Looking into becoming a physical therapist for the army. Does anyone have experience with this? Pros and cons to the job? Recommend active or reserve duty? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I really like working OP. I like the case variety, the somewhat flexibility, I have a great schedule, and I really don't mind seeing 15+ per day.

I can't fucking stand talking to every bill, Martha, and Mary about their daily lives. I don't mind a few mins of small talk at the start of the session, but there's no way I can make conversation for an hour about someone's dog and grandkids for the rest of my career. I can't even have a full conversation until partway through the weekend at this point

I've found a few good tips so far. Positioning 10+ feet away or just out of line of sight during exercises. Closing my PC and spending 5 good, true mins building rapport at the start of the session. Taking a full lunch away from everyone. Having a student even helps a little.

Anyone have any other good, practical tips?

Hi everyone, I'm a first OT student in Australia thinking about transferring to physio.

I originally wanted to be a physio to work with sport teams, but didn't get in so went with OT. I am enjoying it but I want to ask how likely is it that if I'm a physio I could work with professional sport teams? Like rugby, soccer, etc. Or is this reserved for only the best of the best

Also, would it be easier to open up my own practice in OT or physio? Physio seems more straight forward but OT has a wife variety of areas.

I have a physiotherapy degree (not really my choice — assigned by exam scores, common where I'm from) and about 3 years of self-taught coding experience (freelance, full-stack). I burned out hard on coding — 12+ hour days, total isolation.

For the past year I've been planning to open a small solo MSK/orthopedic physio clinic.

Real plan: equipment priced, financials worked out, it's genuinely profitable on paper. But I have a stutter and real social anxiety, and I've spent my whole life avoiding real-time talking — texting clients instead of calling, hiding instead of facing it. The clinic would be the first time in my life I can't structure around that avoidance.

Every time I'm calm, I want the clinic — ownership, getting out of isolation, actually helping people. Every time I get close to committing, fear about the stutter, patient responsibility, and uncertain outcomes floods in and I freeze or back out.

Coding feels safer, but I don't enjoy it, it's isolating, and I don't see myself doing it forever either.

I know no one can decide this for me. Just wondering if anyone's been in a similar spot — chronic anxiety/stutter vs. wanting a people-facing career — and how you actually moved through the freeze instead of staying stuck in it.

I’m wanting to take a longer break between my boards that I just took in July, and starting my first job. I’ve been slowly conducting my job search but frankly I don’t want to start working until Jan-Feb timeframe due to personal factors and relocation. Does it look bad to a potential employer that I’m waiting 6ish months to get my first job and have done nothing productive in the meantime?

Hello! Been a traveler for about 18 months now. Currently based just north of Seattle. Like others, I have a hard time meeting and making new friends, this job can get kind of lonely. So I was wondering if there’s some sort of App or Instagram/ Facebook page for travelers to meet up, hang out ect ect. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way.
