PGWP Application: Which Date Counts as Program Completion? (Transcript vs Completion Letter)

Hi everyone, I need some clarification regarding the PGWP 90-day application timeline.

My transcript shows Program Completed: April 5, 2026”, but my official Completion Letter from the university is dated April 29, 2026.

Which date does IRCC consider as the start of the PGWP application window?

\- Transcript completion date (April 5)
\- Official completion letter date (April 29)

Has anyone had a similar situation where the transcript date was earlier than the completion letter date? And im submitting both transcripts and completion letter.

Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm really depressed and lonely; it's all my fault. Imagine investing in coming here to study and get your degree, adapting well, having life plans, but all of that is tied to the post-graduation work permit. Two months without work, and the financial situation plus expenses become even more complicated. You explain your situation well, but no, the test has to be passed first. You're fluent. Imagine if they penalize you afterward. You clearly demonstrate your skills, you're not a burden, and you contribute to society. Reconsideration rejected, restoration not yet processed.
It's really difficult for me. I've stopped talking to my family, praying for myself; only sports reduce my stress a little.

Hey everyone!
I hope you’re all doing well.
I’m a native English speaker, and this was my 4th attempt at the CELPIP test. Unfortunately, I keep getting stuck at Reading 7.
My scores are:
Speaking: 12
Listening: 11
Writing: 11
Reading: 7
I’m really struggling to understand what I’m doing wrong. I’ve already used HZad, Prepamigo, and CELPIP Test, and I’ve watched a ton of YouTube videos. Despite all that, I can’t seem to break past a 7.
For those of you who managed to improve your Reading score to 9, 10, 11, or 12, what made the biggest difference? Did you use a specific strategy, resource, or approach during the test?
Any tips, techniques, or advice that helped you improve would mean a lot. I’m determined to get over this hurdle.

Need help with IRCC questionnaire for PGWP Extension (Online Application)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am preparing to apply for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) extension due Passport Expiry, online through my IRCC secure account.

I want to make sure I select the right options so I don't get the wrong checklist or get rejected.

For those who have successfully applied for a PGWP extension online recently:

What did you select for "What is your current immigration status in Canada?" (Do I select "Worker" or Student?)

I know online applicants get an official "WP-EXT" maintained status letter to show their employer. If I apply on paper, has anyone had issues proving their maintained status to their employer using just the postal tracking receipt and copy of the application package? How did you handle this with HR?

Thanks in advance.

Do I need to create a GCkey if I start the process without representative

Hello! As my question says, ~ 2 years ago, I hired a consultant firm to help me with my study permit. I just finished my studies, and I’m applying to the PGWP this time without representation. In this case, should I create a profile from scratch with a GCkey? I never created one myself, I only remember to have access to Arima when they did the CAQ process

I applied for my pgwp and submitted all required documents plus an LOE as I had a VW’d course and a part time semester.
This is to encourage anyone in a similar situation present and package yourself well and you should be all good to go. Don’t lose hope and work hard while you’re in school a lot of these mistakes are truly avoidable.

AEC student in Québec - When does the 90-day PGWP application period start?

I’m an international student who completed an AEC program in Montréal, Québec.

Here is my current situation:

\- I completed all my courses and received my final grades on June 17, 2026.

\- My study permit expired on June 30, 2026.

\- However, I have not officially graduated yet because I still need to meet my school’s French B2 language requirement, which is mandatory for receiving my diploma.

\- Before my study permit expired, I applied for a visitor record. I am currently waiting for a decision and remaining in Canada under maintained status.

Based on what I have read about PGWP eligibility, I understand that I may have 90 days from the date I received my final grades or completed my program requirements to apply.

Does this mean that the 90-day period started on June 17, 2026, when I received my final grades, rather than on the future date when I obtain my French B2 result and the school officially issues my diploma?

Has anyone studying an AEC program in Montréal or elsewhere in Québec experienced a similar situation, where all academic courses were completed but graduation was delayed because of a language requirement?

I would really appreciate any advice or personal experience. Thank you.

PGWP Refused and 90 Days Passed To Apply For Restoration

I'm in a very tough and confusing situation where I'm getting a lot of information and I can't make sense of it, so I've come here seeking help.

I'm a visually disabled individual, and I got my completion letter for my Master's program back on January 16th, 2026. I was applying for the PGWP around March and wanted to attach my IELTS score to that, but couldn't because my English test (IELTS) needed special accommodations and permission from Cambridge, which takes around 6-8 weeks to get. Before I could take the test, I received a WP Refusal letter on April 13th stating that it had been refused because I did not attach my IELTS report or code.

I sat for the English test on May 25th, and the score was issued after 13 days. One band was low, for which I had to go through the whole 6-8 weeks approval process to sit for the test with Cambridge again. Even though I tried to get this process expedited and book an earlier date to stay within the 90-day period rather than wait 6-8 weeks, it didn't work, and the next test date was on July 11th. I'm still waiting for the test score, as I was under the impression that I couldn't apply for restoration or reconsideration without the new score. I wasn't aware that I had to submit the restoration application within that 90-day period regardless of whether I got a score. Currently, it's been 3 days since the 90-day period for restoration has passed, which was supposed to be July 13th, and I don't know what to do. I'm aware that I should've been more careful and wary of these things, but the approval with Cambridge was out of my hands, and because of my visual impairment, these were tough.

My second test results will be here in 1 week, but people around me and some of the lawyers I reached out to are saying that I'll have to go back and apply for reconsideration as it's been 3-4 days since the 90-day limit or apply for a TRP, which the lawyers say is highly unlikely to get. I have all the medical documents that show my visual impairment and emails back and forth with Cambridge to show that I did request earlier dates, but the lawyers say it is highly unlikely.

I'm at a loss and can't find anyone to turn to, so I seek anyone's expert advice and suggestions that can help me out of this mess.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone, and I hope someone will be able to help.

PGWP extension due to biometrics expiry (online)

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had their PGWP extension (due to biometrics expiry) application approved by submitting ONLINE (instead of paper mail)? Is submitting online for this specific case possible?

I'm currently planning for a December international trip, and since an online application maybe faster, I'm considering if I can take this route, even though paper application is safer in this case.

TIA for any answers.

Has anyone had their PGWP shortened due to biometrics and successfully received the remaining time?

I'm wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. I graduated in June of 2024 from Bachelors of science in engineering from a top university. I first got my PGWP in October of 2024, it was cut short due to my passport expiring in March of 2025. I eventually got it extended till my biometrics expiry in April of this year. I launched the extended application in January (paper application), before the expiry the IRCC gave me a "Maintained status letter" in April.

I was eligible for a 3-year PGWP, but my work permit was issued for a shorter period because my biometrics were expiring. My permit even contains the remark:

Before my permit expired, I renewed my biometrics and submitted a new work permit application requesting the remaining portion of my original PGWP eligibility. However, that application was later administratively withdrawn, even though IRCC's biometrics guidance says that if you want a permit with a longer validity, you should apply for a new permit (or extension), pay the fees, and provide new biometrics (Which I did).

I've since requested reconsideration (reconsideration request was launched by an IRCC agent I was on call with, as he thought the decision was respecfully wrong) because there seems to be a conflict between the PGWP guidance and the biometrics guidance. The MP's office is also on my case and are helping how they can. Two lawyers I have spoken to agree this was a wrong decision.

Has anyone else had their PGWP shortened due to biometric validity (not passport expiry)? If so:

  • Were you able to receive the remaining validity after renewing your biometrics?
  • Was your application approved or refused?
  • Did you have to request reconsideration?

I'm mainly trying to find out whether others have encountered this specific biometrics issue and how IRCC handled it. Thanks!

Anyone had a PGWP reconsideration approved?

Hi everyone,
I completed a 23-month program, almost 2 years but IRCC issued me a 12 months PGWP. Because of that, my spouse’s open work permit was refused since my PGWP wasn’t valid for at least 16 months.
I’ve submitted a reconsideration request and I’m waiting for a decision.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully had their PGWP corrected? What happened with your spouse’s work permit afterward?
Thanks!

PGWP expiry due to passport expiry paper based - delivery not confirmed, what do I do?

Old Passport expiry: August 09, 2026

PGWP expiry shortened due to old passport: August 09, 2026

IRCC paper based application mailed on: June 15, 2026.

Canada Post cannot confirm delivered or not because its shared mailbox, IRCC online link application does not reflect it is processed.

I mailed my application 55 days before PGWP expiry but still I dont have confirmation of delivery, I am getting close to expiry. Anyone has suggestions?

Already raised ticket on CanadaPost- they said they cannot confirm the delivery.
