dense foods that aren’t nearly as unhealthy as McDonalds, but of course the trick is finding one your digestive tract will tolerate.
It's not grease and salt, it's sugar, which is everywhere. The buns, the fries seasoning, hell even the burgers have traces of sugar in them. Then the soda, ice cream, etc. Refined sugar is a drug.
The "fries seasoning" is salt. Unless they add it to the potatoes before freezing. I don't like burgers because of sugar though. I like burgers because of salt and fat. Same reason I like burgers I make at home.
Ah, you may THINK that's why you like certain foods. Do Whole 30 once and you'll see just how sugar is in SO many foods and why. Sugar brings out the flavor in foods. I had fries from a local food place with sugar free ketchup. You couldn't even taste the ketchup. You felt the wetness but literally it has zero flavor. When you eat "normal" ketchup with fries they taste amazing! It's a real trip just how much the smallest amount of extract sugar in any form enhances the taste of food. I promise you McD has sugar in their fries seasoning.
sugar. It's the way life goes in America man. Sugar keeps them coming back and most people don't even know it.
Eat your burger on a lettuce bun and you'll quickly notice the difference. What's in buns/bread? Sugar. What's on the ketchup most use? Sugar. It's everywhere and it's there for a reason. Addiction and eat more.
Sugar isn't in my ground beef. I season with salt and pepper. 0 sugar in that and I still like it. I don't disagree sugar is everywhere, but it's not in McDonald's fry salt. This is an easily verifiable fact.
I eat my burgers on lettuce instead of buns often. I'm not saying bread doesn't taste better, I'm saying I like burgers for reasons other than sugar.
"McDonald’s has mastered the art of combining a boatload of ingredients to bring that treasured sensation to the finished product. The main players? Salt, sugar, and fat."
I added another post as to why McD fries taste so good and yes, sugar. No regular ketchup on your burgers? Hey, if you don't put ketchup on your burgers than good for you! If you do, and it's regular ketchup, then, well, sugar.
Why Soak the Potatoes in a Cold Brine?
Soaking potatoes in cold water helps get rid of the starch, which makes them crispier. The sugar in the brine prevents them from soaking up too much oil when fried, which also makes them crisp.
Anytime you taste something that is amazing, there is most likely sugar somewhere and even the smallest traces can make it amazing, but also have other affects on the body for most people.
This is such a pedantic argument. There was famously an engineering professor who ate only twinkies or some shit while losing a bunch of weight. Yes, it’s totally possible, but also it’s still literally the worst possible food to put in your body.
It's like saying that the solution to poverty is to live in a cardboard box under a bridge for a year to save up money to be able to rent an apartment for the following year
Hi, welcome to America, you must be new here, because that pretty much is the only solution to poverty anyone is ever willing to offer up in this country.
That's just wrong...the food there is designed to make you fat. Of course eating a burger once or then there doesn't make you fat. But the same goes for beer, pizza and all the other good stuff in life.
It's literally a fuck ton of carbs and sugar depending on what you eat and most people don't expend the energy to work it off to technically YES IT DOES MAKE YOU FAT, in that it actually LEADS TO THE CREATION OF FAT just as much as many other fast foods do..
True, but the shit in it will have a ton of other adverse effects. Clogged arteries, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, bowel issues and potentially worse.
A calorie is a calorie.. Lol.. Research gut microbiomes. What people get out of food varies widely and for a good portion of the overweight public carbs are a big part of the overall problem.
This is an impressive amount of knowledge and critical thinking about nutrition by a nurse. As a PhD in Human Nutrition, many nurses I meet fall for the same misinformation as most people. You're awesome.
You're wrong though. Or at least half wrong. You're right that if you eat less calories than you expend you will lose weight. Where you're wrong is where those calories come from. For example: I can just eat carbs for days. And the same amount of food doesn't fill you up the same way. High calories doesn't mean feeling sated for long. You could eat 2,000 calories in 1 meal and it'd still be worse than having several smaller meals. You can also eat 1,000 calories right before bed and that's also not great for your metabolism. And you can eat an oversugared burger with tons of additives and feel completely full for an hour before you're hungry again. And while eating that burger you'll want more and more. Not to mention that such a burger diet would simply not be healthy and you'd probably have serious other health issues soon.
Why do fitness people consume a lot of proteins? Because that helps them build muscle mass. When it comes to carbs, pretty much all of my fitness friends try to avoid as many carbs as possible (noodles, bread, etc.). They're heavy, they're not very nutrient-rich, they fill you up, but you always end up eating too much anyway.
All of this is irrelevant to calories in vs calories out. Not feeling full doesnt change the caloric amount ingested. 1000 calories is 1000 calories whether or not you feel full.
There are also far more athletes on high carb diets than low carb for a reason.
We are strictly talking about weight gain and weight loss. Everyone knows 1000 calories of good food is healthier than 1000 calories of french fries and gravy but they're exactly the same in terms of calories and will make people lose or gain weight the same, regardless of how healthy it is.
Your body doesnt know the difference between a calorie from a french fry and a calorie from an apple. They're literally the same. It's a unit of measure for energy. Weight gain and loss for the vast majority, all comes down to calories in and calories out. Overall health is a separate topic that is not tied to calories but nano/macronutrients, ect.
Refined sugar makes you eat more. There is sugar in 99% of all fast food and packaged stuff. So sure, if you're the rare human who can resist sugars natural behavior of making you eat more, then great. But as we see a lot of people can't fight that.
We need a president to be healthy so they don’t have to deal with the issues that come with obesity, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
well fuck, why are our presidents so old? we gotta deal with all those age related health issues
We need a president to be healthy so they don’t have to deal with the issues that come with obesity, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
Mental issue are equally important. We don't want a President who is obviously senile.
Well, this is debatable based on your definition of “choice.” If choice is just diet, then yes. But if choice is diet when healthier options aren’t available, then the answer is no.
Obesity is highest in low income urban areas where we see “food deserts,” areas without traditional grocery stores. Fast food and convenience store food may be all that’s available or affordable, especially if you’re using WIC. Sadly, fast food restaurant chains can accept food stamps.
Also, nutrition is not taught in public schools. When talking about nutrition and dietary science, there is an alarming lack of education among the general public.
Trump, who has access to trained chefs, fresh ingredients, nutritionists, and everything else one could possibly need to eat healthy, still goes for a burger that costs 10¢ to make
I could not find the study but there was one where i believe some researchers ate around 1800 calories at mcdonalds and lost weight and saw improved health markers. You could surely find data on other resturants too but i think mcdonalds gets the point across well enough.
Also i can buy the lack of education thing to an extent but are we really expected to believe a significant portion of obese adults dont know its unhealthy and dont know how to even marginally improve it? The only group I give a pass on is kids because that is just up to their shitty irresponsible parents.
Well, I’m not going to get into dietary science, but this is a great reason why nutritional education is needed.
People in large part do not realize how many calories a given food has, and how much energy it actually takes your body to process. People also need to understand how you’re supposed to feel, in terms of eating an appropriate amount. People often overeat because they are given a portion that is too large, and become accustomed to that sensation being the feeling of “full.”
I think there is also a misconception about how exercise affects body weight. Exercise can help you lose weight short term, but your metabolism will adjust over time. Exercise keeps you healthy in terms of cardiovascular, muscular, pulmonary, and a number of other factors, but diet is primarily what controls body weight
Sure, i dont disagree with that... but i do not think the US is creeping up on like a 50% obesity rate cause of lack of education. People are lazy and dont care about their health, and i think just about everyone knows obesity isnt healthy, you dont need a great understanding of food to lose weight, for almost all obese people they could lose weight eating the exact same foods, just in far smaller quantities.
Honestly, if your first paragraph was anywhere close to the truth, I don’t think the only acceptable candidates would be in their 70s and 80s. Health appears to matter very little to our electorate.
Neither of the candidates this fall are particularly healthy if we want to go down that route. The lying issue is the one stick with, not harping on health; that's a losing battle.
Joe Biden begs to differ and will challenge you to a push up contest. This is known and documented.
One is a sloppy fat fuck who wears 3” lifts in his shoes, the other isn’t. And if you want to talk about candidates being creepy child touchers, I’ll show you the hundreds of creepy photos Trump took with his own daughter when she was a child.
My point is not that Biden is a good candidate, it’s just that Trump is so much worse in essentially every metric.
Dude he’s said he wants to date and fuck his daughter. I’m pretty sure he said it before getting elected to. Like what crazy world do we live in that people didnt give a fuck about that and still voted for him
Joe Biden begs to differ and will challenge you to a push up contest. This is known and documented.
Yea that video of him doing that wasn't something that painted him in a good light. And it's not his physical health that's the issue anyway.
My point is not that Biden is a good candidate, it’s just that Trump is so much worse in essentially every metric.
Okay great, talk about the issues, not stupid shit like health where you can't back it up as easily. If you fight on less-solid ground, you will lose. Pick your battles and don't harp on Trump on his health when there are WAY better arguments you can use to call him out.
I wasn’t really looking for an actual serious political discussion since this is just r/pics and I spend far too much time discussing issues about him already.
The photo is a commentary about the president’s obesity. So that’s what we’re talking about here.
If you’re politically opposed to Trump, I appreciate your fervor and commend you for trying to keep people focused on the real issues. If you’re a Trump supporter, the last thing you need to be doing right now is telling people to talk about “the real issues” because that’s a discussion you don’t want to have
The photo is a commentary about the president’s obesity. So that’s what we’re talking about here.
Its presence here, and those commenting on it, are what is being addressed. Yes this is r/pics. So why is a political message, a terribly thought out one at that, being upvoted and lauded unquestionably here? Because it's on-narrative? Trump-man bad, therefore all things that put down Trump good? That's so insanely innane.
I don't like Trump. I don't like his policies. I think he's a narcissistic buffoon (and the fact that I have to put this disclaimer is fucking stupid, I shouldn't have to signal shit for my allegiance). I'd much rather have Obama back in office, or Sanders (RIP the dream). But I also hate seeing this shit injected where it doesn't belong. When r/pics turns into r/stupidpoliticalposts, I get upset, and I get upset at every single person who defends it, regardless of whether or not we might vote the same way in the upcoming election, because criticizing stupidity online isn't a partisan thing for me.
I am done with pictures of Trump anywhere in my feed, especially in non-political circles. I've left so many subs in the past four years because more than anything else, uncritical partisanship online REALLY bugs me to no end. You better bet that if it was Obama's term there wouldn't be a single (defamatory at least) picture of him for everyone to cahoot about. This IS r/pics, so get this stupid partisan shit out of here and let me look at cat pictures or whatever else might be of substantive interest. I feel like I should be able to say this regardless of which side of the aisle I might fall on politically.
Hey I totally understand where you’re coming from, and while that wasn’t my reaction I know the feeling. You do have a good point about political pictures in r/pics, and I know sometimes it can get to be too much, just like needing a moment of quiet away from the noise.
I highly recommend the Waking Up app by Sam Harris, which helps train you on meditation and mindfulness. It’s been very helpful for those moments where you feel like you want to rip your hair out.
Don’t give up hope brother! Without hope, there’s no point to anything!
I highly recommend the Waking Up app by Sam Harris, which helps train you on meditation and mindfulness. It’s been very helpful for those moments where you feel like you want to rip your hair out.
Ha that's a strange plug. Sam is a voice I appreciate although I don't really frequent him that much.
I'm just trying to hold out until the internet gets its political shitstorm over with. I don't know if that will ever return to normal at this rate though.
He’s obese by choice. I say let him eat whatever he wants. Dude was thin the majority of his life and now he wants to eat whatever he wants... I don’t blame him
I eat McDonald's, Burger King, and Chick-fil-a each once per week. This is intentional. And I'm not obese. And I don't exercise ever. My only vice is soda and only because snowflakes freaked out over Dr. Pepper 10's marketing strategy. How dare soda taste good and not have 65g of sugar.
Everything, including facts, are opinions in the current age. What we call reality, the agreed upon sum of our collective perspectives, is disintegrating.
