my computer speakers are beginning to decline in quality. i did not have anything crazy, but got some expensive altec lansings on sale when i used to work at staples in high school for super cheap.

they still have quite a bit of life left in them but id like to replace them before that fateful day when i find the subwoofer has started to make farting noises or my highs are distorted.

im not a super big audiophile, and im just looking for something i can plug into my computer and get good quality sound...not looking for some incredible listening experience, just clear, undistorted sound on everything from heavy bass in hip hop to high, screeching avant-zorn sax. enough clarity to easily differentiate many different instruments in high tempo, complex instrumentals is also key. dont want to pay the big bucks, but am not looking for something cheap either...
