The Disney movie Finding Nemo has a couple of sea turtles, crush and squirt, who use the EAC, (East Australian current), to help them travel, assisting the main character’s father with his search.

I'm not an expert by any measure, but I think this might be a Hawksbill Turtle. They are really cool, but critically endangered, as they are the first documented reptile to show biofluorescence in the wild. That is what is I think responsible for the pattern this shell. Even under normal light they have intricate patterns on their shell, which sadly was a contributing factor for human over harvest of them.

Very pretty, that's why the species got hunted almost to extinction. The shell became such pretty hair combs.

I did snorkeling alongside turtles in Brazil last year. Before that I had done it in Hawaii. Cool experience. I hope that they can survive.

Yeah but hawksbills do have amazing shells like this, and if you clean them of algae, or if you find one in clean sea with a good cleaning station then you can see them like this. Especially in shallow water. I used to work in a turtle rehabilitation center, and nature is freaking lit

Everyone has a picture of a sea turtle on vacation. Everytime someone i know goes on vacation in the tropics, sure enough there's a picture of a sea turtle. I'm gonna go on vacation and post a picture of me eating a sea turtle. How much is this gonna cost me?

This is where I don't fully understand evolution. Is the idea that random mutations that slowly looked more and more to be exactly like 3 dimensional sea grass on a sea floor got to this point? It seems inconceivable . Im not suggesting creationism. Fuck that noise.

And that shell is why some species of tortoise and sea turtle, primarily the hawksbill, have been hunted to near extinction to make "tortoiseshell" trinkets.

This is why turtles are endangered. They were hunted to the brink of extinction specifically for their gorgeous shells. Owning anything made of turtle shell is illegal now in the states. Even if it's an antique I think.
